I Found What Everyone Wants From Life… in the Arctic: Beyond Blizzard & Snowstorm Survival in Van

Beyond Surviving Blizzards, Snow Storms & Extreme Winter Cold in a Van, I Found What Everyone Wants from Lifeโ€ฆ. Alone in the Arctic. I built a life where my time is my own. This is my story!
I live in a van in the most extreme weather conditions in the world, and I wanted to share this story with you as motivation and inspiration on how you can get off the hamster wheel, get away from schedule, notifications and the time trap. This is how disruption and disaster came to shape the life I really wanted, how my life took a different path than I had anticipated, and I am happy about it!
I explain my story as I travel around one of the most remote islands in the arctic, with snow drift, stormy single lane roads, avalanche tunnels and northern lights. I cook the final edition of a California burrito and I am joined by several herds of amazing whales in the ocean as I travel along the coast and fjords.

Part of the 2026 Arctic Winter Life series:

Arctic Winter Life: Surviving my 4th Arctic Winter of Extreme Van Life. Solo in Hurricanes, Blizzards, Snow Storms & Camping in Extreme Cold Freezing Temperatures.

๐ŸŽฌ Filmed in the Arctic frontier โ€” real storms, real solitude. The frozen lands as they really are.

My van is a Fiat Ducato, FWD with Nokian Hakkapalitta studless Winter Tires. This is the same as a Ram Promaster in America – USA and Canada.

  2. "Nature doesn't rush, it doesn't compete, it doesn't care about productivity, it just exists. And standing in it you start to realize how loud everything else in the world has become.." So beautiful, Jarl! Thank you so much! You opened a door for us here!

  3. As a retired person my time is my own and I def do not follow the crowd. I just wish I had the $ to travel overseas again as my husband and I did for many years. But since losing him Iโ€™ve learned to travel alone. It is not the same but I go anyway because to travel is LIFE! You understand that Iโ€™m sure. Thanks so much for all your amazing journeys and the beautiful way you present each video. Oh and if I were making tacos Iโ€™d def add tomatoes, avocado, lettuce and sour cream. Be safe wherever you go and keep on trucking!โค

  4. Your statement is incorrect. The most important thing in the world is having money. Without money, you wouldn't be able to take these trips either. It's that simple.

  5. Thank you for sharing your videos and story. Seeing how happy you are on your own doing your own thing is an inspiration to follow their dreams of doing the same thing. Being away from the day face doing your own thing is the way to go being your own boss no-one to answer to

  6. And too the ordinary people who work at the service stations supermarkets and the low truck drivers who work to help you keep your lifestyle

  7. Speaking of whales. Remember when Norway and Japan were the two remaining whaling nations in the world? Not that long ago friends. Sometimes the nicest people do the damnedest things.๐Ÿซค

  9. Iโ€™m living my freedom because I retired last year. Freedom to me is no bosses telling me what to do or berating me because they have all the power. PEACE is underrated. Iโ€™m the captain of my own ship. I have taken charge of my health and lost 60 pounds. I take walks every day and have found that Iโ€™ve looked at the sky more in the year since I retired than in the previous 20 years combined. I decide if and when I do things. No more rising at 5:15 am and driving an hour to a job I detested. FREEDOM!!!!

  10. What a wonderful video, I am lucky enough to own my own business and have learned through life money brings no happiness.
I plan on travelling the world next year and seeing things I could have only dreamed about when I was younger, going to do on a limited budget and stay wherever possible the cheapest places, I canโ€™t wait!
Your journeys make me wanna do it sooner, thanks for sharing

  11. ITS ABSOLITLY WONDERFUL AND SATISFYING TO HAVE YOUR OWN TIME……ME PERSONALY , I WANT TO INVEST TIME ,BY BUYING MY TIME OUT BECAUSE THE TIMES ARE EVIL….. I WANT TO SET MUSH TIME OUT BY SPENDING TIME WITH. OUR HEAVENLY FATHER…… WE AL ARE DIFFERENT PEOPLE , WITH DIFFERENT GOALS….. I WANT TO BE SET APPART , BE LONELY BUT SPIRITUAL FULFILED IN OUR BELOVED LORD JESUS CHRIST….. THATS ALL I LONG FOR….. MY GREATEST DESIRE IS TO PLEASE HIM….AND JUST TO BE SIMPLE ME… LOVE AND. GREETINGS FROM S.A.

  12. Fantastisk film , Jarl โค๏ธโค๏ธog historien som fรธlger er bare enda mer fantastiskโค๏ธโค๏ธ

  13. Thank you for another beautiful depiction of nature! But I'm especially drawn to your story and your candor. It's wonderful that you've found your happiness. I definitely believe I could do it too, but not for long.

  14. Thanks for another amazing adventure. โคโคโคMaybe I will also one day break free. You are an inspiration. I am glad you found your freedom. Thanks for your videos. Safe travels my friend๐Ÿš™๐Ÿš™๐Ÿš™๐Ÿซถ

  15. This video hits hard. Your reflections on the meaning of life are so spot on. I think most of us deeply realize that our fast-paced lives and constant rushing aren't the answer, yet we still find ourselves stuck in that same 'fast' loop every day. It takes courage to step out and choose a different path like you did. Thank you for the reminder to slow down and find peace in the silence. Safe travels through the Arctic! ๐Ÿšโ„

  16. I so want to live my life like this nowadays. The scenery is stunning, breathtaking actually. Any room for a lodger Jarl? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  17. Pretty standard on the tacos. Ground beef, Taco Bell seasoning, shredded lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese, pacante sauce poured over the tacos which we use hard shell tacos. "Cheers, our friend!"

  18. Living in west of Washington, we have ferries in quite some areas and especially in summertime itโ€™s so amazing to just take the kids enjoying the rides.
And youโ€™re right, Jarlโ€ฆ happiness canโ€™t be measured by possessions. We just need clothes, food and shelter to sleep, otherwise weโ€™re good.
Time and happiness can never be bought..
    Thanks for sharing your thoughts
