#BehindTheShot with #CanonExplorerOfLight @dorn.bruce: “I captured this image while mentoring the creators of a social media video produced for Volare Helicopters, a flying service based in Tucson, Arizona. The storyline, released on this past Valentine’s Day, follows a young couple as they independently travel to a romantic sunset rendezvous – the gentleman arriving via helicopter and the lady by four-wheel-drive. The video crew used Canon 5D MKIV cameras (in 4K mode) to capture the First Unit, Second Unit, and BTS footage. All sequences were lensed with the EF 16-35 f4L IS USM, EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM, and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-56L IS II USM zooms.
The video shot list was long (and the shooting schedule short) giving me few opportunities to grab still shots for lighting and color-grading reference. To work quickly, I elected to use Canon’s EOS R full-frame mirrorless camera and two RF lenses; the RF 35mm F1.8 IS Macro STM and RF 50mm F1.2L USM. I used the 35mm for wide master shots and the 50mm for tighter coverage. The image shown here was captured with the RF 50mm F/1.2L USM and I must say I love the beautiful bokeh of this lens. It’s a treat to know that I can count on razor-sharp principal focus even when shooting at or near wide-open apertures. For me, it was love at first sight!” Camera: Canon EOS R
