Walking Through Japan’s Floating Village: Ine Boathouses

Hello! Hello!
I’m The Solo Bumpkin Travels. I’m currently in Ine, Kyoto a traditional fishing town that still preserves its old charm. where boathouses floating on the sea
continue to be carefully preserved Let’s take a walk around Ine town
together this time! It’s currently 9:00 in the morning You can leave your luggage at this
information desk. It’s a quiet morning The fisherman may be taking a break after
work. Let’s take a quiet walk You can get to Ine by bus, which runs
once an hour. Tours are also available from
Osaka and Kyoto. Looks like I can get down from here Let’s get closer to the sea There are a few clouds The waves are very calm because it’s in
the bay. There are several places to stay in Ine. Perfect for those who want to enjoy some
quiet time There are also a few restaurants Many restaurants require advance
reservations I recommend you to check it carefully Much of Ine is privately owned Even if you want to take photos, please
do not enter. Still, it’s an old wooden house. It’s amazing how it remains so beautiful I bet people here have taken good care of it Marine taxi “Ine Cafe” If you call, they’ll come and pick you up here. It’s exciting It’s one of the few cafes where you can
eat. Starving😋 I ordered the lunch menu Ta-dah! Ine Yellowtail Rice Bowl What a luxury with a panoramic view of
Ine Bay ITADAKIMASU!! Wow, the slices are big 🥰 Add wasabi… Wrapped in vinegared rice Enjoy with yuzu sauce This is already… The best👏 The yuzu pepper is also delicious. I could eat another bowl lol And the scenery and Ghibli songs go
perfectly together. It’s a very satisfying solo😍 Take a walk to cool down my body Warm up with a roasted green tea latte I had a relaxing time Thank you for the meal! I heard there are stairs leading to the
roadside station. Is this it? Huh? Definitely not lol Ah! Everyone, it was this way. That’s right haha But these stairs… It’s long… Here we go Huff… Huff… shortness of breath I feel sorry for my lack of stamina… Phew! I did it! Thank you everyone for your support! View from the hill There is a small souvenir shop and a
restaurant Buy a snack Grilled dried mackerel The herons and seagulls are looking away …Are they fighting? Let’s take a cruise boat that you can
board without a reservation Wow, the sea is close They’ll depart anytime with at least two people. Let’s go! Enjoy the ride with me It is said that there are 230 boathouses
in Ine Bay. I was surprised to find that there were
more than I expected. Ine has almost no flat land because the
mountains come so close to the sea. A funaya is a boathouse: boats below, living space above. Currently, the number of fishermen is
rapidly decreasing due to aging. Nevertheless, fishing cooperatives and
fishing boats are still going strong. Captain: That’s an old-fashioned squid
fishing boat. Captain: That island acts as a
breakwater, so the waves don’t hit us. No wonder the waves are calm That’s a sightseeing cruise ship That boat is shielding me from the seagulls 😂 Actually, I chose this one because I’m
afraid of seagulls. But then…! This boat also came with a feeding
experience 😆 The seagull is keeping up skillfully Do your best to catch it! This is a cafe run by a friend of the
captain. You can even get on and off here Let’s go later This is Mukai Sake Brewery Of course we’ll go later! It was a fun cruise I immediately went to the cafe. You can buy coffee here and drink it in
the boathouse. This is what a boathouse looks like It has a rustic garage feel and is
relaxing. Maybe I’ll sit here and have some coffee. The view is also great Above all, it’s quiet and you can just
relax. It looks like you can really get on from
here! You can also bring your own coffee If you look closely, you’ll see fishing nets Finally, we head to the only sake brewery
in Ine Tasting and tours are not available You can purchase the rare pink sake
called Ine Mankai. After getting some sake, we head to our
lodging for the night. A quiet area about 5 minutes by bus from
Ine Bay This is Funaya in Hinode, Ine Town. There is a shrine Watching over the boathouses This is today’s accommodation The boathouse facing the sea comes with a
private hot spring. Wow! Of course I chose the cheap one
with no hot springs or ocean view lol But don’t worry You can come and see this place next to
the reception anytime. Now let’s go into the room This inn is a renovated old house Watch your head Today’s room is here Is it okay to have such a spacious room
for a solo trip? There is no hot spring or bathtub, only a
shower All amenities are provided so you can
come empty-handed. Discover the remains of an old house Is it a Shinto altar? Chill my sake in the refrigerator Tea sets and snacks are also available. What on earth is this? oh? It’s a charger. That’s nice. But there is no place to eat here I’ll have today’s purchases for dinner
lol You take a taxi or a bus and go out for a delicious meal 🫶 Today We walked around Ine, a traditional fishing town in Kyoto Ine is troubled by overtourism I truly hope that if we show respect for
the residents and have fun, it will remain forever. I’m also grateful to the people who’ve preserved it Thank you for watching until the end! Please subscribe and like our channel🫶 Let’s go for a walk together again 👋 see you~!
