Photo by @acacia.johnson: “Alaska’s winters are famous for their short daylight hours, but to me, the ‘dark season’ is one of the best times of the year to photograph. The dreamlike colors of sunrise, sunset, and twilight last for hours, reflecting off of the frozen landscape.

I took this picture on New Year’s Day, out the open window of a bush plane over Alaska’s Knik River. The magic of winter isn’t about the darkness to me, but the quality of the light that there is.”
