I’m certain all of us have seen dwindling supplies on grocery store shelves over the past month. For me, the limited provisions have instilled a greater appreciation for our farmers.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I had the privilege of shooting a campaign for Walls Outdoor Goods (@wallsoutdoorgoods) this winter featuring real deal farmers on Jay Hill’s west Texas farms. One of the highlights was capturing portraits of the farmers, as their faces and their personas are so powerful. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Jack Zumwalt, featured here, is 62 years young and works as both a mechanic and farmer. He’s the guy you want to know if something goes wrong with a tractor during harvest season. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Jack is soft-spoken. He’s kind and deeply patient. His hands are like oversized vices, even with one finger missing from a farm accident. His eyes hold the depth of the world. Capturing that radiance, and sharing it with others, is one of the things I love most about photography and cinematography.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Jack is nowhere near social media, so I’ll be sending him a print of this shot that I love for his memory album.⁣⁣” Camera: #Canon EOS-1D X Mark II
