【日帰り旅行】食べまくり!那覇グルメ|那覇空港・国際通り・首里城復元工事見学まで12時間で楽しむ沖縄|OKINAWA NAHA JAPAN ONE DAY TRIP

Hello! This is Kumako. This video takes you on a day trip from Tokyo to Okinawa, Japan. I enjoyed Okinawan cuisine at Naha Airport and Kokusai Street. For Kumako, this is her first time in Okinawa since she was a student. (She hides her age so it would be obvious.) It’s at a level that could be said to be a first for Okinawa. Kumao is the one who shows Kumako around. Kumako was worried because she thought Kumao was sloppy. Kumako was worried because she thought Kumao was sloppy. Please enjoy Kumao’s guide to Naha’s gourmet food until the very end. So let’s get started! good morning. I am currently at Terminal 2 of Haneda Airport in Tokyo. The time now is 5:15 in the morning. I wake up very early I’m very sleepy. The flight departs at 6:25. There is still some time before the flight departs, I’ll have breakfast in the ANA lounge before heading to the boarding gate. (Quite hearty!) (Mount Fuji looked beautiful.) (The departure was delayed by 25 minutes.) (The flight from Haneda to Naha takes 2 hours and 50 minutes.) We’ve arrived at Naha Airport! The current time is 9:45. Now, let’s take a look around Naha Airport for the first time in XX years. I immediately found a restaurant that looked delicious. “Po Tama” is located right outside the domestic arrival gate. The menu looks like this It looks very delicious, but there are still so many delicious restaurants to choose from that I can’t fill my stomach here. It looks very delicious, but there are still so many delicious restaurants to choose from that I can’t fill my stomach here. Let’s move on! Our guide, Kumao, who has been to Naha Airport many times to train for airline status, took us to the “Airport Restaurant” located in the arrival lobby on the first floor. Our guide, Kumao, who has been to Naha Airport many times to train for airline status, took us to the “Airport Restaurant” located in the arrival lobby on the first floor. This restaurant serves Okinawan home cooking using Okinawan ingredients at reasonable prices, and is popular with residents who have returned to Okinawa and airport staff. Since you’ve come all the way to Okinawa, you’d like to enjoy Okinawan cuisine, but there are so many other restaurants that you won’t be able to fill your stomach here. I want to eat it right now, but I resist the urge and move on. Next, we arrived at the domestic departure lobby on the second floor of the airport building. As far as the eye can see, it is filled with souvenir shops. In this area, you can enjoy tastings at “MELLOWHICH,” a pound cake specialty shop that uses Okinawan ingredients. Okinawa’s first brand offering a variety of banana sweets: “Banana Paradise” There are places like “JAL Plaza”. In this area, various Okinawan souvenirs are sold, including not only Okinawan sweets, but also Okinawan fruits, local Okinawan foods, and Awamori liquor. Located at the back of the souvenir shop is the “Royal Snack Court,” where you can enjoy Okinawan cuisine in a food court setting. Located at the back of the souvenir shop is the “Royal Snack Court,” where you can enjoy Okinawan cuisine in a food court setting. There is another snack court on the other side of the welcome hall. This is the shop in question: “Snack Court by Fugetsu.” Kumako loves soft serve ice cream, so she is captivated by the purple sweet potato soft serve. In this area, you will find Jimmy’s, a long-established Okinawan bakery. This is the brown sugar canelé “Hokiboshi” I had Kumao buy me some “Hokiboshi” as a souvenir some time ago, and they are bite-sized and easy to eat. “Hokiboshi” was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside and was very delicious. I bought a limited edition canelé and purple sweet potato dip ice cream here. I found a bench so I can relax and enjoy it. You can top your “Purple Sweet Potato DIP Ice Cream” with one canelé of your choice, so I chose the “Island Strawberry Canelé.” The “Purple Sweet Potato Ice Cream” is sprinkled with purple sweet potato powder, allowing you to fully enjoy the flavor of the sweet potato. Here are three types of limited-time “Christmas Canelés” and the “classic banana” canelé. Both the canelés and the soft serve ice cream were delicious with a gentle sweetness. The Okashi Goten was located very close to the Houkiboshi. When you think of Okinawa souvenirs, the first thing that comes to mind is the “Purple Sweet Potato Tart” from Okashi Goten, right? I want to buy it on my way home. Now that we’ve looked at the domestic flight area, we’d like to move on to the international flight area. This is “YUINICHI STREET” “YUINICHI STREET” is a commercial area located within the connecting terminal facility that connects the domestic and international terminals of Naha Airport. “YUINICHI STREET” opened on March 18, 2019 “YUINICHI STREET” is a shopping street with a collection of specialty souvenir shops and restaurants, based on the concept of Japanese brands and Okinawa premium products. The name “YUINICHI STREET” is a combination of the Okinawan word “YUI” and the Japanese word “NICHI.” The name is said to mean “a place where the charms of Okinawa and Japan blend together.” This is the “Shuri Castle Reconstruction Support Plaza” located in the international terminal area on the second floor of the airport building. It was created to support the restoration of Shuri Castle, which was destroyed by fire on October 31, 2019. There were such cute tourist panels. It’s a very good learning experience. I arrived at Kenmin Shokudo in the international terminal area on the 3rd floor of the airport building, but it was before opening hours. This is the visitor deck on the 4th floor of the airport building. It’s a little-known secret spot on the deck at the very end of Naha Airport, and there are no people around. I took a deep breath and felt the Okinawan breeze all over my body. Airport Building 4th Floor, International Area, “North Food Court” You can enjoy soup curry restaurants such as “CRAZY SPAICE” and “Yoshinoya”, which originated in Hokkaido. You can enjoy the “Taco Rice” menu, which is only available at “Yoshinoya” at Naha Airport. There is another food court across from the open-air “Fukugi Hall.” This is the “South Food Court” There is a rice bowl specialty restaurant that is particular about the ingredients. There is also a tonkatsu restaurant called “Shinjuku Saboten” From here, go down to the third floor of the airport building and return to the domestic terminal area. On the third floor of the airport building is A&W, a long-established Okinawan fast food restaurant. This is the restaurant floor in the domestic terminal area on the 4th floor of the airport building. This floor is also lined with restaurants where you can enjoy Okinawan cuisine. Just Naha Airport is enough to give you a taste of traveling. I would like to travel from Naha Airport to Kokusai Street by Yui Rail. The official name of “Yui Rail” is “Okinawa Urban Monorail Line” This is Okinawa’s only public transportation monorail, connecting Naha Airport Station to Tedako-Uranishi Station in Urasoe City. The “yui” in “Yui Rail” is said to come from the Okinawan word “yuimaru,” which means “mutual help.” The last time Kumako came to Okinawa, X years ago, the Yui Rail had not yet opened.
(Yui Rail opened on August 10, 2003) Traveling around Okinawa has become so much easier! Following Kumao’s guidance, we got off at Asahibashi Station and walked for five minutes to Naha City Hall. I have no business at Naha City Hall. Kumao had been raving about how amazing the Naha City Hall building was, so we decided to pass by the building on our way to Kokusai Street. This Naha City Hall was designed by the famous Okinawan architect Yukifusa Kuniba, who also designed the Okinawa Sea Aquarium. This Naha City Hall was designed by the famous Okinawan architect Yukifusa Kuniba, who also designed the Okinawa Sea Aquarium. Based on the concept of a “government building filled with greenery,” the walls and rooftop are actively greened. There are about 90 types of plants planted here that are suited to Okinawa’s subtropical climate. It’s certainly a beautiful government building. 3 minutes walk from Naha City Hall. We have arrived at Kokusai Street. “Naha Kokusai Street” is a popular tourist and commercial area in Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture. Naha Kokusai Street stretches for about 1.6 km from the Prefectural Office North Exit Intersection to Asato Mitsumata Road, and is lined with approximately 600 stores and businesses. It is crowded with many tourists. You can find souvenirs unique to Okinawa and enjoy Okinawan cuisine. The backstreets are home to shopping districts such as Heiwa-dori and Makishi Public Market, which are closely connected to the daily lives of local people. The current time is 12 noon. We decided to have lunch at A&W at the entrance to Kokusai Street. A&W is a fast food chain that originated in the United States and is especially famous for its root beer. They have a menu of hamburgers, hot dogs, and other items that go well with root beer. In Japan, it is mainly available in Okinawa Prefecture and is said to be a popular Okinawan soul food. The menu looks like this. This is what I ordered. This is “the A&W Burger Set.” Beef, tomato, lettuce, fried onion, cream cheese, and brown sugar pepper pork make this a very filling meal. There were a lot of ingredients, so I thought the taste might be a bit off. Surprisingly, the creamy texture of the cream cheese brings the other ingredients together nicely. Surprisingly, the creamy texture of the cream cheese brings the other ingredients together nicely. This is truly A&W’s signature hamburger. These are the curly fries that come with the set. This one is also spicy and addictive. The “A&W” at Naha Airport was very crowded, This “A&W” has spacious seating on the second and third floors, so you can enjoy your meal at your leisure even at lunchtime. By the way, this root beer is apparently a favorite drink of Snoopy and his friends. There are many scenes throughout the film where Snoopy and his friends are seen enjoying root beer. On my way home I found this sign. Of course, I rang the bell as I left the store! It was very delicious. Thank you for the meal. “Shisa Cookie” under “A&W” “Shisa Cookie” is based on the “Shisa”, a traditional guardian deity of Okinawa. “Shisa Cookie” is a shortbread filled with plenty of ingredients unique to Okinawa. There is also a tasting corner, so you can freely mix and match your favorite cookies. It would be nice to receive such cute cookies as a souvenir. Our next stop was Yukishio Sandwich, located across from A&W. “Yukishio Sandwich” is a popular snack that originated in Miyakojima. “Yuki Shio Sandwich” is a sandwich cookie that has a fun texture and a sweet and salty taste that creates an exquisite harmony. I ordered “Snow Salt Soft Cream”. I ordered it with snow salt sandwich topping. It’s surprisingly delicious! The sweetness and saltiness are exquisite and you can eat as much as you want. There are samples of salt in various flavors available, so you can enjoy the different flavors by pouring them over your soft serve ice cream. Although it is called salt, it only has a slight salty taste and is not too salty. Salt goes really well with ice cream! I finished it in no time. The store was packed with other sweets and gifts made with snow salt for sale. [ music ] Snow salt sandwich♪Snow salt sandwich♪ Delicious just as it is! Snow salt sandwich ♪ Snow salt sandwich♪Snow salt sandwich♪ Delicious chilled! Snow salt sandwich ♪ Miyakojima snow salt sandwich ♪ Salted white chocolate flavor! Well then Since arriving at Kokusai Street, I’ve only been to the three stores at the entrance, so I’d like to keep going. This is Mango House, a specialty store that sells Okinawan Kariyushi wear. MANGO HOUSE’s Kariyushi wear is not only custom made, but also comes in a variety of designs and sizes. There are many unique and distinctive items, and it’s fun just looking at the store’s exterior and interior. At “HELLO! 58” you can enjoy 100% Okinawan bitter melon juice and freshly squeezed bitter melon beer. Next to “HELLO! 58” was the Churaumi Aquarium’s antenna shop. I can’t go to the Churaumi Aquarium today, so I’d like to take a quick look. Finally, I tried this lottery. The results will be announced at the end of the video, so stay tuned! Opposite the Churaumi Aquarium’s antenna shop is the magnificent Okashi Goten. This restaurant is characterized by its vermilion building, which is modeled after Shuri Castle. When you enter the store, you will feel as if you have traveled back in time to the Ryukyu Dynasty. The store also has a candy factory attached, and you can see the production line through the glass. You can also enjoy freshly baked purple sweet potato tarts. At Gallery Cafe Yukura on the second floor, you can relax while admiring Okinawan pottery called “Yachimun.” “KID HOUSE” is a souvenir shop with multiple locations on Kokusai Street in Naha. We have a wide selection of tableware and glasses in beautiful colors and designs. “STEAK HOUSE 88” has been in business for over 40 years and is loved by a wide range of customers, from locals to tourists, for its consistent deliciousness and reasonable prices. This shop is loved by a wide range of customers, from locals to tourists. Kumako and her friends are planning to come over for dinner, so we’ll hurry on now! This is Fukugiya, a Baumkuchen specialty store that opened in Okinawa in 2011. We use a generous amount of ingredients grown in Okinawa’s rich natural environment, especially brown sugar, salt, honey, and eggs. This handmade baumkuchen, which is carefully baked in over 20 layers, is said to be gaining popularity as a “baumkuchen that brings happiness.” This handmade baumkuchen, which is carefully baked in over 20 layers, is said to be gaining popularity as a “baumkuchen that brings happiness.” Fukugiya also has a store next to Houkiboshi on the second floor of the departure lobby at Naha Airport, so you can purchase your tickets there as well. It is about a 750m walk from A&W. “Market Main Street” comes into view “Ichiba Hondori” is a shopping street that runs from Kokusai Street in Naha City to the First Makishi Public Market. There are many shops selling mochi and other sweets that are essential for events such as Obon and New Year’s. It was once known as “Candy Street.” If you go one block from Ichiba Hondori, you will come out onto Mutsumibashi-dori. Mutsumibashi Street, which runs parallel to Ichiba Hondori Street, retains a strong old-fashioned atmosphere and gives off a nostalgic feeling. Furthermore, Heiwa-dori, which runs parallel to Mutsumibashi-dori, retains a strong traditional atmosphere while also attracting new shops, making it a place full of diverse charm. Furthermore, Heiwa-dori, which runs parallel to Mutsumibashi-dori, retains a strong traditional atmosphere while also attracting new shops, making it a place full of diverse charm. It is loved by locals as well as tourists and is known as “Naha City’s kitchen.” We returned to “Market Main Street.” Now I would like to go to the Daiichi Makishi Public Market. We have arrived at Makishi Public Market. The “Daiichi Makishi Public Market” is a black market that spontaneously emerged near the “Kainan Bus Stop” shortly after the war. It all started in 1950 when they were all bundled together and organized as Makishi Public Market, run by the city of Naha. It will be reopened in March 2023. On the first floor, there are about 70 stores, including fishmongers, butchers, and fresh food stores. The second floor is a food court serving Okinawan cuisine. Choose seafood from the fresh fish area on the first floor and have it cooked in the restaurant on the second floor. It’s called the “lifting system” and is apparently popular. The fresh fish area is impressive and fun to just look at. We arrived at the second floor of the market. On the second floor, there are about 12 restaurants where you can enjoy Okinawan cuisine. Today is a weekday, so some stores are closed. All the restaurants looked delicious, but Kumako and her friends decided to eat at this restaurant. It’s “Machigwa Shokudo Dotonbori.” This is what I ordered! “Deep-fried Gurukun” “Gurukun” means “fusago” (hawksbill fish), and we eat it by gobbling it down from the head. Also included is “Fu Chanpuru”, “Island Yakisoba” and “Tempura platter of three kinds”. “Fuchanpuru” is a large, cylindrical Okinawan dish made by stir-frying gluten with vegetables. It’s healthy yet satisfying to eat. The chewy texture of “Shima Yakisoba” is irresistible. There are three types of tempura: bitter melon, pickled ginger, and mozuku seaweed. All the tempura is mild and easy to eat. Everything was delicious and filling. The price is reasonable and I recommend it. After enjoying the market, we returned to Kokusai Street. This is “Calbee + Okinawa” This “Sweet Poterico” seems to be popular, but I’m too full to eat it all. I decided to go to Shuri Castle to work up an appetite and then come back to Kokusai Street. After walking along Kokusai Street for 6 minutes, we arrived at Makishi Station. Take the Yui Rail from Makishi Station to Shuri Station. The current time is 3pm. On the Yui Rail platform, a nearby elementary school was practicing for the sports day. It was so beautiful that I couldn’t take my eyes off it. As expected, folk dances are performed at sports days. When Kumako was in elementary school… So I arrived at Shuri Station. It takes 15 minutes to walk from Shuri Station to Shureimon Gate. Since Kumako and her friends were limited in time, they took a taxi from the station. On this day, the temperature in Naha was 30 degrees, even though it was November. If the temperature is more than 10 degrees different from Tokyo, my body can’t keep up. I made an excuse and took a taxi for five minutes. I was dropped off near the Shuri Castle Park information center called “Suimuikan.” Shuri Castle is a beautiful castle that symbolizes Okinawa’s history and culture. During the Ryukyu Kingdom era, it was the center of politics, diplomacy, and culture. Shuri Castle was burned down during the Battle of Okinawa in 1945. The strong desire of the Okinawan people and their passion for preserving their culture came to fruition, and after many years of hard work, it was restored. It was destroyed again by fire in 2019, but efforts to restore it are currently underway. First, head to Koufukumon Gate to purchase a ticket to enter the paid area. The view from the castle walls in front of “Kofukumon” was amazing, so I spent some time looking at it. Once you pass through Koufukumon, you will come to an open space called Shicha Nuuna. “Shichanuunaa” is an Okinawan expression that means “the garden below.” At Shichanuunaa, there is a “Dragon Pillar “Dairyūchū” Repair Exhibition Room” where you can see the “Dragon Pillar “Dairyūchū”” that was located in front of Shuri Castle’s “Seiden”. The dragon pillar “Dairyūchū”, which miraculously remained standing after the fire, was removed from its base for repair work and has been on display here for about two years. The dragon pillar “Dairyūchū”, which miraculously remained standing after the fire, was removed from its base for repair work and has been on display here for about two years. Apparently it will be 4m tall when installed, so it’s a rare experience to be able to see it up close. Enter the paid area. The paid area goes around the restoration construction area. You can see the restoration work along the way and learn about the process. The former court lady’s quarters are now a museum shop stocking original Shurijo Castle Park goods and traditional crafts. The former court lady’s quarters are now a museum shop stocking original Shurijo Castle Park goods and traditional crafts. (Museum Shop Kyuyo) Onigawara roofing tiles with demon faces on display The roof tile with the face of an ogre, “onigawara,” has the face of a lion instead of an ogre. A total of six “Onigawara” figures were made, and four have already been installed, leaving the remaining two on display here. By the way, the installed “Onigawara” can be found here. We arrived at “Agari no Azana (Eastern Azana)”. “Agari no Azana” is a lookout tower built at the eastern end of the castle. Located at an altitude of about 140m, you can see the town outside the castle, the back of the Seiden Electric Railway inside the castle, and the entire Ouchibara area. At this time, thick clouds had appeared, but the view was still spectacular. Once the restoration work is complete, I would like to come back here and see Shuri Castle shining majestically against the blue horizon. There is a “Shureimon” Perhaps the correct route would have been to go to Seiden from here? Next time I come, I would like to go to “Seiden” from here. The current time is 5:30 PM. When I went to Shuri Castle, I took a taxi from Shuri Station. On the way back, we walked to Gibo Station. It started to rain on the way on second thoughts… (Rainmaker?) I returned to Kokusai Street. By the time we arrived at Kokusai Street, the rain had stopped. Kumako and her friends headed to “STEAK HOUSE 88,” which they had passed by during the day. We arrived around 6pm and there was already a line of customers outside the store. I wrote my name on the waiting board and waited for 30 minutes. Finally, we were shown to our seats. Kumako ordered a combo of “100g of premium tenderloin steak and 150g of 88 special lean meat steak” for 4,980 yen. Kumako ordered a combo of “100g of premium tenderloin steak and 150g of 88 special lean meat steak” for 4,980 yen. All steaks come with soup bar, salad bar and rice. Kumao also ordered the same thing. Now let’s go check out the bar area while we wait for our steaks to be ready. Fruit punch, onion, and vermicelli salad Seaweed, corn and pasta salad Broccoli, mozuku seaweed, potato salad, cabbage Bacon soup Original Mushroom Soup If you order steak, you can add all-you-can-eat Okinawan ice cream brand “Blue Seal” for an additional 660 yen. I wanted to add Kumako as well, but I wasn’t sure if I could eat that much, so I decided not to this time. I wanted to add Kumako as well, but I wasn’t sure if I could eat that much, so I decided not to this time. But it looks delicious When I returned with the salad and soup, the steak was brought out. The delivery time is very fast. The delicious smell and the sound of delicious meat being grilled fill the air. I wasn’t that hungry when the food arrived. When I put on the paper apron and saw the steak in front of me, my appetite suddenly increased. First, I had the original mushroom soup, which was of higher quality than I expected. The service is so good that you can have as many refills as you like. The steak is lean yet tender and juicy! There was a total of 250g, but I could have eaten more. The seat next to Kumako was a group of high school students on a school trip, and one of them ordered two steak dishes! The seat next to Kumako was a group of high school students on a school trip, and one of them ordered two steak dishes! High school students these days are rich. I hope we become friends and he treats me. (An old lady leeching off a high school student) Steak 88 is also located on the 3rd floor of the Naha Airport Inter-City Terminal. The store is small, so you’ll likely have to wait in line. There are also several stores on Kokusai Street. Please note that the salad bar and soup bar are only available at the Kokusai Street West Exit store. So I finished my meal and left the restaurant. Take a taxi from in front of the steak restaurant to Naha Airport. The current time is 8pm. We have arrived at the ANA airline lounge at Naha Airport. It took 15 minutes by taxi from Kokusai Street to Naha Airport, costing about 1,700 yen. When I explored the buffet in the ANA lounge, I was surprised to find something amazing! There’s Blue Seal ice cream! Since I was there, I had some yuzu sorbet and red sweet potato ice cream. It was very very very delicious. The flight departs at 9pm. I spent too much time relaxing in the lounge, so I hurried to the boarding gate. In fact, Kumako had purchased a dessert when she arrived at Naha Airport. Here it is! “Okashi Goten”‘s “Purple Sweet Potato Fresh Tart” It’s creamier than the standard one! As it is a fresh tart, it is so soft and creamy that it may fall apart if you are not careful when eating it. It was very very very very delicious. I wish I had bought more and more The current time is 11:15 PM We have arrived at Haneda Airport. I ate very well all day today. I’m afraid of putting on weight, but I walked 30,000 steps, so maybe I’ve lost weight. (I was gaining weight properly) We introduced “Naha, where you can enjoy Okinawan cuisine on a day trip from Tokyo.” Did you enjoy it? Next time I go to Okinawa, I’ll see more of the beautiful ocean. The result of this lottery was a whopping 5th prize! Yes, it was a participation prize! I saw many students on a school trip who had won the first prize in a lottery: a large stuffed toy. I thought Kumako might win first place in the lottery, but it wasn’t that easy. Still, I’m happy that I was able to get a small whale shark stuffed animal. See you next time.
