❄️ Snowfall in a Quiet New York Town | Walking Tour 4K
I’m glad you’re here!
Today’s walk is a little different. We’re still in New York State,
just not in the big city. I came Upstate for Thanksgiving week,
chasing that perfect snow day. I kept checking the forecast nonstop,
and right before brunch, snow started. This walk is in Northern New York,
in a small town called Potsdam. It’s part of the North Country region,
near Canada and close to Montreal. Winters up here are long and snowy,
quiet, white, and really beautiful. We’re still a month before winter,
but the first snow has already arrived. It’s that wet, misty kind of snowfall
that doesn’t stay on the ground long. Still, watching it over quiet streets,
campus paths, and small homes is magic. Potsdam is very much a college town,
home to SUNY Potsdam and Clarkson. Students come from all over the U.S.
to study and live up here. If you love peaceful winter walks,
and soft snowy ambience, stay with me. It’s not Manhattan, but still New York,
still beautiful in its own way. So bundle up, get cozy where you are,
and let’s take this snowy walk together. You’ll often hear trains passing by,
cutting right through the town. This region sits along a busy line
used by long CSX freight trains. They connect Northern New York
with the rest of the state daily. This is Market Street,
the heart of downtown Potsdam. It’s a small main street, but charming,
with cafés, shops, and old façades. The soft flakes, slow traffic,
and small-town pace set the mood. Because this is a historic district,
the look is carefully protected. New projects here face review to keep
the same height, style, and materials. Everything from window shapes to brick
must “fit” the character of the street. And that’s why Market Street today
still feels charming and preserved. It’s a quiet, low-rise main street,
far from Manhattan’s tall skyline. But its history, architecture, and calm
show another side of New York State. The Little Italy building dates to 1821,
built from local red Potsdam sandstone. Now we’re turning right onto Elm Street,
a quieter side road off Market. Here the buildings get smaller, older,
and mostly residential in style. Many houses here go back decades,
some linked to early village days. And yes—locals always smile at the
street name, thanks to that horror hit. There’s even a rumor that director
Wes Craven lived nearby for a time. And that this quiet Elm Street
sparked the idea for his classic film. I’ll admit—I’ve never watched it!
Do you know which movie I mean? If you know the title, drop it below,
and tell me what you thought of it.
Join me for a peaceful snow day in Northern New York, a region known for long winters, quiet towns, and stunning white landscapes. I came Upstate for Thanksgiving week, secretly hoping for snow — and I got lucky. As I stepped out for brunch, a soft snowfall began to drift across the streets, creating that magical winter moment snow-lovers wait for.
This walk was filmed in Potsdam, New York, part of the North Country, the northernmost region of New York State, close to the Canadian border and not far from Montreal. Even though we’re still a month away from winter, the season arrives early here. The temperature was 29°F (-2°C) and the snow was the wet, heavy type — the kind that melts fast but looks beautiful while it falls.
In this walking tour, you’ll see quiet streets, the local campus area, small-town shops, the town hall, and peaceful residential blocks slowly turning white. It’s the calm kind of snowfall that transforms everything for a few minutes, and if you love winter days in the U.S., this scenery feels like a postcard.
No narration — just the real sounds of a snowy morning in Northern New York.

Like the big snowflakes. No many walking to run around today! How did you keep camera lens dry, must have a cover. Quiet, only the car tires squalling on the wet pavement and the train goes by. Neat alleyways. You can tell it is a historic district. Love the brick. I grew up on Elm Street in Georgia! Lots of character in these buildings and homes. Look at that Victorian Home! People sure are driving fast on wet roads. Lots of large public buildings. Plenty of greenspace between building. Lots of independent businesses, I like to see that, rather than franchises. What a neat Best Western hotel, right next to the river and park! I want to stay there. I enjoyed every minutes of this video!
Beautiful little town. Love the switch up. Love the snow fall. Always appreciate your work! Thanks so much!

Тротуары немноголюдные
Люди трудятся дети учатся
Пенсионеры по домам сидят
