Scenic Nagaragawa Railway Ride in Gifu – Rivers, Villages, and Japan’s Countryside
👋 Welcome back to The Perfect Walk! My name is Klint – I’m a Kentuckian out here exploring the world and bringing you along with me! Let’s do this thing!
On Today’s Walk (or Ride): we take a scenic train ride through Gifu Prefecture, Japan on the Nagaragawa Railway — an immersive journey along the picturesque Nagara River and through charming rural towns, forests, and rolling hills. From the window seat, you’ll see traditional Japanese houses, riverside landscapes, rice paddies, and bridges, all framed by the serene flow of the river and the surrounding mountains. The gentle rhythm of the train, the sound of wheels on tracks, and occasional station stops provide a relaxing yet engaging experience, showcasing life in rural Japan in vivid detail. Seasonal changes enhance the scenery — cherry blossoms in spring, lush greenery in summer, colorful foliage in autumn, and quiet snowscapes in winter — offering a constantly shifting view of the countryside. Observing locals, commuters, and small stations along the route adds authenticity to the journey, while panoramic vistas highlight the contrast between tranquil rural life and the occasional urban touch. Whether you’re a train enthusiast, planning a visit, or love immersive scenic rides, this video captures the sights, sounds, and atmosphere of the Nagaragawa Railway. From riverside reflections and quaint villages to the natural beauty of the Gifu region, every mile of the journey offers a visually captivating, sensory-rich experience.

Nice train ride and the train car looked cool😎Thank you for sharing Wander🙂👍!!!
When I was a kid, I remember reading a book that said the reason Japan roofs have points on the ends was to keep evil spirits out. I see that's not so for modern roofs.
I was a highschool student in Mino (Mugi Highschool) I took this train daily from Sekiguchi station, close to where i lived, to Umeyama station. Today after 26 years i was finally in this part of Japan to take this train and relive the experience including a visit to my former school.
