There are places in Japan that don’t look real. This is one of them. Hidden deep in the mountains, Shirakawa-go is a UNESCO World Heritage village famous for its “Gassho-zukuri” farmhouses that look like hands clasped in prayer.
We arrived on a rainy, snowy winter day, and what we found felt less like a travel destination and more like stepping inside a living fairytale. In this episode, we explore the silence, the history, and the sheer beauty of this winter wonderland – and the reality of exploring a freezing ancient village with a toddler.
