The sunset was extraordinary that day, and seeing the gold light reflecting off of the ice was truly outstanding. Every time I create an image I try to think of how I could see it differently than other photographers, and in this case I was stumped. How can I show the ice AND the couple AND the sky in a new way? The only clear answer was to wedge myself deep into a crevice in the glacier. I was backed up so far the ice was cutting into my arms and shoulders, and I could barely get the camera to waist height. I was so thankful that I could move the vari-angle touchscreen on my EOS R outwards so that I could compose my shot with the camera at a lower angle. I am also thankful for the guide who then helped me get out of the ice I was stuck in!”
