アスタナから300キロ離れた街で迷子に! | カザフスタン在住アメリカ人
I walk away from the center of the city, the
more countryside this place actually looks. I don’t know where I’m going. I got lost in my
city, Kokshetau, looking for an area where I could see the fall foliage of the city. Along the
way, I met friends. See you. Was harassed by stray dogs. These dogs are barking at me. Debated
Ronaldo or Messi. Uh I think uh Messi rescued puppies. Dogs. They couldn’t get out. All to get
to my destination. Did I make it? find out this part of the city. I want to explore. It looks very
untouched. So, wonder how long it will take me to walk over there. What’s What’s there? That it’s
not so big that I can’t walk around and not get lost, but it is big enough that I can walk around
and get semi- lost. So, I’m hoping that while I’m walking just in this general direction, I’ll end
up in a location where I want to be. From the window of my apartment, it looked as if this step
hill area was about 20, 30 minutes walking from my place. So, hopefully I can get there pretty
soon. As I’m still new to this city, Kokshetau, it’s just a good time for me to actually walk
around and get lost. Because whenever I’m lost in places, I always seem to find like exactly
where things are located or how to walk around the city or that place much better than if I
had not have been lost. Had not have been lost, I should say. Yeah. But this city, this town has
a lot of color to it. As you can see over here, there’s these guys over there working. They’re
building this new apartment building here. There’s a lot of construction going on in the city. A
lot of old buildings in this city as well. Like right here behind me, you can see this old blue
building. It looks like a a house of some sort. So, you’ll see a lot of mixes of like brand new
apartment buildings and old houses here. I mean, wherever I walk here in this city and come check
out. Wow, that car is going fast. I can always see like, you know, new something and then old. New
something and then old. I think this city is like in the middle of its developmental period. Yeah,
maybe. I also remember coming to this building yesterday. I was looking for a restaurant and I
still can’t read Russian very well. You can see here uh yeah, doesn’t look like a restaurant.
So, I walked inside this building. It wasn’t a restaurant. It was actually like a store where
you can buy different types of sports equipment, yoga mats, and things like that. So, yeah, getting
lost, it’s actually a good thing because now I’m starting to know like where things are in the
city. Even if it’s not so close to my home, I’ll know like how to walk there or how to
take a taxi there at least. You see over there, there’s a shop that says Kokshetau. I can at least
read the name of my city in Russian. There’s a bus like right in front of me. People always look at
me in this town like like I’m crazy. More so here in this city in Kazakhstan than any other place I
travel to in the world. Like people just stare at me. They just look at me like, you know, what is
this guy doing? Like why is he here? Like what is the reason for this thing that looks so different
than all of us to exist? It’s actually it’s very enduring because I don’t think people are like
upset with me for the most part or like I guess uh aggressive. They’re just really looking at me
because especially here in northern Kazakhstan, I’m sure there are not so many African-Americans
or people who look like me in this region. Okay, the further I walk away from the center of
the city, the more like countryside this place actually looks. I don’t know where I’m going. Like
the sign over here says Jam Jam. Man, my Russian is so bad. I have no idea what that says. I think
if I walk over this way, maybe I’ll be close to there. But yeah, it’s definitely becoming more
rural in this area. So, I might be on the right track. Hopefully, I’ll be okay. over there. People
are burning something in front of their lawn. And you can see there’s like an old style house here.
There’s another house over there being remodeled. But then right here, I think this is a is this
a company or something? My Russian is actually getting better, but I can’t remember all of the
alphabet. I can’t remember the pronunciations of the the words just yet or the letters. But rest
assured, my Russian is improving. One thing about my city, Kokshetau, is that it’s very dusty here.
Like I haven’t experienced a city so dusty before in my life. Like even traveling in the countryside
in Mongolia. Well, take that back. Yeah, Mongolian countryside. Very, very dusty. But this
is like a city and I’m not so far removed from the center of the city, but it’s so dusty here. Like
everywhere there’s always dust going up everywhere in my shoes, my clothes. But I guess there are
worse things in life, huh? What is this place? Yo, I got to improve my Russian quickly. Okay, this
week I’m going to master the Russian alphabet. No excuses. Love how there are pine trees everywhere
here. Like when I was coming from Astana here to Kokshetau, there was like a place called I
think it was the green zone or green belt and you could see nothing but pine trees like for as
far as the eye can see. And these pine trees are in someone’s yard. But I love how they grow. I
love the smell of them. Oh, there’s a wild dog over there. H maybe maybe I’ll be okay. There’s
some kids over there playing, sitting on some kind of pipe. I think they said hello to me. So,
these kids are out here playing. Yeah, it should be safe enough for me to walk. Take a look at
this little community. Wow. There’s like a a nice little mix of like semi-modern and over here
like a old style house. But this house here, you can see right there, there are CCTVs. There are
cameras all around the house. So, you know, this place isn’t so rural that they are not enjoying
some of the tastes of modern civilization. I mean, this isn’t like country country countryside, but
it looks that way. I’m still looking for those rolling hills, but I don’t see them. I might be
getting close because I think it kind of like cuts off there. The center of the city area or I think
I’m already really outside the center of the city, but I think like over that over that hill just
there. Maybe uh I can see what I’m looking for because I remember the power lines were going that
way. So, just follow the power lines. I feel like I’ll be okay as long as there are people walking
around. But a lot of the people here in this part of the city, they’re acting like a little
scared of me. Like in the center of the city, children are running around and they’re looking
at me and then they keep running and playing or some of them don’t even pay much attention
to me at all. But here in this little rural area of the of the city, yeah, little children
are looking at me. They’re like, “Please don’t hurt me. I don’t know what kind of human you are,
but don’t hurt me.” There’s an automotive shop. Wow. Okay. So, I can see if I keep walking like
more along this street here, the open planes are there. So, it’s much further than the 20 or 30
minute walk that I thought it would be. So, I need to just keep walking straight and then hang a left
like somewhere over there, but it’s very dusty over there. Smokey. I wonder if I’ll be okay.
Should I stop and get a mask or something? So, I guess that’s something that I can remember uh the
next time when I’m walking here. I need to bring a mask because there’s so much dust like everywhere.
My goodness. But dust isn’t going to kill me. It’ll give me a lot of boogers in my nose, but
that’s about it. There are a lot of wild dogs. I don’t want to say wild dogs because this isn’t
like the African safari or African uh savannah, right? But there are a lot of dogs on the street
here. So, we got to be careful not to get bitten. There’s a crow uh excuse me, a rooster in
the background. This place isn’t so dead, but it just doesn’t look like the center of the
city at all. These dogs are barking at me. It kind of made me a little scared to come in this
area because I don’t want to get bitten. I don’t want to get rabies here in Kokshetau. So, I was
like, “Oh, let me run.” But I think if you’re seeing like wild dogs or dogs that are loose,
maybe it’s not such a good idea to run because it can make them chase you. And honestly, these
dogs are small enough that I can like kick them or I can really hurt them. But I don’t want to
have that kind of image of myself here in this city. It’s not even been 2 weeks here and I’m
already like hurting dogs. Better not do that. So, even this section here is a big contrast to
the area where I just walked. Like the homes here are old, but they are more kept than this section
here. So, it was like I went from the center of the city to like not so center of the city where
the houses are more old and not as well-kept to an area that is older. But this area looks a bit more
well-kept than the area that I just came from. So, huh. Interesting. And I love the colors of this
house. Love them. Wow. There are some little dogs over there. And the dogs are stuck in the hole.
I don’t know if I should reach in there because they’re, you know, wild dogs. They couldn’t get
out. They were stuck. Oh, one can get out. And now he’s coming over here to me. Cute. Sorry,
I don’t have anything for you. Oh, maybe he’s asking for help. Maybe he’s asking for help to
get his brother or sister out. I don’t know. Hope he doesn’t bite me. Nah, I don’t think that’s a
good idea. I don’t think I better touch those dogs because I’m going to get I’m going to get bitten.
I’m going to get hurt. But I think I’m almost to the area where I want to go to because I can see
it maybe 10 more minutes walking. But so far, I’ve learned a lot about the area outside of the
center of the city. I learned that there are a lot of dogs here. I learned that the houses are older
and not as I don’t want to say not as well-kept as they are in the center of the city, but they
have a different character than the houses and apartments in the center of the city. And that’s
fair because it’s not in the center of the city. You’re Cristiano Ronaldo. Uh I think uh Messi Messi Messi is good. Those little kids are
talking to me. Uh, English. Bye. See you. Okay. Bye-bye. Bye. They’re trying to speak in English as much
as they can. He said, “Excuse me, they’re just throwing out random English words.” So he said
uh I think this this kid said uh Mia Zavvut and in Russian I think it’s like uh my name is Mia
Zavv. So oh there are a lot of kids over here talking. Hi. Hi. Huh? Vlogger. Yes. Cano channel.
Ah uh do you have phone? Yes. YouTube. Uh YouTube. Okay. See you. I think they
want to know my channel is, but I don’t think they have
a phone. Huh? America. Yeah. Not Brazil. America. I think they don’t
just understand that there are people who look like me from America. Huh? USA. USA. Yes. See you. Uh, y’all eat some
medic. Yeah, medic. Yes. Okay. Bye, guys. See you. Ba. It was fun talking to these little kids. Like,
I get to practice my my terrible Russian. over here. Those are the steps that I want to get
to. I don’t know if I want to walk this way or if I want to walk over this way. I don’t need to
say steps because technically this whole area is steps this whole country, right? But I want to
say that this is pretty cool. There’s like a pipe, some kind of gas pipe or some kind of pipe that
goes up and makes like an arc here, like a doorway or a driveway. And then there’s a house right
here. So, it’s very like uh is it utilitarian or something or resourcefulness that people were able
to build a house and use this piping as a natural doorway? That is so interesting. It shows the
resourcefulness of the people uh in this area. I’m kind of like halfway there. So, on the other side
is where I want to be. You can see if I zoom in, I want to be over there in the field, but I
need to cross this expressway. And from here, I think there is no way for me to cross. There
are some horses that are stable there. Maybe I need to actually walk into this part of the city
over here. More walking. More than I thought I would be doing. I don’t know why it’s so dark over
here, but not dark over here. That’s weird. Okay, there are some horses over there. You can see. And
this is where I wanted to be. I want to be over in this area here. You can see there are a lot of
people. Well, not a lot. There’s like a group of people here, some people over there sitting
and chilling. And you can see the wonderful fall colors over there. I want to get over there and
try to take some photos uh with my camera and with my drone. So, let’s see if I can cross this this
highway. And I’m happy. Wow. You can see some cows over in that area. Oh, I’m definitely going to
fly my drone over there and whatever this is here. But let me walk like more into the inside just
in case one of these cars over here doesn’t want to obey uh the law and drive off the side of
the road or drive onto the side of the road. Yo, this is so cool. Okay, these Kazak guys. Kazak. Uh, they want
to take a selfie of me. A lot of people in this country stop and take selfies of me.
This is so cool. Yo, it’s so cool. Like, I got a lot of good drone footage. Got a chance
to meet some new friends. These guys are walking off over there into the sunset. Actually, I was
a little nervous because I’m out here like in the middle of nowhere. And even though I’m like I’m
not doing anything harmful to anyone, like two guys just walked up on me. So, I think they just
wanted to be my friends. But still, I need to be like more careful here in Kazakhstan because even
though I think the country is rather safe, like this is not my country and I don’t know everything
there is to know about this place. So yeah, I need to take warnings to heart and I come into
these places or come out to these places uh by myself. But anyways, look at this last view. These
fall colors closer view. They look amazing. And I guess I’ll try to come back here another time, but
with people who I know. And hopefully it’ll be a lot colder and there won’t be so many mosquitoes
because I am being bitten so much. All right, guys. I’m going to order a taxi and go back home.
Oh my god. And hopefully recover from all these mosquito bites and these near dog bites. Thanks a
lot, guys, for joining me. Hope to see you in the next one. Love you. Make sure you take care. I’m
out here. I’m in Kazakhstan. I actually moved to Kazakhstan. See you guys in the next one. Take
care. Peace. Oh. Oh. Oh. Stay hydrated. Peace.
