@susanstriplingphotography’s journey to becoming a #CanonExplorerOfLight: “In 2017 I was feeling a bit stuck and stagnant. I’d been a professional photographer for fifteen years at that point, and I was happy with my work…but I felt like there was so much more out there that I had yet to create.
Collaborating with the legendary powerhouse @jessicavosk was the lightbulb moment that my creative soul needed. The most spectacular Elphaba in Broadway’s Wicked, I wanted to make an iconic portrait for her that defied gravity. (Pun intended!). I realized that sometimes true inspiration comes from simply creating one-on-one, delving deep into a vision with another artist, letting your walls down and truly trying something new.
This image made me truly happy, both in creation and final form. I leaned into my theatre background even harder and let it influence my wedding work. As a result, my wedding imagery became stronger and more unique, I diversified into theatrical portraits and working with the Broadway community, and my photography jumped forward to the next level.
What will take me to the NEXT next level? I don’t know, but I can’t wait to find out!”
