Photo by #CanonExplorerOfLight @49ersofficialphotog: “I wanted to give this image some thought before I was scheduled to perform a live photography demonstration on stage in front of 100+ photographers in Las Vegas. It had been a long time since I was on the Canon stage, and I wanted to photograph an athlete with their shirt off and wanted to add some shoulder pads. Then I thought about playing with some color gels to create a dynamic look with these split colors.
The lighting setup I used to create this look was with 2 Profoto B1 lights with Westcott Rapid 1×4 Switch Box. After adding in the red and green gels I was able to show how I split these two different colors on the left and right side of my subject’s face. The two Profoto stripe boxes were set on the model’s left and right side so I could cover half of his body. I wanted the athlete to give me a serious look into the camera to produce the final portrait.”
