    The best time to do this is during December when everyone has the Christmas decorations up. Snow on the mountains, glistening on the prairies. Snow just makes it magical.

    We took a trip from Vancouver to Banff on the Rocky Mountaineer. Loved, loved that trip the Rocky Mountains and all that area is so scenic. I would highly recommend going to Lake Louis, try the tramps, rent a car visit all those wonderful areas. Great video, thanks.

    Transcanada is a train made exclusively for rich canadians.You need a fortune to travel by train in Canada ( i mean a train not an urban transit) We need a line of credit to get in if we really want to see hiw it feels like inside. it's disgusting.

    I did this trip in the other direction with my two sons when they were young but old enough to appreciate it. I have to say that VIA rail tries hard but they are pretty much second class, even tacky at times. Service is often sub-standard and in winter the cars are too cold. The stunning views in the Rockies make it totally worth going, but until you get to Alberta it is a huge snore. I suggest you fly to Edmonton and board the train there, take it to Vancouver.
