Photo by #CanonExplorerOfLight @jenwuphoto: “I listen to the crackling of the lava and feel the heat as I approach the volcano. I walk around to get the spectators as silhouettes against the eruption. I use the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM lens at 48mm for a standard perspective. I photographed at f/4.5, 2 seconds, and ISO 640. The lava glows brilliantly against the dark night sky. The longer 2-second exposure allows for the lava arc trails instead of just spots of light, similar to photographing fireworks. The Kilauea volcano became active again on Wednesday, September 29th. While this was photographed on the Big Island of Hawaii a number of years ago, I remember it vividly!”
