#BehindTheShot with #CanonExplorerOfLight @darrellgulin |”One of my top bucket list locations, for many years, was Japan in the winter with the Japanese Cranes, Whooping Swans, Stellar Fish Eagles and Snow Monkeys. Finally Joe Van Os Photo Safaris offered me the chance to lead a workshop to Japan in the winter of February 2016. It did not disappoint, becoming one of my 5 top favorite Wildlife locations. I always wanted to photograph the Red-crowned crane so this is why I picked this image to share. Besides when I was photographing the immature Red-crowned crane chasing after the Whooping Swans it just made me smile. This image was taken at the Tsurui Mura Crane Reserve, in Hokkaido Japan. Lens of choice was the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM, 1.4x III extender, and Canon’s EOS 7D Mark II camera. This combination would allow me to photograph up to almost 900mm. The key to getting a sharp image was Image Stabilization and a fast shutter speed.” Camera: #Canon EOS 7D Mark II
