Amsterdam Netherlands Walking Tour 🇳🇱 | 4k City Walk [With Captions]

Hello Everybody. Welcome to the walking tour video in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Today’s journey I have started from Amsterdam Buiksloterweg Ferry Station. From here I am going to take the ferry and go to the other side to the City’s Central Station crossing the river Amstel.

The name “Amsterdam” actually derives from a combination of “Amstel” and “dam,” referring to the dam built on the river. Amsterdam is a vibrant city known for its artistic heritage, elaborate canal system, narrow houses with gabled facades, and its relaxed, liberal atmosphere.

Amsterdam is often called the “Venice of the North” due to its elaborate canal system. Taking a boat tour or simply strolling along the canals (Grachtengordel) is a must-do activity. The city is home to world-class museums like the Rijksmuseum, housing works by Rembrandt and Vermeer, the Van Gogh Museum, dedicated to the famous painter,

And the Anne Frank House, offering insight into Anne Frank’s life during WWII. Bicycles are an integral part of the city’s culture. Renting a bike is a fantastic way to explore the city like a local, as Amsterdam has excellent cycling infrastructure.

The city boasts stunning architecture, including the Royal Palace on Dam Square, the Westerkerk Church, and the iconic row houses with unique facades. Red Light District is a famous area of Amsterdam. This area is famous for its legalized pr*stitution and is also home to various bars, restaurants, and adult entertainment venues.

Amsterdam is known for its relaxed attitude toward c*nn*bis, and there are numerous “coffee shops” where m*rij*ana is legally sold and consumed. The city is diverse, with a rich tapestry of cultures reflected in its cuisine, festivals, and neighborhoods like the multicultural De Pijp and the trendy Jordaan.

Dutch cuisine includes delicious treats like stroopwafels (thin waffle cookies with caramel syrup), poffertjes (small pancakes), and traditional dishes like stamppot (mashed potatoes with vegetables). Amsterdam hosts various events throughout the year, including King’s Day (Koningsdag), a massive celebration in April, and Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), one of the world’s largest electronic music festivals.

While not in the city itself, the Netherlands is famous for its tulip fields. Keukenhof Gardens, near Amsterdam, is a spectacular place to see vast arrays of tulips in bloom during the spring.

Amsterdam Central Station, or Amsterdam Centraal, is a major transportation hub. It’s not only a crucial railway station but also a vibrant center connecting various modes of transportation.

The station was opened in 1889 and was designed by architect Pierre Cuypers. Its architectural style combines Gothic and Renaissance elements. It serves as a central point for trains, trams, buses, and ferries. Many domestic and international train routes pass through here, connecting Amsterdam with other Dutch cities and European destinations.

The building itself is a stunning structure, characterized by its red-brick façade, towers, and a large clock. Inside, it’s spacious with a mix of modern facilities and historic elements. Apart from transportation services, it houses shops, restaurants, and facilities for travelers, making it a bustling place throughout the day.

For many visitors, Amsterdam Central Station is more than just a transit point; its architectural beauty and strategic location make it a popular spot to visit and admire. The station is surrounded by various attractions like the Red Light District, Dam Square, and the historic canal belt, making it a starting point for exploring Amsterdam.

In the morning the weather was foggy but it still looks amazing. This is the GVB Tickets and Information center. From here you can buy different types of tickets of different transportation. Now I’m in the street called Prins Hendrikkade. This Church is called Basilica of Saint Nicholas.

Is a stunning Neo-Baroque Catholic church that stands as a prominent landmark near the city’s central train station. Construction of this magnificent basilica began in 1884 and was completed in 1887. Designed by architect Adrianus Bleijs, its architectural style combines elements of Neo-Baroque and Neo-Renaissance. This street is called Nieuwebrugsteeg.

This street is known as Warmoesstraat. This street has many shops, hotels and restaurants. This is a statue of Ganesha. Ganesha, also known as Ganapati or Vinayaka, is one of the most beloved and worshipped deities in Hinduism. This street is called Lange Niezel. You will find many shops like this one in this city.

This street is called Oudezijds Voorburgwal. This street is called Oudekerksplein. This is also a part of Red Light District. Here you will see many lady workers waiting for customers on the window. Here you can see the window where the workers wait for the customers. This Church is called Oude Kerk Amsterdam.

The Oude Kerk, which translates to “Old Church,” is a historic church located in the heart of Amsterdam’s Red Light District. It’s one of the oldest buildings in the city and holds great cultural and historical significance.

Built in the early 14th century, the Oude Kerk is considered Amsterdam’s oldest building, with construction dating back to around 1306. From here you can see the iconic canal of Amsterdam. This street is called Oudezijds Achterburgwal. This is the Red Light District Area. This area is famous all over world.

Thousands of people comes here everyday to visit. This street is called Oude Doelenstraat. This street is called Damstraat. Now I’m in the Dam Square. It’s the vibrant heart of the city, bustling with history, culture, and activity.

The name “Dam” comes from the dam that was built on the Amstel River in the 13th century, around which the city originated. Dam Square is a lively hub, surrounded by significant landmarks like the Royal Palace, which was originally built as a city hall in the 17th century,

And the National Monument, dedicated to the victims of World War II. The square is often used for events, concerts, and gatherings, attracting both locals and tourists alike. This is the National Monument of Amsterdam. The Amsterdam National Monument, known as the National Monument op de Dam in Dutch.

It was unveiled on May 4, 1956, to commemorate the victims of World War II, particularly those who died in the Dutch resistance against the Nazi occupation. This is the famous Madame Tussauds museum. Madame Tussauds in Amsterdam is part of the famous wax museum chain founded by Marie Tussaud.

It’s a popular tourist attraction showcasing lifelike wax figures of celebrities, historical figures, politicians, athletes, and more. The museum offers an interactive experience where visitors can take photos with their favorite figures, interact with some exhibits, and learn about the craftsmanship behind creating these incredibly detailed wax statues. This is the Royal Palace Amsterdam.

The Royal Palace Amsterdam, known locally as “Koninklijk Paleis Amsterdam,” is a significant historical and cultural landmark. Originally built in the 17th century as the city hall during the Dutch Golden Age. It was designed by architect Jacob van Campen and served as a symbol of Amsterdam’s wealth and power during that period.

The building’s design reflects the classical style of architecture prevalent in that era, characterized by symmetry, grand columns, and meticulous detailing. This street is called Nieuwendijk. This is a famous shopping street of Amsterdam. You will find shops like Zara, Primark, Hema, Foot Locker and so on.
