“This was one of the beauty shoots I did last year that really sparked my interest in doing more beauty photography! I was incredibly inspired by Aliana’s look and gorgeous hair so it made sense to put together a shoot focused around that!
TIP: I often get a lot of questions about casting (choosing) models for shoots when starting to build a portfolio. The best advice I can give comes from my own experience – folio build with subjects who have confidence in front of the lens! When I started out I worked with confident friends, dancers, actors, musicians and once even a fire dancer! A strong portfolio with confident subjects can catch the attention of more experienced models and then later help you when considering to work with model agencies.
Another tip I always have when thinking about casting is that the model should always be the right ‘fit’ for the role – the same way an actor would be for a movie or TV role!”
