Vorkuta is a coal-mining town, situated in the northeast of European Russia, just north of the Arctic Circle. With it’s satellite towns, Vorkuta forms the so-called Vorkuta Ring or Vorkuta Circle, which included such towns as Severny, Tsementnozavodsky, Yur-Shor, Promyshlenny, Vorgashor, Komsomolsky, Mulda, Zapolyarny, Oktyabrsky, Sovetsky and others. Their population was employed in coal mines and other industrial and military facilities. After collapse of the Soviet Union, many mines were closed due to accidents and high operating costs and people began to move to other regions. The towns of Vorkuta ring became partially or completely abandoned, some were demolished.

The Severnaya (“Northern”) Mine was abandoned after disaster that occurred in February 2016. A series of methane explosions at a depth about 780 metres (2,560 ft) below ground caused the deaths of 36 miners and rescuers. The resulting underground fire was extinguished over 65 days by pumping water into the underground workings. The above-ground part of the mine was mothballed and then dismantling began.

    My grandmother and grandfather came to Vorkuta in the 1950s from the Odessa region of the Ukrainian SSR. Grandpa worked in the mine for more than thirty years, they lived in the settlement of Severny. Then in 1993, after retiring, they moved to our town in the Kaluga region — to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren.

    In 2016, a terrible tragedy struck the Severnaya mine (It's shown at 12:00)

    where Grandpa had worked for so many years — 30 miners lost their lives. It was an enormous shock for our whole family.

    Grandma, Grandpa, and Mom often told stories about what Vorkuta was like in Soviet times: vibrant, multinational, full of culture, a place people came to from all over the vast Soviet Union. Despite the permafrost and polar nights, there was genuine warmth in human relationships. People lived close-knit lives and, strangely enough, they were happy.

    Today many of the surrounding mining settlements stand nearly empty, and it breaks the heart to see it. But friends who are still there say life in Vorkuta itself continues to pulse. Many people remain — because for them, this is their true home, their real homeland.

    стабилизатор – moza mini p. Вопрос, какова была температура, примерная в тот день? Я живу в Таллине. В январе температура редко понижалась более чем, -10 градусов по цельсию, и аппаратура выдерживала. Я снимал на Samsung A54, DJI Osmo Mobile 5, Panasonic AG AC-130, Lumix G80. Эта техника выдерживала температурный режим без утепления. После, несколько часов отстаивалась от конденсата. Интересно понимать, примерно до каких пределов температур можно на неё рассчитывать без риска отказа и поломок из-за морозов? Вероятно, Вы увидите мой вопрос и сможете пояснить, основываясь на опыте с вашей аппаратурой. Спасибо.
