Number 16: Yulong River (遇龙河) The Yulong River, often called
‘Little Li River’, stretches for 26 miles (43 kilometers) through Yangshuo County.
Some of the area’s most beautiful scenery is said to be here.
Locals traditionally use bamboo rafts to navigate the river.
These rafts, usually carrying just two people, allow you to enjoy a relaxing float down the
river, guided by the friendly local boatmen. You’ll pass under the Yu Long Bridge (遇龙桥),
a beautiful 400-year-old stone bridge. Whether you choose to drift along the river or
explore its surroundings on foot or by bike, the Yulong River offers a perfect
slice of rural life in Yangshuo. Number 15: Moon Hill (月亮山)

the rock, a remnant of an old limestone cave. The arch stands 230 m (754 feet) tall
and stretches 50 m (164 feet) across, with a thickness of 5 m (16 feet),
creating a dramatic and unique shape. Climbing to the top is pretty straightforward, with steps and handrails
making the journey easier. From up there, you’re treated to
breathtaking views of the surrounding karst hills and countryside.
If climbing isn’t your thing, don’t worry—the view from the parking lot
at the base is still pretty impressive. Number 14: West Street (西街)

both Chinese and Western dishes. You’ll also find everything from local crafts
and antiques to trendy boutiques and street food. West Street is especially popular among younger
travelers, who blend with locals and enjoy a variety of activities from language
classes to international comfort food. Number 13: Yangshuo Park (阳朔公园)

It’s a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of nearby West Street.
Here, you can see residents enjoying their favorite pastimes—whether that’s
exercising, playing chess or mahjong, or simply relaxing on a bench.
The park is shaded with trees and offers walking trails, ponds, and charming pavilions.
Built on a hillside, you can hike to the top to enjoy panoramic views of
Yangshuo’s surrounding peaks. It’s a great place to experience local life
and escape the tourist crowds for a while. Number 12: Xingping Ancient Town (兴坪古镇)
Xingping Ancient Town is a must-visit when you’re in Yangshuo.
Even though it attracts many day-trippers, the town has managed to keep its charm, thanks

One of its most famous features is the view that’s pictured on the back of the 20 Yuan banknote.
Though the town itself is small and can get busy, it’s perfect for a leisurely stroll, picking
up souvenirs, and enjoying a snack or two. Number 11: Watch Cormorant Fishermen
Watching cormorant fishermen in Yangshuo is a unique experience that takes you back in time.
This traditional fishing method, which dates back over a thousand years, involves fishermen
using trained cormorants to catch fish. They stand on bamboo rafts and
cast their nets as their birds dive into the water to retrieve the catch.
For the best experience and photos, head to Xingping village along the Li River, especially
in the late afternoon when the light is perfect. The scene of fishermen with their cormorants,
working under the soft glow of the setting sun, is an ancient practice that’s sadly becoming rare.
Number 10: Rock Climbing Yangshuo is a top spot for rock climbing in
China, attracting climbers from all over. Its unique karst landscape, filled with limestone
cliffs and caves, makes it ideal for climbing. Whether you’re tackling overhanging walls
or exploring caves, Yangshuo offers great conditions even on rainy days.
The scenery is just as impressive, with stunning mountain views and a
mix of caves and tufa formations. Number 9: Xianggong Hill (相公山)
