Hi everyone! I’m Naru! Today we’ve come to Hakuba Village in Nagano Prefecture, where you can enjoy world-class powder snow! Hakuba Village is located in the northwestern part of Nagano Prefecture! It’s surrounded by the majestic mountains of the Northern Alps In this region, the cold seasonal winds from Siberia pick up moisture as they cross the Sea of Japan When they hit the high mountains of the Northern Alps This creates an updraft! This updraft causes heavy snowfall making it one of the world’s heaviest snowfall regions! Taking advantage of the excellent snow quality, Hakuba Village has ski resorts suitable for everyone from beginners to advanced skiers and families Today we’re visiting Hakuba Iwatake Snow Field, the only independent peak in the Hakuba area At an elevation of 1,289 meters, it offers a 360-degree panoramic view with diverse courses that take advantage of the natural terrain The summit terrace “HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR” offers year-round views from 1,289 meters of the Northern Alps panorama We’ll also visit scenic spots like Hakuba Bridge, Oide Park, and Lake Aoki to enjoy the Northern Alps views! Tokyo Station → Hakuba Station: 2 hours 45 minutes Nagoya Station → Hakuba Station: 3 hours 30 minutes Nagano IC → Hakuba Station: 1 hour Azumino IC → Hakuba Station: 1 hour 10 minutes Itoigawa IC → Hakuba Station: 1 hour For getting around Hakuba Village, during the 2024-2025 season many shuttle buses will be operating! They’re convenient for accessing ski resorts and tourist spots! We’ve arrived in Hakuba! And today, for the first time in years, I’m going to enjoy snowboarding!! Since it’s been so long, I’m worried if I can still do it well (laughs) I heard there’s a lot of snow this year, so I thought I’d like to try it after such a long time! Hakuba Iwatake Snow Field This gondola has been newly renovated♪ Q: How much did the gondola cost to build? A: About 2.1 billion yen!!!! It’s been newly built after 38 years! The glass panels are so large! It’s spacious and the ceiling is high There’s hardly any swaying, it’s very stable! It says it can fit 10 people! Even when it’s crowded, everyone can go up together at once! I’m excited to see what the snow conditions are like♪ Let’s do our best!! The weather is perfect!! Still a bit shaky (laughs) I had such a fun time snowboarding! As for the snow, While some parts were fluffy, The shaded areas were frozen and crunchy, Not really crunchy but rather icy, That balance was really fun♪ A mix of fluffy and icy conditions! This course is long enough to really enjoy Even in just one run I think I’m starting to remember how it feels from before I want to keep riding more and more Let’s take a break at the café! But I think the café will be crowded! The view is incredible!! What an amazing view! You can clearly see the Hakuba mountains! It’s amazing we can get up here so easily That’s really fantastic!! How long does the gondola take? 📍About 8 minutes by gondola And this view is just incredible!! This Mountain Harbor Opened in 2018! So that means? That means now? It’s been 7 years!? You’re quick with calculations! (laughs) I’m not quite sure… It’s been 7 years now! I’m definitely being teased too much… (laughs) Please keep teasing me more! ☺️ At HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR, There’s a popular New York bakery You can enjoy fresh bread and coffee! Everything looks so delicious!! The biscuits and scones look amazing!! They look cute too!! This croissant Ah! So cute!! It’s like a ribbon! You don’t often see croissant sandwiches, right? It has Hakuba pork inside! *Crunch!* So crispy!! It’s super crispy! Well, it is a croissant!! It’s even crispier than I expected, and You don’t see many sandwiches using croissants, right? There’s surprisingly a lot of pork in it! It’s delicious!! Is that mustard? It’s so delicious!! I thought it might be a bit expensive at first, but With this quality, it’s totally worth it!! At Mountain Harbor, There are quite a few people who aren’t skiing! At a winter ski resort, You wouldn’t expect non-skiers to come! It’s brilliantly designed! The concept of being enjoyable even without skiing is amazing!! Whoever thought of this is a genius!! That’s right! There are foreign visitors too! Lots of them! There are more Japanese people than I expected! I thought there wouldn’t be any Japanese people But about 40% are Japanese! That was fun! After such a long time I’m definitely going to be sore tomorrow! (laughs) Not just my legs, but my arms will probably be sore too! Let’s head to our next destination!! A second branch of a traditional restaurant established in the 1970s has opened in Hakuba With drink and salad bars in the spacious interior, you can leisurely enjoy their traditional steaks It’s so thick and You can hear it sizzling It looks incredibly delicious!! You ordered the healthier option, right? I got the filet! It’s 180g of filet! Wow!! The steam is incredible Oh my, oh my, oh my It smells amazing!! Mmm!! Is it tender? It’s so incredibly tender!! Incredibly tender!! I’ve never had steak like this! It’s as tender as a hamburger! So good!! The meat flavor is amazing too♪ It really hits the spot! This is exactly what you need after skiing!! Goes perfectly with rice! It’s really delicious and satisfying! It’s thick but tender? The thickness is like mentaiko! (laughs) It is like mentaiko!! Like mentaiko, it’s thick and soft Is it that soft? It’s like the meat version of mentaiko! The Young Man Rib Steak is delicious too♪ Compared to what I’m eating, it’s thinner but The flavor is really good! You mean it’s thinner in thickness? Yes, it’s thinner but You can really taste the meat’s flavor and The seasoning is delicious too♪ On top of my steak, There was butter, and Eating it together with the butter Is incredibly delicious! You’d think it would be rich, right? Because of the butter But it’s not~! Mysteriously, it makes it lighter! The butter makes it taste lighter It somehow makes it lighter!! Maybe it’s high-quality butter? The meat was delicious! It feels like it’s been a while since I’ve had a big cut of meat! You don’t see this much, right? Shall we have dessert next? I want something refreshing, so Let’s have something sweet And feel refreshed♪ That looks like You know, at Tateyama A mini version of the Snow Corridor! Though quite mini… (laughs) The scenery is so beautiful~! Isn’t the view amazing? The snow is so fluffy! Mount Hakuba, Mount Shakushi, and Mount Hakuba Yarigatake Are all so clearly visible!! The river flowing below is beautiful too~! In the store with colorful breads and cakes on display, Your heart leaps with the joy of choosing and the happiness of indecision In the attached café space, You can leisurely enjoy the breads and cakes right there Isn’t the café atmosphere super cute? There are big windows and You can see the scenery outside and Everything is cute!! All the chairs and tables Are made of wood! It’s like being in a fairy tale world♪ Delicious!! You’re supposed to melt this marshmallow in the drink, right? So, can I say goodbye to it now? The marshmallow is surprisingly resistant! (laughs) Poor thing… It got a bit sweeter with this! It’s still not quite sweet enough! (laughs) Need to dunk it a bit more Delicious♪ Shall we try the donut? The donut is quite big too! Yes! Delicious!! It has a chewy texture! Delicious!! Like a Pon de Ring? It’s not that chewy It has a good bite to it! Not greasy at all! I thought it might be greasy since it’s a donut, but Not at all!! Just the right amount of sweetness! Delicious!! The cinnamon flavor is perfect, it’s so delicious There was an adorable shop dog♪ There’s so much snow here too! Well, at least to the park There’s a path made, so we should be able to go! We’re heading to the Oide Park observation deck! Wow~!! So beautiful! Amazing!! So incredibly beautiful!! This whiteness is wonderful!! This place is really amazing! Last time it was around spring, but Winter is great too! It wasn’t spring! (laughs) When was it last time? It was autumn! (laughs) Was it autumn? Huh? The leaves were changing colors!! It’s really huge! As expected! This place is on another level! Even from the ski resort, Mount Hakuba was impressive! Mount Hakuba! It’s impressive from here too! The bridge is really nice! The river and bridge! I heard cherry blossoms bloom here in spring The cherry blossom season would be lovely too! “ao LAKESIDE CAFE” situated by Lake Aoki Not only can you enjoy stylish dishes at the café, but there’s also a sauna with scenic views You can see Lake Aoki, it’s such a stylish café♪ These large windows are really nice~! Lake Aoki doesn’t freeze over! It’s not frozen! That’s right Do you know how Lake Aoki ranks in size among Nagano Prefecture’s lakes? Maybe 5th? I don’t know either! It’s the third largest in Nagano Prefecture♪ You can see the Hakuba mountains too! Is that Mount Hakuba? We don’t know anything! (laughs) Could it be Mount Goryu? We can see a bit of Mount Korenge♪ With lots of whipped cream, it looks super delicious!! Delicious!! Not too sweet and delicious! The whipped cream isn’t too sweet, it’s delicious!!
