About This Walk / この散歩について

Hotoku-ji Temple (Hōtoku-ji), Kiryu, Gunma.
群馬県桐生市　宝徳寺（ほうとくじ）
I’ve been here before, but this time I returned simply to walk.
以前にも訪れたことがありますが、今回はただ歩くために戻ってきました。
The air was cool — about 6°C — and the wind stayed with me the whole way.
気温は約6℃。風が強く、最後までずっとそばにありました。
Along the path, small Jizō appear one by one, quietly guiding the pace.
参道には小さなお地蔵さまが少しずつ現れて、静かに歩みを導いてくれます。
In the rock garden, stones flow like water, shaping the space without instructions.
石庭では、石が水の流れのように配置され、見方を押しつけずに空間をつくっています。
There is also a small flame kept burning as a symbol of peace.
また、平和の願いを込めて灯され続けている小さな火もあります。
I’m not sure what made this visit feel different — maybe the place, maybe the day, maybe me.
何が「いつもと違う」と感じさせたのかは分かりません。場所か、今日という日か、あるいは自分自身かもしれません。

A Jizō-lined path — some gentle, some playful, appearing one by one.
お地蔵さまが並ぶ道。やさしい表情も、遊び心のある姿も、少しずつ現れます。
A rock garden where stones feel like a quiet current.
石が静かな流れのように感じられる石庭。
A small peace flame, easy to miss, but difficult to forget.
気づかず通り過ぎてしまいそうで、でも心に残る「平和の火」。
Wind moving through trees and bamboo, changing each corner’s feeling.
木々や竹を抜ける風が、曲がり角ごとに空気を変えていきます。
