    The city was not bombed during the war. I bel ice it was Sexretary Stimson who had been ther, perhaps his honeymoon, and he forbade the bombing.

    I'll always stick with rules if they make sense, but a photo ban? I get that it can get cluttered and you shouldn't hinder other people trying to walk by, but a photo ban is too much, especially at such a beautiful and historic place. It's important to preserve it as much as possible through photos, videos and paintings before something happens that destroys it forever (which isn't too unlikely)

    What time of year does Kyoto have the least amount of people? I understand there will always be some amount of crowds, but I'm curious, as too many tourists can ruin the experience for me.
