【7つの湯で巡る 白神矢立の霊泉】日景温泉 / 大館市 秋田県

秋田県大館市 日景温泉に投宿してきました。

青森と秋田の県境、碇ヶ関近郊には名湯が点在します。『トド寝』の聖地、日本一のドバドバ温泉としても名高い古遠部温泉に立ち寄り一軒宿の日景温泉にお邪魔しました。

写真で見るイメージよりずっと大きな昭和初期建造の建屋が白神山地の麓に鎮座します。80部屋だった宿泊施設を26室に改装した館内は広く、部屋によって長い距離を歩くことになりますが、温泉を楽しむ湯治なので全く気になりません。むしろ良い運動です。

館内には多くの休み処があり、温泉に浸かっては異なる休み処でリラックスする時間を過ごすことができました。

メインの温泉は硫黄臭の香る青みがかった濁り湯。4本の自家源泉を持ち、少し鼻につく温泉は有効成分の濃い名泉として古くから「三日一廻りの霊泉」として親しまれてきました。館内には男女の大浴場（内湯・露天）と5つの貸切風呂。異なる雰囲気の湯あみ時間を楽しむことができます。貸切風呂でゆったりとした時間の流れを感じ、大浴場を独占する時間。

食事は地産地消の食材を利用した滋味深い献立が並びます。2014年に経営危機に陥った後、再生に手を挙げたのは地元で料亭を営む会社。料理が素晴らしいのも納得です。秘湯でありながら絶品の料理を頂けるのは本当に贅沢です。特に夕食のきりたんぽと朝食の比内地鶏粥は是非味わっていただきたいメニュー。人気の宿として再生されたことがよく分かる滞在時間でした。

秘湯であり、料亭旅館であり、山小屋の雰囲気も併せ持つ日景温泉。通いたくなるお宿が一つ増えました。事前に連絡を差し上げ本件の撮影にご了解を頂き、ありがとうございました。またお邪魔させて頂きます。

I stayed at Hikage Onsen in Odate City, Akita Prefecture.

Famous hot springs are dotted around Ikarigaseki, on the border between Aomori and Akita prefectures. I stopped off at Furutobe Onsen, a sacred place for “Todone” (sleeping like Steller’s sea lion), and famous for being Japan’s number one hot spring for abundant spring water flow, and visit Hikage Onsen.

Constructed in the early Showa period, the building sits at the foot of the Shirakami-Sanchi Mountains, and is much larger than it appears from photos. The hotel, which originally had 80 rooms but has been renovated to 26, is spacious, and while it does involve walking a long distance between rooms, it’s not a big deal since it’s a hot spring cure. It’s actually good exercise.

There are numerous rest areas within the hotel, and I was able to spend time soaking in the hot springs and relaxing in different rest areas.

The main hot spring is a cloudy, bluish water with a fragrant sulfur smell. With four private springs, this slightly pungent hot spring has long been known as the “sacred spring that is bathed once every three days” for its high concentration of beneficial ingredients. The hotel features large public baths (indoor and outdoor) for men and women, as well as five private baths. Enjoy different bathing experiences in different atmospheres. Feel the leisurely flow of time in the private baths, or have the large public bath all to yourself.

The meals feature delicious dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. After the hotel fell into a management crisis in 2014, a local restaurant company stepped up to help revive the hotel. It’s no surprise that the food is so excellent. Enjoying exquisite cuisine at a hidden hot spring is truly luxurious. The kiritanpo (rice simmered in rice) for dinner and the Hinai chicken porridge for breakfast are especially must-try dishes. Our stay clearly demonstrated how the inn has been reborn as a popular destination.

Hikage Onsen is a hidden hot spring, a traditional Japanese inn, and even a mountain hut atmosphere. It’s one more inn I’d love to visit. Thank you for contacting us in advance and allowing us to film this story. We’ll definitely be back!
