VIENNA FOOD – Local Austrian Food & Vienna’s Biggest Market
In this video we are visiting everything from the lively Naschmarkt to a cozy local schnitzel shop and finally a historic tavern, this video shows both the traditional and modern food scene of Vienna. Watch until the end for the full experience!
*Naschmarkt*
Our food tour starts at the famous Naschmarkt, one of the most well-known markets in Vienna. This historic market has over 100 different vendors and restaurants offering a huge variety of foods. While you can still find some Austrian specialties here, the overall atmosphere is very international and often quite oriental. You’ll see everything from würstel and Austrian snacks to kebab, falafel, and baklava. It’s a lively place where locals and tourists come together to eat, shop, and explore.
*Opern Schnitzel*
Next we visit Opern Schnitzel, a small local eatery near the city center. Although the shop offers a mix of international food, they specialize in freshly made chicken schnitzel. The schnitzel is prepared to order, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside — a quick but delicious stop during our Vienna food tour.
*Original Würstelstand – Kupferschmiedgasse*
After that we head to the heart of Vienna, Stephansplatz, one of the most famous squares in the city. Here we enjoy classic Austrian street food at a wurstelstand, one of the most iconic food experiences in Vienna. The area is always lively, full of shops and tourists, and although it can be expensive, it’s an interesting place to walk around and see the shops.
*Schank zum Reichsapfel*
Our final stop is Schank zum Reichsapfel, a very traditional Austrian tavern. The food here is classic and hearty, with dishes like pork belly and Fleischknödel served in a rustic setting. The food itself was very delicious and authentic, although unfortunately the overall vibe didn’t quite match the quality of the dishes.

Beautifully communicated feedback towards end of video. Respectful and honest. Great review and love your videos! 💜
Please, please tell this man you do NOT say "CHEERS" when you are ready to EAT something. That term is used ONLY when about to have a drink of a beverage.
The “no schnitzel” sign was a not very subtle way of saying “no tourists”. So to go in there with all cameras blazing shows a lack of awareness maybe?
If they treat a white European tourist that bad just imagine how bad it would be for non- white tourists!
lol, maybe the drunky owner and the old couple because of Αlzheimer they were thinking that they still live in 3d Reich, even the letters of the sign/board had this similar 'nazi' font like "Castle Wolfenstein"! 😜😝😂
I was planning to visit Vienna on February 28 because of "East vs West 22", the arm-wrestling competition, but i changed my mind, maybe i was lucky cuz war in Iran started those days!!
Anyway Alex kardasi, expensive country with almost ZERO cuisine, only for pastries, Schnitzel and Würstchen are famous, No36 cuisine according to "TasteAtlas" awards, Italy and Greece are EVERY YEAR No1 and No2 in the world, we have thousands of cheap recipes to taste!!! 🤘💪
Out of all the places I've traveled in Europe, Vienna had the most unwelcoming people. The amount of unprovoked anger directed towards me outnumbers all negative encounters I've had visiting 19 other countries in Europe in total. Something is wrong with the water in Vienna or something.
people in europe are paranoid evrerything you do they will put meaning or interpret into something sinical. what a shame some not all
I feel sorry that you faced this situation with the resourant owner. Regrettably, I too have encountered unwelcoming and somewhat haughty attitude from rhe locals when I visited Viena a couple of times. Nothing extraordinary, yet still unpleasant… I'm unsure what prompted it, but despite it occurring quite some time ago, your video brought it back to mind.
Well OK but Lindt ist Swiss You should rather have gone to Meinl delicatessan . As for Curry Wurst ,IT Is German Not austrian. Strange behaviour so far I found vienna people rather friendly.
Naschmarkt vendors are aggressive and they scam you. You are welcome!
Honestly, we Austrians don't really like filming in restaurants. And I'm also glad I don't live in America, where every Tom, Dick, and Harry has to film and comment on everything all the time. We prefer peace and quiet. Older people especially; they always feel disturbed by everything here. 😅 We're also known for being both friendly and grumpy (in vienna). I know it's a strange mix, but it's like sweet and sour; it often goes really well together. 🙂

I really enjoy your food videos — the reactions are always genuine. But I have to admit something… every time the food is really good, you start doing that little “mmm” sound like a happy cow in a five-star pasture. 😂
At this point I’m starting to judge the quality of the dish by the length of the “mmmm”.
Short “mm”? Probably decent.
Long “mmmmmm”? Okay, that must be incredible.
Just don’t go full “Moooo” on us — we might start expecting fresh milk with the review. 🐄😄
Hi Alex, can I ask some of the questions? Are most of the Vienna people and some of the locals welcoming Asian people? so me and my family are going to Vienna next month and we don't know are they having an attitude toward asian or not like something we should know?
I am sorry for your bad experiene in this one Restaurant..I am an austrian Woman living in Salzburg…..sorry for that! You did not disturb anyone as to see, but some people are disturbed very soon, we have many Tourists here that do not behave like you on the other side…no excuse of course!!
Penuh makna… 📽
I have watched many of your travel and food videos. You find so many nice places to eat with friendly people and great food. I am sorry you had this experience. You actually present great reviews that can only help increase traffic to these places. However, some people are motivated by things we aren't aware of. I see that you tried to make the experience for the couple as normal as you could while recording your experience in the tavern. Her insistence that you were still annoying her and the owner's insistence that you should stop recording and leave, are hard to understand for me. You see so much friendliness and inclusion in many of the other countries and eateries you have visited. Why not this one? Who can tell? Please continue your journeys and we will come along. I hope the next one will be happier for you and your son. I hope your sister comes along on a trip with you in a summer month so she doesn't freeze at the outdoor market. Cheers, Alex.
Is it food in Vienna delicious
Original wiener schnitzel is made from veal, not beef
The joke with "refueling in flight" was the best part after your experience with that restaurant. 😂
