CULTURE SHOCK ! On Our First Day Exploring Chongqing CHINA 🇨🇳

Welcome to China. Come and spend 24 hours with
us as we explore this 8D city full of modern skyscrapers, old school alleyways, and food. A
lot of food. So get ready as we are taking you along on a wild ride exploring Chongqing. So there
is no better way to explore new city rather than from the top. So what we going to do today? It’s a
unique way. Yeah, sorry. It’s a unique way to see the city from the river. So, we are going on this
here. You can see behind us. And how much was the ticket? That was 30 yan each, which is that much.
That much. This cable car started operating in 1984. And this actually goes around 6 m. Hey,
when I was born. Yeah, this is You’re telling people how old you are now. Oh, doesn’t matter.
So, yeah, this travels about I think it’s 6 m per   minute. The whole trip is around 5 minutes, but
it looks super old. You ready for this, Dicky? Cuz you’re scared of the heights. I know you are. I’m
ready for this. I am completely ready. But yeah, this is going to be the best way to see the city,
to see how big it is. Yeah, let’s go. Right. So, as you can see behind me, the queue is
quite big. It’s around 10:00 in the morning,   but I saw some advice online to come to the south
station because the north one is even busier than this. So, top tip, get a taxi to the south
one. Hopefully, it’s not quite as busy as this, but the other side is meant to be super super
busy. So, South Station. Another tip for you. You do need passport to buy a ticket or picture
of the passport. Look at this view. And we haven’t got Oh, wow. Looks pretty full. It looks pretty
full. We’re going. We’re going. Somebody’s scared of heights. You seem quite excited. I like cable
cars. I don’t know why. Oh no. We need to be by the Oh, here here here. Yeah, yeah. Let me
get the door. This is moving. It’s wobbly. Whoa. Oh my god. This is going pretty fast.
Yeah, it’s like I think it’s Oh. meters every second. Okay. This is definitely
the biggest cable car I ever been on. It’s really smooth. Even though it’s old. Yeah,
it’s good. So, it’s old when you were born. This is pretty cool, right?
Smart. Well worth it. Oh,   we’re nearly there. Made it. Safe and
sound. It’s pretty busy inside. Well, this was pretty cool. I love that you’ve got
so many like modern skyscrapers and really old skyscrapers. A bit of the old town as well.
It’s really really cool views. There is so like um mismatch in Chongqing, right? Modern new. This
was great, but we are hungry. Let’s get some food. Look at the size of these oranges. That’s
a fruit we never seen before. Yeah. Let us   know what that purple red one is. I’ve never
seen that before. Or how you eat it. That’s a strange fruit. Right. Let’s find our way
where we’re going. I don’t have a clue. So, we just made it to Shibati. Danny, can
you tell us what is Shibati? Right. So, let me explain what Shibati is. Basically,
Chibati directly translates into 18 steps. So, this area basically used to be the main
connection between the upper city and the   lower city of Chongqing. But I think back in
2015, a lot of this was kind of destroyed or broken down. But over the past few years, they
actually renovated this. You’ll see a big mix of like old and new. And there’s just many little
tiny streets, lots of street food, and yeah, it’s a busy little touristy place. We have to
come and see it for the mix of old and new. What   are you eating now? What are you eating? People
keep giving me tasters. Everything is so good. Look at that. Like sweet peanut. And
look shrimpy. That one is shrimpy, actually. Yeah. So, you can walk all the way
down through this. There’s loads of alleys. So,   we’re here. You can walk down through the main
street. So, you keep going backwards and forwards. You can see my eyes. I’m super tired. I’ve got
baggy eyes cuz we arrived really late yesterday. Also going to recommend you our hotel where
we stay. It’s super affordable. The station is amazing. quality, the standard of the hotel.
Outstanding, super clean, and very affordable. That’s what I wanted to say. Take a look at
this. Yeah. So, basically what we got here,   we got loads of old buildings. Then we have some
new skyscrapers as well. And then we have some street food. Let’s just walk and then you can see
what we can see and we can explore together. So, we’re going to show you some snacks as well. This
is some kind of herbo drink, I think. Wow, look at that. Everything is really nicely presented here.
How does it smell? Smells nice. Yeah. Sweet and like herbs. So, yeah. Nice refreshing drink. It
looks like This looks nice and refreshing. I’m a bit cold for that now. We didn’t tell you guys,
but it’s meant to be like 19° today, but it’s   quite chilly. I haven’t worn jeans. I haven’t
worn a jacket for about 3 years. Show them your outfit. Check him out. When was the last time you
saw Danny wearing clothes like that? about three and a half years ago. So, there is like loads of
street. There’s one street going over there. Look, it’s like loads of little buildings, little
alleyways. You don’t know where to go. As you   can see, some of this has been renovated. There
are actually some old ruins which they’ve knocked down previously. But a lot of this has been
refurbished, renewed, repurposed, but it still has all the old cobbled streets and the old style as
well. So, it’s really nice. Nice mix of two. Bye. Let’s run. It’s quite cool cuz you can walk
around and you can still find like quiet uh spaces to take pictures or just to escape the
crowds because it’s a little bit busy here. I was just saying to Diggy that I think a lot of people
come here in the evening when it’s all lit up cuz   it’s going to look a lot more beautiful than
all lit up the lanterns. Well, this is busy but I realized the oranges are very popular here. We
will have to definitely try some fresh oranges. They huge as well. I think they’re in season
at the minute. They must be. There’s some food   here. Toast. You want toast? You want a toast? No
idea what that is. What’s inside it? Because look, there’s like a batter one. Yeah. Go and try
one. Well, we’re not sure actually what it is, but it’s like um it looks like a toasty, but it’s
made out of butter. And then you’ve got like a waffle waffle pan over there. I think I paid.
Don’t worry about it, mate. Don’t worry about it. I don’t know what’s inside. Nothing at the minute. What are you doing? It’s not It’s not bad. What is it? I think it’s like pounded rice and
then toasted cuz the inside is quite glutenous,   isn’t it? So, sticky little bit sour and maybe
sour, slightly fermented, maybe. I’m not sure about that. Not a great first choice. Let’s get
some proper food. So, I think we came to the end now. Danny, I see something super interesting.
I have no idea what is that in the middle there, but it looks like a massive drink dispenser,
right? Yeah. And loads of caps and looks like a bar. Yeah. Well, I’m not going to drink anything
yet because we didn’t eat anything. But yeah, it’s a bar. What? This? Yeah. This is my And you
ser yourself in a car? Yeah. Yeah. I think you pay and do everything yourself and just take a seat.
I think Ali pays here and you just grab your cup, pour them here. Pretty cool, right? They
have like soju like fruity drinks as well,   not only beer like this one, blueberry drink. So
online it says you can spend 3 hours here if you want to just like, you know, lounge, drink coffee,
chill somewhere and take a lot of pictures, photos. Yeah, maybe. But uh yeah, we’ve done
it here maybe 30 minutes, walk around. Yeah, I did read somewhere online, a bit of research.
Apparently, Chongqing is like the only city in   China, main center city, where you can actually
ride a motorbike. I think it’s because they have all these big hills, and it’s much easier back in
the day to have a motorbike than it is a car. Let   us know if that’s correct or not down below. As
we are two very As we are two very hungry people, we are here in a food street and we’re going to
try a lot of hopefully delicious Chinese food. It’s going to be our first proper experience
trying and showing you a lot of food. Uh in Chongqen, the Chongqin food is famous for its
spice. Yeah. Sashu and pepper. Yes. So yeah, let’s go and explore. I think we should
go in there. Right. So this place looks   like there’s going to be a lot of a
lot of food there. A lot of choices. So yeah, let’s go in and let’s try some Oh,
it’s just like I don’t know where to look, right? Because there’s so much food we haven’t
seen before. There’s like one entrance,   like a little food court inside, but it’s
still like quite open. There’s no doors at the front. It just opens like all the way up.
It’s nice and warm here, that’s for sure. So,   let’s go try downstairs. Oh,
wow. There’s no Oh my Oh wow. Okay, this is why it’s called food street.
This is just senses overload. Senses overload. I don’t know where to look. It’s loud. It’s
vibrant. I honestly I’m lost. Roasted brain. Wow. Don’t know where to go. Help. Okay, so
we have found something we never seen before. It’s like a rose with roasted duck inside.
Should we take uh 413? That looks absolutely amazing. You see what I do is I take a picture
of it and I can just show them because I don’t speak Chinese. But this looks absolutely
delicious. This looks a little bit like a pecking duck pancakes. We need to find space where
to eat it now. Let’s find some table. Right. So, you need some you need the gloves for this
because they super oily on the outside. Let’s go. This is so good. These are exactly like
packing duck pancakes like what we used to get in a box expenses. No, Max expenses in a, you know, in a takeaway back home.
Amazing. That that is delicious. Oh wow. Good. Yeah. The sauce inside is
delicious as well. Roast it up. These pancakes are like a pancake or batter.
It’s a bit thicker than I’m used to,   but delicious. So good. I love dining food.
There you so much food here. This is a selection of Diggy’s favorite. This is chicken’s feet.
You Annie, what you got here? I’m going for potatoes. I’ve been holding out for a while.
I’m doing it. Look, they they have the whole   ones over there on the left. Oh, yeah. They
do. But they smash these or they just No, they would be in the hole. Ah, I can see it here.
Yeah. Hello. What do you say? That’s a not so cute. There’s literally tasters of
everything everywhere. All right,   we’re getting potatoes. That’s what I want. So,
do you have bin? Oh, this is heavy. There’s a lot of potato here. I really want to try these
stuffed chicken wings. Look how good they look. These are stuffed chicken wings. This is so
overwhelming. Honestly, wa look at the mro. It’s so loud here. This is like
covered. It’s like mro, but Oh,   they have like potato rusty. So much food.
We can’t eat all this. What is going on? Get outside. Go, go, go. I
need to leave. Oh, wow. Rabbit. It’s a bit quieter. Okay. Thank you. Right. We
had to go stop. We had to get out and try this cuz once you probably wouldn’t hear us and
even with the mic it’s so loud over there,   isn’t it? It’s super loud. Like really well.
Ticky said overwhelming cuz it’s so noisy. Smells already covered in chili oil. Hopefully
it’s not too spicy. My favorite potatoes. Oh. M. Yeah. Mhm. They look good. Are they not
too spicy? No, it’s like um Oh, maybe. Oh, yeah. Now it’s a little bit. Oh, they’re so
good. They’re cold though, by the way. But   really nice. Mhm. It’s like a dried sichuan chili
and pepper. Oh, that’s not too spicy. It’s like a mild spice. Thing is with this kind of spice,
it creeps up on you and after like 5 minutes, your mouth is like numb. But so get jiggy.
Try. Oh yeah, it is cold. It’s a shame. It would be nice if it would be warm. Oh yeah. This
is really good. Really good. It would be so much better if it would be warmer, though. Oh, yum.
There was It’s really, really salty as well. This is super good. And potatoes are super soft.
They just like literally disappear in your mouth. And that was I think only 8 y for that whole
bowl. 80 y is 40 bar. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, we convert everything to B because that’s
that’s the currency we used to one more. No, one more. One more. Right, let’s go back for more. Let’s go into
the madness. Ready? Let’s go. I’m just going to walk you through and you can see how mad is
inside. Let’s go in. Got some great tasters. There’s a man making some. Yeah, it’s like some sweets made out of beef,
bro. It’s crazy here. Oh, look at all this seafood again. Everything in it, chili, oil,
incu. It looks all very nice and fresh, though. What is that? It’s like a jerky. Oh, peppery.
Super sweet. I think it’s cool. They make everything fresh. Rabbit. This is rabbit. Follow the crowd. Oh, daddy. This looks
good. Look. Oh, yeah. Should we have that? Yeah. Deep fried dough. But basically what it is
is like a dough which is filled with h pork or beef and onions, spring onions, and then it’s deep
fried in oil. You got one already? I got it. Let’s try here. But maybe let’s walk away from the lady
shouting on the speaker. Yeah. Let’s go somewhere where it’s a little bit quieter. Maybe here. Want
to have a look at it? Yeah. Oh, wow. It’s huge. M. Good. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. So, you can see
the meat inside. It’s deep fried dough. Is it like a donut or? Yeah, the bread or the
dough is more like a donut consistency, but the meat inside is so good. It’s not
peppery. It’s nice flavor. It’s like onion, jam. Oh, sh. Wow. I just got a
massive taster here. What is it? That’s pork. Oh, it’s so good. That’s delicious. You buy one
thing and then they’re just   chopping other things in your hands. It’s crazy. This is mad. And this is only one floor. But
there is quieter areas too. Like here you’ve got loads of um sitting restaurants. When I like
looked this up, I thought food street was actually going to be like a street of food, but I didn’t
expect like to be a massive building full of food,   but there’s some stuff outside as well.
But yeah, really good. I enjoyed it. So, we don’t really have a big plan today. We
only in Chongqing for 2 days and then we’re moving to Changdu. Uh this is just basically
a quick stopover before Changdo. But this city is absolutely crazy. It’s overwhelming. Uh
like I said, we don’t have a plan today. So, we’re just winging it. Let’s go here. Let’s go
there. We have a few points of interest and we   just hit them and you’ll see when we see it. We
don’t know anything about this city. So, we just go and explore and see what we can do. And look
around and try not to jump over. Yeah. Careful. Look at those little cars. Those free free
wheels. Freewheelers. How do you say it? Doesn’t look like they should be running.
They look really old. Just be aware there’s   a lot of hills in Chongqin. So now we need
to relax after walking all day. And we are heading towards a area called 9inth Street which
meant to be full of like a cafes and bars. And I think it’s good for night life. Grab a seat
and sit down for a bit. You haven’t sat down   yet. It looks quite cool here. Loads of trendy
little places. Yeah. What’s that? Chestnuts. No, chestnuts. Chestnuts. Oh. Oh, look at
that. That looks cool. Wonder. Yeah, let’s wander around. Where is the main main area
then? Keep going down road. Oh, let’s check this place out. You literally don’t know where you’re
going to end up. There’s loads of hills. Loads of like really cool views as well. Now, we’re
just walking through some random market. Danny, I think your fans are here. Oh, wow. Do
you make these? Yes, please. Oh, amazing. It’s so cool. Are they voodoo dolls? Danny. Yay.   Danny’s here. Mind the man with
the street food card. Oh, wow. I’ve learned already being here just for a half
day. I’ve learned already very important word which means funny one as well. Bolo bolo that
means fool that you are fool. So everyone’s laughing now when I say bolo bolo. I am bolo bolo.
It’s such a cute word though isn’t it? Bolo bolo. Just went past some guy yesterday for soup and he
said that for he goes bolo bolo bolo bolo. like,   “Okay, I’m disappointed, man. I’m missing
my beers.” We came to 9th Street and didn’t realize that everything’s open like late. We just
checked on like the local maps. Everything opens   like 9:30, 10:30, 7 700 p.m. Yeah, we’re
going to have to make a move. And I think Diggy’s found somewhere else. He might go for a
quick drink. Yes. Let’s go. Taxi. All right. So, we ordered taxi on application called Diddi.
Nihow. Okay. We are in. So you have to say last four digits of your phone number, right? Yeah.
Don’t show my number. So yeah, this is a 20-minute drive and it’s only 18 yuan for this drive. So
it’s really reasonable the taxis here. Yes. One thing I have to mention to you, without our uh
eim UBG, we would be lost. If you want to get eim, if you need the eim, make sure you follow the
link in description because um we’ve got a little discount there for you. You can’t live without
it in China. You cannot live without it in China.   You’ll be lost. Oh dear. We really really need
to sit down somewhere. We didn’t really done that much of exploring today, but we are very
tired because we had late night yesterday. So, we are here now on Nanbin uh road. There’s a
lot of going on here. There is loads of bars, restaurant, but we’re going to just sit down
and chill and then we’re going to take you out again to explore. Right. Oh, it’s a ring toss. You
chuck a ring to try and get them. Yeah. So, yeah, there’s cigarettes. What? You can win cigarettes.
Yes. So, yeah, we just by the river here, right? Let’s go and chill. Danny, where are we
going now? Let’s go down here. So, we go right   down to the water’s edge. It looks like there’s
cafes and restaurants and bars along here. So, let’s go and have a look. I’m literally I am
literally just keep telling him, “Let’s go for beer. Let’s go for beer. Let’s go for beer. Let’s
go for beer. Let’s go for beer.” Yeah, let’s go   for beer. Let’s go. Just want to sit down, man.
Take it all in. Relax. We’ve been so busy for the last week leaving Thailand. You have no idea if
you’re watching this for the first time. Me and Danny, we live in Thailand uh since what, three
years? For three years. Uh just after 3 years, right? Just over 3 years. Yeah. And basically
Danny has been working there full-time. He’s taking one year of work and we’re going traveling
around Asia, Europe, US maybe, maybe a I don’t know. US, Australia, I don’t know. They’re very
expensive, so who knows? But let’s walk. Um, yeah, basically we have no plan. We just see where we’re
going to go. So, we just came to the bar area. Looks cool. Looks cool. Yeah. When this is the
night, it’s going to be nice, right? So when Oh, they got comfy seats as well. Okay, let’s find a
seat. This looks pretty pretty cool. All right, so we just wanted like a local beer, but they
don’t have a local beer. We’re going to have   a look. Danny, check out the Christmas tree.
That looks weird. There’s some balloons. Grab a seat. So, we’re just sitting down here. Look,
there local lunch. Wow. I could eat that. Right, let’s sit here. No, 28 yuan, which is how
much B? 120 B. 120 B. But the view location, it’s nice and quiet here. Comfy seat. I am not
complaining at all. So, one more thing also, you can see behind me, there’s another name that
this city is actually called. It’s actually called   the city of fog. Cuz you can see all this is not
smog, it’s fog. So because where it’s built up in the mountains, you get this effect most of the
year around where you get this constant fog all around like this. So little fact for you guys.
Same same. I need a picture of this one. Chung beer. So we changed the spot now. We found some
local beer finally. Right. How much is this? Finally. They just said to me when they said, “Oh,
Chinese beer.” They went chuborg. And this one, Chuborg, is not Chinese beer, is it? Maybe it’s
just popular in China. This one was uh 30 yuan a bottle. Yeah. So, I think uh the other one was
2830. I think this is just this is just like a standard price here. So, let’s try some of the
chunk. Can you open mine as well? Cheers. Cheers. Oh, I like it. It’s more hoppy. Not bad,
actually. That’s so much better than Kasburg. I think most things are better than Carsburg. Maybe
unpopular opinion. I haven’t tried that one. I say No, they’re not. No, they’re not. This one’s
more refreshing. This one has more flavor. This is more hoppy. This is less hoppy.
They taste different, don’t they? Just drink it all. Yeah. No, I think they’re the same. Same same.
Same same but different. Cheers. Cheers. You want a glass or no? No. The Chinese people are so nice,
aren’t they? Basically, I don’t have a power bank at the moment. And because I have a Thai number,
I can’t use this application. You see these   everywhere. But the lady at the restaurant, the
owner said, “Oh, I’ll get it for you.” It’s like 2 yuan for 30 minutes charging. So, yeah. Thank
you. So nice. Yeah. Yeah. They’re going to run out of battery. You need your phone for everything.
For payments, for basic navigation, for maps, for taxis. So, I need to buy a power bank soon. Yeah.
Chinese people are so so nice to us, aren’t they? need to charge us. But literally they help us with
everything. Like if they if they see you lost, right? They say if you come around and say, “Oh,
you okay? Do you need help?” Or Yeah. It’s going to sound a bit weird, but I’m I am very very
surprised how lovely and accommodating they are. Right. Very welcoming. No. Very. And and and
they like Diggy’s hair. I don’t know why. I think it’s just because I’m maybe just one blonde person
in in the city. You stand out a bit. There’s not so many tourism here at the moment. We are here in
low season. So from basically November to January is basically known as the low season here. So
you might get some deals if you want to travel   this time. But the only thing is it’ll be a little
bit colder. It is cold. It’s getting really cold, freezing. I’ve got like um Kashmir top here and
then um cardigan as well. So I am keeping warm. But I know that tonight it’s going to be freezing.
We’re here at the beginning of November, so it’s still not cold cold yet. But we are prepared
because we are going to call the country soon. Yes. Make sure you click uh notifications and you
can see where we’re going. So, we just enjoyed a few beers. Uh just looking at the view. Everything
lit up absolutely beautiful uh after the sun gone down. But I think now it’s time to go home because
we’re getting cold. So, how did you enjoy your first 24 hours in China? China so far is proving
really, really good. I see all the stuff online, but no, in real it’s so good. Everything’s so
big, so massive. The food so far is amazing. So good. And even transport, getting around,
things to do. So easy, so simple, and yeah, I love it. So easy, so simple, as long you have
everything you need set up before you come here. But that’s going to be in another video. We’re
gonna do all the tips and everything you have   to know before coming to China. So yeah, guys,
thanks for watching and don’t forget to hit that notification button, subscribe, and we’re going to
see you next one. The next video, we’re going to uh go and explore ancient town just outside
