I love the feeling when you know that the stakes are high, you get one shot to nail it and it doesn’t matter if you’ve waited hours, days, weeks or months, there’s no do-overs because every encounter is different. These undirected moments happen so fast, it’s certainly something I experience all the time when photographing birds. I shot this photo here of a pair of Sand Grouse flying into a water hole in the Okavango Delta, Botswana. They fly in fast and are incredibly skittish, which means you have to stay sharp among the spiking adrenaline, it’s a feeling I can’t get enough of!”
