In this video, I take you into the side of China the media won’t show you — a place hidden in plain sight. This is the China you won’t see anywhere else. I investigated the China Western media won’t show, exploring one of the most unique and vibrant urban villages: Meikuang Village in Guiyang City, filmed in 4K. This is China’s Urban Village Walk through dark alleys and shabby, noisy streets where everything feels surreal, almost like a simulation. The space is full of liminal vibes, where parts feel abandoned yet still alive. What I found here surprised me — from insanely cheap rent to chaotic street life and unexpected moments you wouldn’t normally experience.
I walk through Meikuang Village both day and night to see how it really feels and to answer one question: is this place actually dangerous, or just misunderstood? This is raw, unfiltered China — exactly as I experienced it.

    Land prices in these areas are way too high, so the government can’t afford to demolish and redevelop them. They’re perfect for housing lower-income workers instead.

    There aren't many cameras here, but you still feel free and safe. This shows that China's safety isn't solely due to the number of cameras; a happy life and highly civilized, courteous people are the key to safety.

    I love those places. We walked every night through our urban village in Shenzhen (Nanshan District). It was similar. But also very different. The vibes there were special and catch you on the first second. ☺️🥰

    城中村在城市发展的早期都处于城市的边缘，是农村，它们的主人都是农民，所以城中村的土地属于农民个人。随着城市的发展和扩大，城中村都被包裹在了新发展的城市当中，所以叫做城中村，又因为城中村的土地属于农民个人，拆迁的成本和难度会大很多，在不那么富裕的城市中，没被拆迁的城中村会比较多。所以喜欢这样的城中村的话，请尽快的多看看，也许在下一个10年，他们将不复存在。
