China’s Abandoned Paradise: Only 1 Man Still Lives Here
A giant paradise hidden on a mountain peak, abandoned by the world, with only one man remaining as its guardian.
I visited a remote village in Huangshi, Hubei, to find a place known as “Xiao Leishan” (Little Mount Lei). It’s a massive, sacred site atop a peak, surrounded by scattered homes—but it’s now a ghost town. I met an old man on the trail who showed me the way. “Don’t stay too long,” he said. He is the last person living there.
The climb was tough in the thunder and rain, but the beauty made it worth it. Away from the noise of the modern world, I heard nothing but the duet of wind and rain. A forgotten wonderland where you can truly find inner peace.
