Check out what’s in #CanonExplorerOfLight @michelecelentanophotographer’s gear bag!
“This time of year it gets really busy for family portraits as well as high school seniors. I can often go from studio to an outdoor location during one session so I need to be prepared for both locations. Being prepared for any situation is vital in terms of producing consistent quality images that clients have come to expect. When in doubt on whether or not I should bring something to a shoot, my philosophy is I would rather carry something I didn’t need than wish I had something I didn’t pack. Like most photographers I am a gear nut and love adding new gear to my bag. I am cautious in terms of buying what I really think will make my job easier and more enjoyable. I adore prime lenses and the RF85mm F1.2 L USM DS lens is probably my all-time favorite, although I do love all of my lenses. For outdoor family portraits I lean heavily on my RF70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM lens. It’s easy to rotate on the lens collar between vertical and horizontal or go from full length to 3/4 to close-up without having to change my lens, especially when I’m out in the desert with a lot of dirt in the air.
This is my essential go-to bag.
Camera bodies:
Canon EOS R5
Canon EOS R6 with Battery Grip BG-R10 (I’ll be adding another EOS R6 since I love it for my portrait work)
Lenses:
RF35mm F1.8 Macro IS STM
RF50mm F1.2 L USM
RF85mm F1.2 L USM DS (a favorite)
RF24-105mm F4 L IS USM
RF70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM (go-to for location family portraits)
RF70-200mm F4 L IS USM (I use this when I want to carry something a bit lighter and for volume school portraits)”
Ciao, Nihon.
