FIRST TIME IN BRUSSELS, BELGIUM šŸ‡§šŸ‡Ŗ This City Feels So Cozy!

This is incredible. SoĀ
beautiful, isn’t it? Wow. Wow. Could you believe it? We are in Brussels. We areĀ
in Belgium for the first time, in Brussels. So much colder than where we were before. We wentĀ
from the tropical weather in Koh Samui wearing Crocs and shorts and tank tops and now we layeredĀ
up wearing long johns. Yeah, I have thermals in here. I also have like two thick layers, but IĀ
think I need to add another layer of thermals in there. We’re not really Canadian anymore. IĀ
feel like our bodies are made for Thailand now. So the reason that we are here in Brussels isĀ
because we have been sent here by Airalo, which is the eSIM that we’ve been using for the past 2Ā
years and they sent us here to explore Christmas markets. We are not only coming to Brussels,Ā
we’re also going to Germany to Cologne to France which is Strasbourg. So, we’re going toĀ
experience different types of Christmas markets in Europe. And we’re really excited because I don’tĀ
think we’ve ever been to like a real Christmas market. No, not really. I never experienced theĀ
Christmas spirit. Only in the malls, but that’s not like real. Like that’s like Thailand. WeĀ
go see the Christmas tree every year, you know, but there’s no real Christmas spirit. So, I thinkĀ
Europe just does Christmas way better. And we’re excited to explore it. You can actually see thisĀ
is part of the Christmas market already here. It’s called the Winter Wonders of Brussels.Ā
We’re obviously too early for it. It’s still morning time right now. Bunch of the shopsĀ
are still not open yet. I think around 5:00pm is when it gets really lively. So, we’ll comeĀ
back here later in the day. Right now, let’s go get coffee. A coffee. Maybe a waffle or pastryĀ
or something like that to start our day here. Wow. Nice. Smells good. It’s so cozy in here. I think a lotĀ
of places that we have seen so far is like very cold outside and inside isĀ
cozy people gathering and sitting having a coffee. Cozy is the vibe I’m gettingĀ
from from Brussels. Wow. What did you end up getting for yourself? I got a flat whiteĀ
and I got you an Americano, but I messed up. You know what is popular here is their batchĀ
brew coffee because they have these specially roasted beans and they have the batch brew coffeeĀ
on the side, but I didn’t see it so we didn’t get to try it. And what is that? Oh, and cardamomĀ
bun. I’ve seen our friends Adriana and Dylan 2Passports1Dream eat cardamom bum bums cardamomĀ
buns all the time when they were in Europe. So I really wanted to try it. It looks reallyĀ
yummy. This is so nice. Cheers. Cheers. Oh. Oh, this is really good though. Yeah. VeryĀ
good coffee. M. One of the best. What’s your name? I’m Shane. Shane. Nice to meet you.Ā
I’m Sean. Sean. Sorry. Nice to meet you, Shane. And Sean. You guys are brothers? Brothers.Ā
Oh. Where are you from? We’re from Boston. Oh, okay. Okay. Have you been? No. No. We haven’tĀ
been to Boston. Yeah. First day in Brussels and we got recognized already. This is crazy. AndĀ
also by Thai audience. That’s awesome. Okay, let me try my cardamom bum bum. I keep sayingĀ
bum cardamom. Cardamom bun. Unfortunately, it’s not like fresh out of theĀ
oven, so it’s a bit cold already. Still delicious. It’s still really good. HowĀ
you say delicious in French? Delicieuse. Oh, really? That’s an easy one. You want to try? Yeah. You like it? I love it. It tastes like chai. It’s like chai tea that we had in India. cuzĀ
we started to really like the cardamom chai, remember? Yeah, this is delicious. This is so nice. I love the contrast of theseĀ
older buildings and then the newer buildings. It reminds you of Montreal, you said. Yeah, theĀ
buildings remind me of Montreal. And also the construction. Lots of construction around theĀ
city. Oh, I think my dad would love Brussels already. Guinness. Guinness. His favoriteĀ
beer. I guess Irish pub. I guess this place looks Christmassy year round because it’sĀ
green. Yeah. You know what’s interesting though is that we always associate, you know,Ā
Christmas with snow, cold weather, hot drink. But when we were going through immigration and weĀ
were telling the immigration officer our itinerary and and he was like, “Oh, that’s a great route forĀ
Christmas markets.” He’s like, “But in Brussels, no snow.” Mhm. He says they never get snow here.Ā
Isn’t that crazy? I would assume they would get snow here, because it gets cold enough for snow.Ā
It gets cold enough like 0 degrees in Canada, we would see snow already. But then he’s like,Ā
“No, Christmas just lots of beer and drinks make sure to drink mulled wine.” Which we will. WeĀ
will. What are you talking about? There’s no snow in Brussels. Look, that’s obviously fake. It isĀ
fake. Looks so real though. It’s so nice because everywhere you go, you feel the Christmas vibe.Ā
It’s so festive. Like the decorations in front of the shops. Yeah. Look at the the street lights.Ā
All the shops has Christmas decoration up already. So before coming to Brussels, I really didn’tĀ
know much about Belgium. I mean, obviously we’ve heard of things like Belgium beer, Belgium fries.Ā
Oh, Belgian waffles. Waffles. That looks amazing. And also that it’s just like a smaller countryĀ
in Western Europe. I didn’t really know that much about it, but like the first thing we saw whenĀ
we came through immigration was like Brussels is the heart of Europe and I was like why is itĀ
the heart of Europe? Is it a very very important city? And then when I looked it up I was likeĀ
oh because of the location it is really kind of central and also if you look into the languageĀ
and everything it has three languages that are spoken here it’s French, it’s German and Dutch.Ā
It’s also the capital of the European Union. It is where the NATO headquarters is as well.Ā
So there are many reasons actually why it is the heart of Europe. Is this the Grand PlaceĀ
like the Grand Square? Don’t know. It’s not a church. I don’t think it’s a church becauseĀ
there’s no cross. There’s no cross or anything. Oh my goodness. Look at this. Look at Look at theĀ
building. Yeah. This is the square for sure. Wow. This is incredible. Look at the Christmas tree. That’s amazing. Yeah. I’m sure at nightĀ
all the buildings and windows will be lit up and the Christmas tree. The goldĀ
trims just make it look so grand. It looks like we have to come back hereĀ
tonight cuz it says here from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. every 30 minutes. EveryĀ
year they have a light show over here. So, this will become lit up like this. Look atĀ
that. We definitely have to come back. Yeah, that’s awesome. It’s always exciting visiting aĀ
new city, a new country. But there’s also a lot of things that I have to look up. For example, do IĀ
tip in Brussels? Where’s the best Belgium waffles? Um, what are the Christmas treats and snacks thatĀ
I have to try? And that’s why reliable data is really important for us. We’ve been using AiraloĀ
eSIMs for the past 2 years and honestly, it’s just better. If you’ve never used an eSIM before, it’sĀ
basically a digital SIM card you download directly onto your phone. No more swapping SIMs or liningĀ
up at the airport. You get instant connectivity without the high roaming charges. First, you haveĀ
to download the Airalo app so you can browse which plan works best for you. We set up our sSIMS inĀ
Bangkok just before we were boarding our flight to Brussels, and we picked the Europe regional plan,Ā
which covers a ton of countries. We’re starting in Belgium, but we’ll also be visiting ChristmasĀ
markets in Germany and France. And for a limited time, if you use our code F&N20, you will get 20%Ā
off your first eSIM. So, if you’re traveling soon, click the link in our description or scan the QRĀ
code to download the free Airalo app today. And if you use our code F&N20 to purchase yourĀ
eSIM in advance and only activate it when you start your trip, you will be able to takeĀ
advantage of their 20% off your first eSIM. So, thank you Airalo for inviting us on this tripĀ
and let’s continue exploring Brussels together. Are we meeting up somewhere? Yeah, we shouldĀ
be somewhere around here. We actually have two couples joining us as well. Claire and PeterĀ
and Juan and Rhylan so they’re also on this trip with us that is basically Airalo is bringing usĀ
together. We met them for breakfast earlier and they’re all so lovely and we are kind of filmingĀ
everything ourselves like we don’t travel together to film everything but this food tour we areĀ
doing together so that will be exciting. We just need to find them. Oh hello we’re like isĀ
it here? We saw Claire and Peter there too. Hi guys. Hi. How’s the filming? Very good. Very goodĀ
so far. How’s the filming going? Oh, it’s crazy, guys. It’s a beautiful city right here. It remindsĀ
me so much of Paris. You guys are going to have so much fun. We were saying it looks like Montreal.Ā
Oh, yeah. And the construction. First time in Brussels? You are here at the right time becauseĀ
this is a Christmas market moment. So, this is kind of the nice moment. And it’s a Tuesday, soĀ
it’s not too crowded because next weekend is going to be crazy. You excited for this? I am. ChocolateĀ
tour. The thing is she picked the two chocolate places that I really wanted to go try. So this isĀ
perfect. Yeah. You know how you mentioned earlier you want to know the right places to buy chocolateĀ
for our friends? It’s good that we do this tour. So, we’re starting off at the Chanel ofĀ
chocolate. Trying this one first. Be careful, Celine, that nobody takes it. No, no,Ā
this is a private tasting. I’m sorry. At least when it’s a bigger group peopleĀ
can protect us. People think they have free samples. I’ll try this one. Try this one first?Ā
Wow. So, this one is a 75% chocolate from Peru. I think you’re going to find that it’s goingĀ
to be a bit bitter. It’s different from what you think chocolate would taste like. ButĀ
I’m excited to try the Chanel of chocolate. She said, “This chocolate is so fancy.Ā
It’s €175 per kg.” Mhm. That’s expensive. I usually don’t like chocolate, but this oneĀ
is delicious. It’s so smooth for 75%. It’s very smooth. It’s a ganache, so it’s also creamyĀ
inside. That’s so good. What’s a ganache? It’s like chocolate mixed with cream. I’m surprised youĀ
like it. I thought I was going to be able to eat all of your chocolate. No, it’s really good. ThisĀ
one I like. Maybe it’s not that you don’t like chocolate, but you don’t like cheap chocolates.Ā
Maybe. Yeah, maybe. That was really good. This one is a white chocolate with pistachio filling.Ā
Let’s see. Oh, it looks like Dubai chocolate. She said this is the ancestor of Dubai chocolate.Ā
€27. Yeah, that’s expensive, right? I think that’s very expensive considering like they’reĀ
all smaller pieces. Mhm. But I think look at the packaging. It’s so minimalistic. It justĀ
looks luxurious. Looks like a fancy watch shop. So what’s special about the Pierre Marcolini shopĀ
is that they do single origin chocolate. So it’s like beans come from one place and usually that’sĀ
almost like harder to make it taste good because sometimes it’s easier to blend different beansĀ
to in order for it to, you know, taste smoother, taste better. So I think that’s where the theĀ
craftsmanship comes from. See, this one is from Bali. The chocolate’s from Bali. China, fromĀ
Hainan. Interesting. Yeah. Very. Is there one from Thailand? Because Thailand does have chocolateĀ
now. Thailand does have chocolate, but no, they don’t have Thailand here. Indonesia, Madagascar,Ā
Congo. I think more and more places that have like a colder region in Asia are starting to grow aĀ
lot of coffee and chocolate. Um, but I think the skills are nowhere as good as here in Brussels.Ā
So far, what I like about Brussels is that the streets are so walkable. Yeah. And everywhere youĀ
go, it smells so good. Smell of coffee, seafood restaurant. There’s already a place that our guideĀ
was telling us about mussels and we really want to go try. So maybe we’ll head back there afterĀ
the tour. But right now, we’re going to a pub, a bar to try some Belgium beer. And then we’reĀ
gonna do another round of chocolate. I like it. Now that’s cool. This is nice. See, as tourists,Ā
we would never walk into this alley. Yeah. We would be like, “This seems sketchy.” ButĀ
no, once you go in there, it’s so cozy. Wow. Wow. Cool, Man, these stairs are scary. Woh! WatchĀ
this one. Careful. It’s so narrow. So cute. Yeah. Wow. This is awesome. So cute. Okay. First beer inĀ
Belgium. I think I’ve never actually had Belgium beer at all. She said that this is a bit like aĀ
Flanders red. Like you can tell with the color, Delicious, has a fruity taste at the end. Yeah, it’s really smooth.
ReallyĀ clean. It’s quite easy. Would be nice with ice, too. Sorry, we live in Thailand. That’s Thai.Ā
We do. Actually, we do. I’m saying that because in Thailand it’s very common to drink beer withĀ
ice because it’s so hot there. So I was curious why Belgium is so known for beer and why there’sĀ
like so many types of beers brewed in Belgium. And then when I was looking that up, one of theĀ
reasons was that there were a lot of monasteries back in the day. So monks were brewing differentĀ
types of beer and beer was safer to drink than water at the time. Oh wow. I don’t know, maybe theĀ
fermentation process, everything it made it safe and that’s one of the reasons, but also theyĀ
didn’t have strict rules for brewing alcohol, not like Germany. So, people were justĀ
like craft brewing beer in different towns, different cities. Did you enjoy that? Yeah, thatĀ
was a nice beer. I’m glad we had just a small cup cuz there’s more beer and more chocolates to come.Ā
Honestly, I’m already feeling a bit tipsy. I know. And that one was only 5% too. Oh, okay. That’sĀ
the name of the bar. I think we’re going here. This one. Elisabeth. Isn’t this one of the placesĀ
that you wanted to go? Yeah. I’ve seen this place. Wow. They have more than just chocolates.Ā
Look, there’s cakes and stuff, too. So what’s different from this shop from theĀ
previous one is that this one has chocolate from different chocolatiers like local kind ofĀ
artisan chocolate instead of like the Pierre Marcolini who has like his own brand. So this isĀ
almost like a shop that promotes different local craftsman and at a more affordable price. Yeah,Ā
I think this is where we will do some souvenir shopping. So this one is 100% chocolate.Ā
It’s really for eating good health benefits. You said that’s good? I thought it’s pretty good. So this is what chocolate really tastes likeĀ
actually. Almond liquor and it’s sweet. If you don’t want to, you don’t try it. It’s likeĀ
a shot, put it in your mouth because it will break inside. Yeah. The whole thing. What’sĀ
going on? Use your words. No, that’s not what I expected. Did they explode? Yeah. Yeah,Ā
they do. This is a shot. I told you we’re having shots right now. Ready? Like exploding.Ā
I know. You’re turning red. I don’t do shots well. Is that a good or not good? It’s something.Ā
Oh, the liquor hit you. That’s strong. You can definitely get drunk. Just chocolate andĀ
then the second bite you got all the… So, are we buying a box? I think so. It’sĀ
so unique. It is. Yeah. The aftertaste is good once the the alcohol is gone. My dadĀ
would like it. We’ll get him the whiskey one. So, we just finished the food tour. It’s aboutĀ
5:00 p.m. It’s already starting to get dark, though. Yeah, and all the buildings lit upĀ
already. I actually quite enjoyed the tour. It was more like a beer and chocolate tour, butĀ
then Mary, who is the guide for us, she was able to give us a lot of information about BrusselsĀ
and a lot of local recommendations. And one of them we are going to try now is this place calledĀ
Chez Leon. You want to try mussels. She’s not the only person who recommended it. There’s anotherĀ
person on Instagram, one of our subscribers called Helene. She also recommended this place to us. So,Ā
I feel like come on, two local people. It must be good. So, if you’re in Brussels and you want toĀ
do the tour, check out Hungry Mary. Hungry Mary Food Tour. We will put the link of her websiteĀ
in our description. I think it’s really good to do it early in your trip so you are shoppingĀ
and eating at the right places that locals enjoy in Brussels. Yeah, this is really cute. Ah, itĀ
smells so good in here. Okay, thank you. Oh, nice. There’s a lot a lot of Asian people here.Ā
Hello. You noticed that? Yeah. This is the most Asians we’ve seen. Oh, look. It saidĀ
congrats Leon Nagoya Japan 1992. What does that mean? Is the owner Japanese?Ā
Oh, that’s why owner is Japanese. That makes sense. That’s so interesting.Ā
Interesting. You see there’s a statue of the boy peeing here too. We don’t have to line up andĀ
try to see it. You can just come here to see the little boy peeing. Actually, I didn’t even tellĀ
you the story when we were there at the fountain. There’s like a story about the little boyĀ
who is a savior for the city of Brussels. He would go around peeing on, you know,Ā
fires that start, you know, bad people, pee on soldiers. Like he was basically he peesĀ
on all the bad things to protect the city. That’s like one theory. The other theory has something toĀ
do with lots of leather making businesses was in that area and they used urine to to do somethingĀ
with the leather and that’s why. The first story is more cool is more cool and sometimes he peesĀ
out beer which is even like very very Belgian. Wow. Yes. Thank you. This is veryĀ
good. Wow. This is very good. Yes. Thank you. Wow. So then how about this? Oh,Ā
for the fries. Oh, okay. We came here to try this. The famous Brussels mussels. This one is butterĀ
and garlic, I believe. And looks like there’s some herbs on top as well. And they always eat musclesĀ
with fries here. Moules et frites. And then you dip it into this. This is almost like um likeĀ
an aioli, I think. I don’t know what they call it here, but that’s what they dip fries in. ThankĀ
you. Oo, garlicky. Is it very garlicky? Nice. They don’t use ketchup. I like that. And then we alsoĀ
got the Chez Leon bouillabaisse, which is like a seafood stew. That looks amazing. That looks soĀ
good. Wow. Look at this. They actually have many variety of how they cook mussels. Mhm. A lot ofĀ
them have cheese on top. I can’t eat cheese, so we went with this garlic and butter. Yeah. Yeah. It’sĀ
really good. It’s so creamy. It tastes so fresh. And the seasoning is just perfect. Little bitĀ
salty. That’s perfect. And then you eat fries with it. Now, this I’m very excited. Yeah. This hasĀ
so many goodies. We have mussels, we have prawns, we have we have fish. Is this one fish? I thinkĀ
so. And then we have squid. Oh, another piece of fish here. Looks like salmon. Yeah, salmon.Ā
Another piece of fish here. This looks amazing. I’m going to try the squid first. I’m probablyĀ
going to get it on my shirt. Yeah. Be careful. Nice? Have to drink the broth. I remember the lastĀ
time we had something like this was in San Francisco and we fell in love with it. ButĀ
San Francisco has like a different fish stew, like a seafood stew called cioppino. So it’sĀ
specific to like San Francisco, but it has the same kind of ingredients and similar tasteĀ
and we loved it. So this is bouillabaisse. So it’s different. It’s more like a French stew.Ā
So good. Look at how meaty the fish is. Wow. Oh my goodness. The fish is so amazing. IĀ
knew you would like this one. Oh my god. It’s cheaper than we expected. Really? WhatĀ
is it? €65. Oh, that’s pretty good. Do they add a service charge? Usually they do. And I alsoĀ
asked Mary, our guide earlier. She said tipping is not required here unless you enjoy the service orĀ
you say you go to a nice place like this then you tip. Yeah. And she said even if you leave a tipĀ
it’s usually like €5 – €10 they would be really happy with that already. So yeah I just gave himĀ
five bucks and I mean €5 and he was very happy. Wow, this is all candy. That’s insane. Even theĀ
raccoon there. The candy is not the insane part. Like look at the backdrop. The backdrop. It’sĀ
like it’s a small world after all. You know, it’s so intense. Wow. You want to try the BelgianĀ
waffle here? I don’t know how to tell if it’s good or not. Yeah. But this is only part of the market.Ā
They don’t actually call it Christmas market here. It’s called the Winter Wonders. And it’s notĀ
like one market. It’s many different parts of the market all spread out near the center of Brussels.Ā
So, this is just like a small portion of it. If we keep going to the right, I think there’s goingĀ
to be a lot more stalls. Let’s go there to check out what is there. But I love it. I love thisĀ
festive vibe. I don’t think we’ve ever experienced something like this for Christmas before. FunnyĀ
you say that because growing up in a Asian household, we don’t really celebrate Christmas. WeĀ
may put, you know, a small tree up and do a little gift exchange, but it’s never that big of a deal.Ā
We don’t do, what is it? Turkey dinner. I think when I was younger, we used to do that with likeĀ
other families and we would do the turkey dinner, all the Christmas stuff. And my parents would doĀ
the tree and the presents but only when we were little because I think they were doing thatĀ
cuz we were growing up in Canada so they feel obligated to do it. But then when we got older,Ā
it’s not really part of family tradition. And I feel like in Canada, Christmas is more of a familyĀ
gathering. You don’t really make it a big deal about going outside enjoying the markets cuz theĀ
markets that we went to were like community center or community hall kind of markets. I think maybeĀ
it’s because where we used to live in Calgary, it gets so cold in December. Sometimes it’sĀ
like minus 30. No one’s want to walk outside, right? I think it’s also kind of sad thatĀ
Christmas became more about, you know, Boxing Day sale and all of that and shoppingĀ
malls, but it is not about like this where it’s a whole city celebrating Christmas. That’s whatĀ
it feels like everywhere. It’s just everyone’s excited about it. It’s quite a nice experience.Ā
I think we never really got this before. This is where we started this morning. Yeah. Looks veryĀ
different at night. Feels so different. So this big building here is actually the beer museum.Ā
So you can go inside to learn about how they brew beer. There’s a nice brewery or I think a nice barĀ
at the top as well. But we had our fair share of beer today. Fair share of beer and chocolate andĀ
fries. Remember when we came in at immigration, the immigration officer said, “You have to tryĀ
gluwein” Yes. This says gluwein. I don’t know what it is. It’s mulled wine. So, it’s likeĀ
hot wine with cinnamon and spices and stuff. I think we have to try it. We’re here. Yeah, weĀ
can get one to try. Hi. Can I get one gluwein? Yeah. That’s all. That’s all. You can exchange itĀ
everywhere on the market. Oh, okay. Okay. Okay. Oh, nice and warm. So, he said that the cupĀ
is €1 and we can exchange it anywhere at the shops for €1. Get €1 back. So, it’s sixĀ
total minus one. So, it’s five euros. What does it smell like? Smells like hot red wine.Ā
Yeah. Smells quite strong actually. [Music] Woo! It’s good. It’s good. Is it strong? It’sĀ
strong, but it’s sweet. I was actually going to find a place that has cute mugs cuz IĀ
saw there were places that sell the wine, but then they have really cute mugs cuzĀ
you pay for the mug anyway. And it was, hey, this one cute. If it was cuteĀ
enough, then I would take it home. Excuse me. It’s so strong. That one isĀ
pretty cute, though. It says 2023 though. They recycle the cup. That’s good. That’s so strong. Yeah. Oh my goodness.Ā
I don’t know if I like it. It’s really strong. Interesting. It almost tastes a bitĀ
like medicinal to me. it. I don’t find it even that sweet. But it does keep you warm asĀ
you are browsing the markets for sure. Yeah, but maybe I just need a hot chocolate. Oh, wait.Ā
No, I was going to say hot chocolate, but I’m chocolate out today. Waffle. Belgian waffle. Yeah,Ā
there’s a ferris wheel at the end. Looks so nice. Yay! For €20, we should get our own private one, right? It would be so sad if we had to share. Oh myĀ
god. This is your captain speaking. I wish you a warm welcome on board this BrusselsĀ
Airlines Airbus Amari. The flight time to Tomorrowland will take 10 minutes and weĀ
expect smooth flying conditions. Relax and enjoy the flight with us today. Thank you forĀ
choosing Brussels Airlines at Tomorrowland. Brussels Airlines. Look at this. Why are they not playing Christmas music? It’s like clubbing in the air. It’s getting crazier. It’s like real club now.
I can’t do it. It was nice, but I’m not sure about the music choices. Yeah. I feel like ifĀ
they made it Christmas music, it would be really romantic. But for €20 forĀ
club music, I’m sorry I wouldn’t do it again. I’m so excited. It looks so good. Finally gotĀ
it. Wow. Belgium waffle with a scoop of mango gelato on top because you can’t eat anythingĀ
that’s chocolatey. So yeah, we can’t try like the speculoos or something and Nutella andĀ
they have a lot of different toppings. But wow, this is actually not as expensive as I thought itĀ
would be. The waffle is only €5 and then ice cream is €3, so this was €8. But it’s freshly made.Ā
It’s super hot. Let’s go back to the square, watch the light show, and enjoy the waffle. ButĀ
can we actually taste it now? It’s so fresh. Wow. We have been walking all nightĀ
finding a waffle place. They don’t really sell waffles at the chalet that isĀ
part of the Christmas market. We saw some, but they don’t look like they’re real. TheyĀ
don’t actually look as good. But this place, we walked by earlier in the day. It’s when we didĀ
a double take of someone with the waffles. So, we thought we would come back toĀ
this place. Ooh, sounds crispy. Yeah, it’s so good that every single one isĀ
made to order. Ice cream, piece of waffle. One of the best. This was what I was lookingĀ
forward to coming to Brussels, coming to Belgium. This is the bestĀ
waffle I’ve ever had in my life. It’s so good, right? I agree. Like, how do theyĀ
make it? Probably the best waffle I ever had. So light and airy. It’s not overpowered by, youĀ
know, butter or egg or anything. It’s perfect. What happened to the light? Oh, I thinkĀ
it’s starting. It’s just starting. Nice. So, what do you think of your first ChristmasĀ
market experience? I had a wonderful time. I think Brussel is so cozy. everywhere weĀ
go. So beautiful. It was just so walkable. And even though we didn’t really explore too farĀ
because we’ve been going back and forth this area, but the contrast between the day and the nighttimeĀ
is so different. I really enjoyed it. I think it it’s a really nice city, but also a greatĀ
place to explore for like one or two days, I feel, and then it’s easy to move on to otherĀ
cities. probably in Belgium would be really nice, but we are going to Germany tomorrow. We’reĀ
going to Cologne. Mhm. It will be a quick stop, just one night, and then we go to StrasbourgĀ
for two nights. So, I’m looking forward to seeing the Christmas markets there. IĀ
think it will be more like fairy tale, like more small town village because thisĀ
one is like a big city type of Christmas even though I really enjoyed this one, butĀ
I’m extra excited for the small town ones. So, I hope you enjoyed spending the day with us inĀ
Brussels. We will see you in the next city. Have a wonderful day. Bye-bye. Bye. So beautiful,Ā
isn’t it? Is our camera still there? Yeah. You know, I wasn’t looking at the lights.Ā
You’re like this. I was like this. Wow.

This is our first time in Belgium and the first stop of our European Christmas Markets series, starting in Brussels! We explored the city with a local who showed us the best spots for Belgian chocolates, beer, and hidden gems around town. One of the highlights was Winter Wonders, Brussels’ Christmas markets spread across the city center, packed with lights, festive stalls, and cozy holiday vibes. Brussels was such a fun and magical way to kick off our Europe Christmas trip, and it got us even more excited for all the markets still to come. If you love Christmas markets, winter travel, and festive cities, this series is just getting started!

  1. The mussels look delicious, wish I was there!. Brugge just north of Brussels is also a nice city with canals, like Thailand.
