【冬旅総編集】富山・岐阜・長野へ!家族で楽しむ車中泊旅!温泉×雪景色×グルメ×アウトドア
We are a family traveling in a camper-style HiAce van. This video is about our year-end trip. It’s our final trip of 2024. And… Happy New Year 2025! We hope you continue to follow Van Trip Family this year. Let’s go on many trips again this year. Please enjoy the video until the end. There’s the escalator. Yes, that one. Wow, it’s nice. It’s so easy. We don’t even need to exit the highway to get here. Yeah, it really helps a lot. Yeah. It’s right here. It’s cold. The business hours… From 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Do you think we can still get in? Last entry is at 8:30 p.m. Can we make it? Let’s try going in. Yeah. Looks like we’re good. On weekdays they close at 9 p.m., and on weekends at 10 p.m. So on weekends, last entry is probably around 9:30, right? Ah, that makes sense. Yeah. Good thing it’s the weekend. Yeah, lucky. If it were a weekday, we’d have been too late. We wouldn’t have been able to get in. Seriously. Hirao Onsen Miharu-no-Yu Isn’t this amazing? It’s incredible. Kinda scary. It makes you dizzy. Yeah. Alright, we’re heading out again. Yeah. It’s 221 km to our destination. Okay, here we go. Let’s go. After we passed Shinshū-Nakano, the road started looking like this. Feels like real snow now. Yeah, exactly. It’s kind of lightly snowing too, I think. It’s falling a bit. Hard to see, though. Nice. We’ve entered the snow country. It’s starting. Yeah, it is. We should be careful. Some spots might be icy. The temperature is exactly zero degrees now. Zero? Zero. Today is the peak of the cold wave, but it should calm down a bit starting tomorrow. We’ve entered Niigata Prefecture. Myoko Kogen, Niigata. The road is getting a bit narrower. Yeah, the width is shrinking. We’re at Myoko’s parking area now? Yeah. Look at all the snow. Wow. Let’s go to the restroom. Good morning. We’re now at “Michi-no-Eki Unazuki” here in Toyama Prefecture. We arrived around one o’clock last night, right? Yeah. There isn’t much snow. A lot less than we expected. But… It’s about 6.4°C outside now. Ah, outside. Inside the van it’s exactly 24°C. Yeah, 24. The FF heater is amazing. It really is. We’ll get ready now and head to a place called Unazuki Onsen. Yeah, let’s get ready. Let’s get ready. Ventilating. The air is cold. Yeah, it’s chilly. There’s snow on the mountains. Yeah, a little bit. We’re going to walk around the roadside station and buy breakfast. The parking lot is fairly flat. Michi-no-Eki Unazuki (Unazuki Shokusai-kan) Roadside station stamp. One more. Looks good. The kids are excited, playing in the snow. Let’s eat. This is our breakfast. This is Kuro-mame-kun. We bought it at the roadside station. And this one is Kin-toki-kun. Looks good. Yeah, Kintoki. Oh, Kintoki-kun. Let’s eat. Yeah, let’s dig in. Ah, wait a second. Delicious. Bon appétit. Unazuki Beer. It’s “Kurobe no Tsuki” Lager. Alright, we’re on the move. Is that the red bridge over there? Ah, we should check it out. It’s right there, visible. Let’s take a little detour. Okay. Here’s the bridge. There’s a torii gate there. Wow, amazing. Oh, the river. Isn’t this the Kurobe River? Yeah. There’s more on this side too. We’ll make a U-turn and head back. Unazuki Onsen, 6.5 km. The water is so clear. Really beautiful. Yeah, it’s sparkling. Looks great. We’ve arrived. This is Unazuki Station of the Kurobe Gorge Railway. I think this is called the Unazuki Station front parking lot? Yeah, yeah. It’s free, so we parked here. Now we’ll take a walk around the station area. Alright. Kurobe River Electric Memorial Museum Admission is free. Open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. No videos allowed inside. Foot bath. The station’s foot bath. Kuronagi. It’s a bit hot. Hot? Yeah, hot. Unazuki Onsen is a hot spring in Kurobe City, Toyama Prefecture. It’s also the base for the sightseeing trolley. It’s rare nationwide—it uses a 7 km hot water pipe system. Ah, so this isn’t a natural hot spring here? Seems like it’s piped in. But 7 km is impressive. Really is. I just touched the foot bath water—it’s really warm and nice. Yeah, it’s hot. Around 60°C? (It’s 40°C.) Ah, okay. It felt really hot. That’s a trolley bench. Taking pictures. This must be the observation deck. A uniquely shaped deck with a full view of the Kurobe River. This is Yumedokoro Unazuki, a place for day-use hot spring bathing. I wonder if the tourist information center is inside too? Yeah, probably. It opens at 10 a.m., reception starts at 8:30. Yeah, yeah. Reception closes at 8 p.m. Oh, it’s closed on the 31st. Tomorrow. That’s right. Unazuki Onsen, a commemorative stamp. Oh, nice. Cool. Black looks good too. Yeah, it’s nice. Unazuki. Looks great. Beautiful. Oh, Kurobe River Electric Memorial Museum. Wow. Unazuki Michi-no-Eki. Oh, we went there, right? Yeah. We should go. Is that the sea over there? Yeah. Toyama Bay. Looks delicious. Yeah. I’d love to try white shrimp. And also winter yellowtail, and trout sushi. Ah, sounds great. I heard the crab is famous too. There’s a place called “Fish Station.” Wow. I want to go there. Freshly caught, freshly prepared. Then if we go there, we should be able to get a meal, right? Look, Fish Station. Yeah. In Uozu. There’s a ski slope nearby. Yeah. It’s called Unazuki Snow Park. A one-day pass is like 1,560 yen, I think. Super cheap, right? Yeah, really cheap. Seriously. But unfortunately, we were thinking of going there. Yeah. It’s not open today—it starts tomorrow. January 30. Oh, it opens from December 31. Can’t be helped. Yeah. It’s a small slope, but it looks fun. Yeah. I really wanted to try it. We’re going to the observation deck. Heading to the second observation deck. Yamabiko Observation Deck. This place is famous for its beautiful autumn leaves. It must be where the trolley runs. Ah, I see, I see. Yeah, yeah. Looks great. The snowy scenery is beautiful too. Yeah. It’s air snowboarding. Yeah, air snowboarding. Heading back to the car. Yeah, it was fun exploring around. Really fun. Now we’re going to grab some food. Let’s go. Where should we go? That place we saw earlier. Fish Station. Ah, Fish Station, right. Yeah. In Uozu, along the coast, I think. Yeah, that’s right. Okay, let’s go. We’ve arrived. Freshly caught, freshly prepared hall. Here it is. This is the place. By the way, yeah. By the time this video comes out, it’ll probably be 2025. This might be the first video of the year. Oh, we haven’t greeted everyone yet. Happy New Year! We look forward to your support this year. Yes, thank you. Nice to meet you again. From Toyama. Yes, from Toyama. But coming here today, I realized that this area of Toyama has both mountains and the sea really close by. It’s amazing. Yeah. It’s so close. You can see the Northern Alps and behind you is Toyama Bay. Incredible. Wonderful. Freshly Caught Hall. Is this like a supermarket? Look at that. It’s alive. This is a flounder. Don’t put your hand in. It’s dangerous. It might bite your finger. Looks delicious. Huh? Oh, it was sold earlier. Ah, this, this—white shrimp. They have more here too. Sashimi. They’ve peeled the shells by hand. Sample tasting? What kind of fish is that? I don’t know. Go check it out. Wait a moment. Here you go. Welcome. Semi-dried komai. This fish is called komai. Freshly Prepared Hall. Charcoal Grill Restaurant “Kokaidou” Thank you. One large portion, please. Yes. And also, Ban’ya meal. And one mixed fried set meal, please. Salmon and salmon roe bowl looks delicious. What’s this? Isn’t this soup? Sweet shrimp tempura bowl. Looks tasty. Mixed fried set meal. Ban’ya meal (sashimi, simmered fish). How’s the salmon? So good. Delicious. Looks delicious. Big pieces. Thank you for the meal. Thank you very much. Wow, it was delicious. Really, so good. Was this the Freshly Prepared Hall? Restaurant? Freshly Prepared and Freshly Caught Halls. The Freshly Caught Hall is more like a market, and Freshly Prepared is the restaurant. Yeah, yeah. The fish ball soup was so fluffy. Really fluffy. Yeah. Absolutely amazing. The best. Michi-no-Eki KOKO Kurobe. There’s a park. Fluffy dome. Observation deck. So spacious. Are the containers the accommodations? Ah, I see. That’s part of the whole facility. Oh, that’s it. Yes. It’s a hotel. Wow. There’s also a bath facility, “Furobaka.” And the fluffy dome. We’re here now, around this area. Wow, amazing. There’s also a coin laundry, right? Coin laundry. I think it’s around here. Shall we go? This is impressive. A high-standard Michi-no-Eki for sure. Yeah. Up here is the fluffy dome. Play area. So big. They have Toyama black ramen. Most popular: white shrimp bowl. Limited revival edition. It says special New Year’s menu. Michi-no-Eki stamps. There are a lot around here—Unazuki, Kurobe. We’ve collected so many. Yeah. Ah, this one looks stylish. Oh. Feels very chic. Yeah.
“` There are fireworks. Unazuki Onsen Winter Story. Wow, nice. It starts from January 11th. Wow, that must be beautiful. Yuya, Furobaka. Looks like they have private baths too. Private sauna and private bath. That’s awesome. The large public bath is in the center. Ah, here it is. You go through here to reach the center. Yeah, yeah. Makiba Shokudo. Drink menu. They have non-alcoholic drinks and also alcoholic drinks. Then I’ll have a highball. And I? Draft beer? If they have bottled beer, I’d like a bottled one. Oh, looks like they have quite a few snacks too. Ah, fried squid looks tasty too. It’s here. Octopus-shaped sausages. Oh, and it comes with fries too. I ordered fries as well. Ramen. It’s easier to eat here, after all. Let’s eat. Here at Kurobe. Cheers. Do edamame and beer go well together? Yes, really well. Also, the sauna here was amazing. Ah, it was really good. On the women’s side, there were two types. One indoor bath, and three outdoor ones. A huge pipe bath, a regular cold bath, and a warm one. Ah, a warm bath, yes. Sauna lovers would really enjoy this. The wood-fired stove sauna. Ah, yes, yes. There was a sauna too, wood stove sauna. Felt super authentic. Löyly and Aufguss. Today, the staff came to do Löyly, creating heat waves with towels, and it was incredibly hot. Wow. So this is Löyly, I thought. Amazing. It was shockingly hot. It’s cloudy. *laughs* Good morning. Ah, I slept really well. The rain and wind were intense, especially early in the morning, even stronger, right? Yes, yes. Snow is also forecasted later, so I wonder how it will turn out. Looks delicious. What is that? Potato? Sweet potato? Is it good? Yes, it’s good. Inside the roadside station building, there’s a kids’ floor. That’s convenient. We’ll eat black ramen and white shrimp. Looks really delicious. Smells great. How is it? Yeah, Dad likes it. What flavor? Soy sauce. Kind of like burnt soy sauce. Oh, I see. Yum. Tasty, right? Mom likes it too. Yeah. Black ramen. It would probably taste even better with garlic, right? Oh, looks good. Doesn’t it have any? I don’t think so. Smells fragrant. Yeah. Oh, it’s big, huh? Big. Quite big. I imagined it would be smaller. Yeah, yeah, yeah. This is Toyama food. Toyama gourmet. Looks delicious. They probably fried the shells too. Ah, nice. Thank you for the meal. We’re back. It’s starting to rain heavily. Wow, there’s even thunder. Rumble, rumble. Shall we start moving? Let’s go. We’re heading to Shirakawa-go. We want to see the snowy scenery of Shirakawa-go. Let’s go. Toyama was fun. It was really fun. The food was also really delicious. So good. It’s been raining after a long time. Yes, it’s been a while. Rain during a trip… Ah, but it did happen. When we went to Kawaba, it was sleet or rain, but it wasn’t that heavy. Yeah. I feel like it’s been a while since it rained this hard. Really. It’s refreshing, isn’t it? Yeah. It’s been dry for a long time. In Toyama too, right? This rain will turn to snow soon, right? According to the forecast, yes. Entering the toll road. Uozu. Ah, I see. “Star Uozu” is the name of this area. Yeah, yeah. I get it now. What? Those T-shirts and stuff… Ah, yes, yes, yes. Star Uozu, huh. Ah, that’s what it means. I noticed a lot of Star Wars T-shirts, but the spelling was a bit different. Right. It was Star Uozu. I was wondering what it meant. (laughs) Uozu is the name of this place. Yeah, that’s right. I see. That makes sense now. You should’ve bought one, huh. The amount of snow is amazing. Yeah. It’s like the snow walls in Niigata. So much snow. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Even with this weather, there are a lot of people. Definitely. Tourist spots are really something. It’s December 31st, but I didn’t expect it to be this crowded. Will we be able to get in? What do we do? The bridge is packed with people. The suspension bridge, right? Yeah, yeah. It’s from there. Look. Wow. After all that, we managed to park safely. It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the temporary parking lot to Shirakawa-go. It was free. Free, but it’s a bit far. Highlights Oh, we can go inside the houses. Yeah, nice. Shall we go in? Let’s go in. Admission fee: Adults 500 yen, Children 400 yen. It keeps snowing like sleet. This building is the oldest existing house in Shirakawa-go. Oh, really? Amazing. Also, snow keeps sliding off the roof, doesn’t it? This area is off-limits right now, too. It’s dangerous. And it’s not just a small amount of snow. It comes down in a rush, like an avalanche. I’m a bit hungry. Let’s go get something to eat. The irori (hearth) is so warm. It really warms you up. Tochi mochi and white mochi. Looks delicious. Yum. It’s snowing now. Snow. Amazing. Time to head back to the car. We’re back at the car. The snow’s getting heavier. Wow. It’s really coming down. More than I expected. It was fun. It’s my first time in Shirakawa-go, It’s amazing. Beautiful. Alright, shall we head home? Let’s go home. Good evening. Good evening. So, this is our New Year trip. It’s January 1st. Right now we’re at the Suwa Lake parking area, and there’s a highway onsen there, but it’s only open until 9:30 today and it seems really crowded. Ah, yeah, it was crowded. So we couldn’t go in properly. Even if we could, it would only be for 5–10 minutes. They said we had to leave by 9:30. So now we’re heading toward Matsumoto to go to a proper onsen. We’re going to take a bath there. Let’s depart. That place is open until noon. Alright, let’s go. Yes. Oh, by the way, this time we’re heading toward Hakuba. The kids want to go skiing. So off we go. We’ve just arrived at the onsen, but we decided to eat first before going in. Katsu-an. Excuse me. Thank you for waiting. Here’s the pork loin cutlet. A cutlet. Looks delicious. Beef tendon. Looks tasty. Look at it—so big. It’s this huge. Doesn’t it look delicious? Yeah. Yunohana Sento Zuisho, Matsumoto branch. Happy New Year! Wishing you a year full of happiness from the bottom of our hearts. We look forward to your continued support this year as well. Nice. It’s open until noon. They even have oshiruko (sweet red bean soup). That’s great. The location is really convenient too. Yeah. It’s right near the Matsumoto interchange. Really close. About six minutes, right? Five or six minutes. Let’s go. That was refreshing. There were various types of baths, which was great. There were also two types of saunas. Hakuba Iwatake Mountain Resort Good morning. We arrived at our destination last night. Yes, we got there around midnight. Uh-huh. And the place is Hakuba Iwatake Mountain Resort. Oh, yes. The reason we chose this place is because of the kids’ NSD Kids Program. It’s like a common pass for children. And for this season, 2024–2025, it can be used unlimited times until spring. Yes, yes. And for early applicants, until December 24th, it costs 1,500 yen. From December 25th to February 28th, it costs 3,500 yen, and all 13 ski resorts registered are available for unlimited skiing for children. Currently, during this period, it’s 3,500 yen. This morning’s breakfast is the Black Ramen we bought in Toyama. We’ll wait five minutes. Oh, looks delicious. Hey, is there any pepper? The pepper was in the other soup earlier. Oh, I see. In the other soup. Seasoning. Yeah, yeah. It’s completely black. Black Ramen. Let’s eat. How is it? Delicious? Not too spicy? Is the spiciness from the pepper? It’s pretty spicy. Eating the ramen is making me hot. (laughs) Ventilate. It’s hot, right? The pepper makes it even more so. Yeah. Ah, there’s also a restroom. Inside. Right now, no one is here. It looks like this. And the restroom was clean too. Clean, really clean. Very nice. This restroom is near the entrance of the parking lot. It’s very convenient being so close. Yeah. It looks like it might be open at night too. Yeah, maybe. It’s open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. So it’s not open at night. Ah, I see. Open from 7:30 to 5. Yeah, got it. Overnight parking is fine, but the restroom situation could be an issue. Our family uses a portable toilet inside the car. Dad and son went to the mountain top to ski. Mom and daughter practiced snowboarding at the kids’ park. Since Mom can’t snowboard, she left advice to YouTube-sensei. Oh, looks like she’s getting the hang of it? Mom’s advice is just to keep sliding down a lot. Haha. Go all the way down. Let’s go skiing. Feels good. There’s a wall here too. How’s the new board? Seems good. Let’s follow that person. Let’s try the advanced course. Are you going, big brother? Carefully, slowly. Now we’re at the middle of the super advanced course, how is it? Tough. Bumpy. Yeah, it’s super steep and bumpy. Alright, let’s go carefully and safely. Good. Quite challenging, huh. Wow, we skied quite a lot. Yeah. Oh, close the window there. That was intense. We went to the super advanced course. Yeah, yeah. Wow, it was tough. It was tough? Yeah. And with the snow coming down and it getting dark… We haven’t had lunch, so we’re starving. Hungry, huh? Yeah. It was fun. Amazing. So let’s go get some food and also hit the hot springs. Yeah. We decided to go to the hot springs first. Hakuba Happo Onsen, Happo no Yu Before getting in the bath, we filled up with Happo Onsen manju. Manju! Delicious. Not too sweet. We just got out of the bath. It was super crowded. Yeah, it was crazy. Felt like being in a potato-washing crowd. But can’t help it, it’s a busy season. Yeah. Let’s go to the supermarket and buy some food. Right. We want to prepare dinner. Let’s go. The supermarket was crowded today. Really crowded. So many foreign visitors. Felt like we were traveling abroad. Yeah, really felt like that. Tonight’s dinner is pork kimchi hot pot. Wow, looks delicious. Looks good, right? Yeah. Finishing off with ramen. Ramen for the hot pot. Yeah, yeah. It’s snowing continuously outside. I guess this is enough. The leftover kimchi hot pot from last night. I need to ventilate, but it’s cold. It’s cold. Yeah. It cools down quickly. Really quickly. Ramen again today. I wipe the containers before washing them. Just rinse them. We’re on the move now, leaving Sun Sun Park. Yeah. We’re heading to the ski resort now. Today, we’re going to Happo-One Ski Resort. Yeah. It seems like their kids’ park is pretty well-equipped. Ah, is that so? Yeah. Looking forward to it. Also, our son wants to try snowboarding for the first time. Alright. Go for it. He’s going to give it a try. Yes. Let’s go. It’s a bit cloudy, so it’s hard to see, but there it is. Wow, it’s huge. Third parking lot? We’ve arrived at the third parking lot. It’s a bit far. Every lot was full. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So it’s a bit distant, but oh well. We’ll just have to walk. Let’s get ready and go. Alright, let’s go. Grab your own board. Kids Park Nagiyama Snow Land Snowboard practice begins. Practicing how to get up. Have fun! Keep a low stance and look forward. Heading back. We’re heading home now. Let’s go. It was a fun New Year’s holiday. Yeah. It was great. Really fun. How was it? Your first time snowboarding. Fun. Fun. Did you do well? Yeah. See you in the next video. Bye-bye.
