Why Going-to-the-Sun Road Is One of America’s Greatest Rides (S5:E7)
After treating the Africa Twin to a fresh fork seal, Rose and Chad continue north through Montana cattle country, chasing some of the state’s best motorcycle roads and stopping along the way to soak in a bit of small-town Montana charm.
Following quiet backroads, they ride to along shores of Lake Koocanusa, eventually reaching West Glacier and Glacier National Park – timing their arrival before sunrise to beat the park’s reservation system (and the crowds). Where they are rewarded with a near-empty ride along one of the most spectacular roads in North America: Going-to-the-Sun Road.
Built into the cliffs of Glacier National Park and crossing the Continental Divide at Logan Pass, Going-to-the-Sun Road climbs high into the clouds, weaving past waterfalls, sheer drop-offs, and alpine scenery before descending toward St. Mary Lake and the Canadian border. From there, the journey continues north into Waterton Lakes National Park in Alberta.
Whether you’re planning a motorcycle trip to Glacier National Park, researching one of America’s most scenic alpine highways, or simply enjoy immersive POV riding videos, this ride showcases why Going-to-the-Sun Road remains a bucket-list destination for riders and travelers alike.

Didn't drop the bike ? Yup… you are learning ! Good go !
I love talking to old timers like Postal Dave. Don't love all those mosquitos though! 😮
The opening scene with the headlamp band. I thought I was seeing a guest appearance by Willie Nelson.
I've never seen mosquitos swarm like that. I would have left! Going to the sun looked epic. I need to make it out that way one of these days. Good job Rose, you're getting much better! Good job!
Another great one! I rode Going to the Sun back in the early 2000s. Not much has changed except for the crowds. It crazy to see how much more crowded everything is these days. I'm glad I got to see it before it turned into Disneyland!
Way to go Rose. Looks like you got all the crashing out of your system!
Add ‘emergency tourist rescue’ the the three sheets resume, well played. Glad Canada welcomed you so easily, stoked to see what else you found up here.
Another great addition to the catalog. Thanks guys!
Seriously, you two are the highlights of my Sundays! Along with The Wynns. Thank you for posting!
Those were some steep cliffs along the Going to the Sun Road! Nice twisty's, Looked like allot of fun. Welcome (back) to Canada and we'll see ya in Golden!
Going to the Sun Road is another on my ever growing list…list is getting longer than my remaining good years! 😂 Made it to Waterton last summer in the absolute worst weather but it was still worth it. Bought a new camp pillow there 😊 I love the droopy turn signal on the AT 😂 "I dropped off a 2025!" made me laugh. Noticed Rosie hadn't dropped her bike again but didn't want to jinx it. She did great coming out of that wet camp in the dark! 🙌 Welcome to Canada! Happy you came and I hope you had a wonderful trip with minimal mosquitos! ❤
Cool video!
Chad you are the flat tire king!😅
Awesome video. Love seeing the riding confidence coming up. 🎉
Because its one of the most scenic roads?..duhhhh
people are so allergic to the parking brake that they do not even know it exist. they all just put the car in P and nothing more.
That was some big country and great scenery! Rose is becoming 'one' with her bike now, but it is sad she did not get stamped at the border.
Why Noah didnt 'Splat' those mossies….. when he had a chance grrrr?? 🙃
The best way to do this road is on a bicycle before they open the road to cars and motorcycles. 🙂
This episode is packed full of wonderful landscapes!
Nice trip around my backyard, I live just 8 miles before you come to West Glacier. I ride my 2016 Ducati Multistrada 1200S/1983 Honda XL600R around these neck of the road.
Great video guys. Great job Rose no drops 👏 you are doing great.
As for people that don't know how to change a tyer, in my opinion shouldn't get a driver's license.
It's always wise to do all your drops (motorcycle or otherwise) early on, so that you don't have to worry about them later 😁 Well done Rose, good job! 🏍 🏆
America is a continent not a country
Awesome ride! Thx!
2 different times and the last video and this video………Great respect for your wife. I was amazed, as women do not do that. Just like my late wife was also. Very very modest. She is amazing. 🤔
Great ride along. Didn't realize I was watching the same couple that came thru Onion Creek in another video I watched earlier. Rose has definitely come a long way since then. Note: At 14:17 in this video, I had an "Oh Shit" moment and caught myself tense up, as I thought I was about to see a low-side crash. It looks like Rose in that shot, bringing up the rear. Chad, please educate her about avoiding riding on and across painted lines, especially in wet/damp road and tire conditions and while leaning the bike around a curve, as seen. They can be slick as ice and cause you to go down in a heartbeat.
Really nice video on one of the nicest rides around. Wonderful soundtrack. Hope you guys enjoyed your time, thanks.
Big smelly cigars will make the moskies go away.
I recognize the beach you camped on the river in Glacier, we where the last August !
Thanks 😊
What month was this filmed?
Greetings Rose Chad, pretty cool doing the sun road, really weird now you have to make reservations, that is really strange, had to do the same for going up Pikes Peak, really takes the fun out of it all in a way but, we went through Chief Mountain portal couple of times, there was a very cool campground called crows nest but not sure if u both made it there or not, Icefields are pretty cool, year before last we got rerouted around Jasper because fires destroyed the city, we were on our way up to Alaska. Anyway can’t wait to see your next video. Take care guys and hang in there. p.s. Rose proud of you keeping that thing upright. Rob down in Al.
Jesus Christ the border guy has a shitty attitude!!!!! Mr. I'm in charge 😮😮😮😮 you should have just told him that you don't like the attitude and turned around!!!!!! 😠😠😠
Way to go Rose, u are doing great, stay at it! Beaver stole your beer in Alaska, now skeeters jacking your phone? What up w all this shit Chad ? Haha ! Been following since you survived the beaver attack, good stuff always from you two !! Thx, and safe adving
thanks great video
❤❤❤❤ Well done Rose… 👍
Wow what stunning scenery! ❤ Safe travels.
Small tidbit. Helena, Montana is pronounced like hell in uh. If I were to open a hand basket company it would be there. Obviously I would call it Helena Hand basket company 😂😂😂
Wow, wow, wow! Insane! Such beautiful nature. We have ridden quite some miles in the US, but we definitely have to return! Maybe not soon because of the current political situation, but for sure in the near future.
Great video, thank you
