4 Cats Kept Visiting My Tent at a Winter Camp in Aso, Japan 🐈
This time, I took the world’s only railway that crosses one of the largest calderas on Earth, heading to a glamping site in Minami Aso where cats quietly live. On this day, we met five cats, and simply watched them wander freely across the wide grounds. At sunset, we gathered around a bonfire in the forest, spending quiet moments while holding a cat in our arms.
One especially friendly calico stayed close the whole time. That alone was more than enough. Dinner was a BBQ made with local ingredients. Drawn by the smell, the cats came over too, making it a slightly lively evening.
The next morning, it rained. Wrapped in mist, Aso was incredibly quiet—just being there felt healing.

今回は、世界最大級のカルデラを横断する「世界唯一のカルデラ鉄道」に乗って、 猫たちが暮らす南阿蘇のグランピングへ行きました。この日に会えた5匹の猫たちは、 広い敷地を自由に歩き回っています。夕暮れ、森の中で焚き火を囲み、 猫を抱っこしながらぼんやり過ごす時間。人懐っこいミーちゃんが、ずっとそばにいてくれて。 それだけで、幸せすぎました🥰 夕食は地元食材のBBQ。 匂いにつられて猫たちも集まってきて、少し賑やかな夜となりました。翌朝は雨でしたが、霧に包まれた阿蘇はとても静かで、 ただそこにいるだけで癒される朝でした。

阿蘇周辺は交通系IC使えず乗り換え失敗したことあるので、これから行く方は現金を用意しておくと良いです。
