【栃木・ニューさくら本館・渓谷側の部屋】鬼怒川温泉に1泊2日一人旅【伊東園ホテル送迎バス利用】
Kinugawa Onsen Hotel New Sakura. Access by hotel shuttle bus. All-you-can-eat breakfast and dinner, and all-you-can-drink in the evening! Summary : This time, our destination was Kinugawa Onsen. We took the hotel shuttle bus for 3,300 yen round trip. Since it was late October, the leaves were just beginning to change color. However, I also love this time of year, as the colors change from green to yellow and orange. We stayed at the Itoen Hotel New Sakura. They offer all-you-can-eat breakfast and dinner, as well as all-you-can-drink in the evening. Our rooms on the valley side offered a spectacular view of the Kinugawa River. We also enjoyed the free private hot springs and karaoke, which we reserved on the day . We enjoyed the Kinugawa Line boat ride down the Kinugawa River, where the leaves were just beginning to change color, the Kinugawa Ropeway, and the scenery . We also had the opportunity to feed the monkeys. Just before Onsen Shrine, we also saw the new Soryumon Gate , which was built a few years ago . There are many bridges, including suspension bridges, along the Kinugawa River, so we enjoyed the views from there. Unfortunately , I didn’t have enough time to walk to Takimi Bridge. I saw a sign on the first day warning of bear sightings, so I didn’t take an early morning walk. Kinugawa Onsen Station is home to a steam locomotive turntable, where it spins around every day. I enjoyed a black soft serve ice cream at the Kodama Bento Cafe, located next to the station . You can also charge your phone here. In front of the station is a crowded foot bath and a tourist information center. The tourist center offers maps, brochures, and seasonal exhibits. There were life-size posters of the local hot spring girl, Kinugawa Hinata, lined up. Now, let’s begin our hotel introduction. Please also refer to the chapter list in the description . The hotel shuttle bus fare is 3,300 yen round-trip. Bus stops for Kinugawa Onsen are Nishi-Funabashi Station, Matsudo Station, Ueno Station, and Minami-Koshigaya Station. I departed from Ueno Station. The meeting time was 8:35 AM. The meeting place was the Ueno Station Park Exit. The attendant in the green mesh vest is from Club Tourism. The person on the right wearing the yellow mesh vest is an attendant from Itoen. The bus is parked up ahead. It’s the white bus in the middle. Since it’d been a while since my last visit to Ueno, I arrived early and took a stroll around Ueno Park. Ueno Park was empty in the morning. Early risers can enjoy sightseeing in Ueno Park before touring Kinugawa. Wow, you walked all the way to Shinobazu Pond. Just make sure you’re not late for the meeting time. It took me an hour to get back. I left Ueno Station at 8:50 AM. I was traveling alone, but I was able to use two seats by myself. There were very few passengers from Ueno, so the bus was pretty empty. From Minami-Koshigaya Station, many people boarded, and the bus was almost full. I arrived at the Sano Service Area at 11 AM, and with a 20 -minute break , it was difficult to eat at the restaurant. I bought some Iwashita’s minced meat cutlets with fresh ginger. You just can’t help but buy something and eat it. I arrived on time, around 12:30 PM. If you’re making a reservation for a facility starting at 1 PM, be sure to pick up the numbered ticket near the entrance early. Check-in for facility reservations is at 3 PM, but facility reservations open at 1 PM. When I arrived at the hotel, I picked up the numbered ticket board at the entrance. My number was 8. I waited in the lobby until my number was called by the front desk. Free use of the facilities with reservations includes table tennis, billiards, private baths, karaoke, and mahjong. Of these, only two facilities can be reserved. I chose the private baths and karaoke. I also wanted to play solo table tennis, but decided against it this time. I played solo table tennis at New Momiji last time, and it was a good workout. I’d like to try a right-handed vs. left-handed battle someday. Is solo table tennis that much fun? Yes, it was very fun. Check – in is at 3 PM. After checking in, I picked up a yukata with my favorite pattern from the yukata corner next to the front desk and brought it to my room. I wonder which one I should choose. These green stripes are children’s yukatas. Everyone has a hard time deciding which one to get, right? There’s a vending machine next to the front desk. The water dispenser is at the back of the lobby. There’s an ice machine next to it, but it costs 100 yen. Drinks are around 150 yen, and cup noodles are 220 yen. I stayed in the main building. The main building has three elevators: A, B, and C. I took elevator B to my room, but elevator C was closest. The hotel is divided into three buildings: the main building, the annex, and the south building. The main building is directly ahead. The annex is to the right of the main building. The annex is in front of me, but you can’t enter through the main entrance. It’s connected to the main building by this outdoor walkway with a green roof. The annex has private baths, table tennis, karaoke, billiards, and a game corner. The annex is to the right of the main building. And the south building is to the left of the main building. I didn’t go to the south building, but the map says it has table tennis and billiards. This is likely the entrance to the corridor connecting the South Building and the Main Building. There is no roof. Umbrellas are provided. This is the main building. There is a mahjong room and a rest room here. Elevator C was closer to my room, but I took elevator B. I arrived on the fifth floor. This room is at the very end of this corridor. I booked it through Rakuten Travel, guaranteed a view of the valley, for 12,298 yen including tax. It’s a bit pricey for a single person, isn’t it? There’s a toilet in front of the room that is out of service. This room is at the very end of the fifth floor of the main building. It has an old-fashioned lock. It’s not the type that only lights up when the key is inserted into the wall . Slippers and sandals for the balcony are stored in the large shoe cabinet. When you enter the room, the sink and bath are on the right. The sink has hand soap, a hair dryer, cups, and face towels. The bath has body soap, shampoo, and conditioner. The toilet is on the left. There’s a washlet . Oh, and a bottle of water and a kettle on the right. Below is a refrigerator with a freezer. It is empty. I put a water bottle from above in it to cool it down. The room is a 10-tatami Japanese-style room. The futon is folded in an unusual way. Now, what is the view towards the valley like? There is a large pine cone tree on the right, and you can also see Fureai Bridge and the Kinugawa River. By the way, it seems that you cannot enjoy the view from Room 509 because there is a pine cone tree in front of you . You can see Tateiwa Bridge on the left. As it is late October, there is still a lot of green foliage, but The scenery is gradually taking on autumn colors. This was the next day. It’s only been a day, but it feels like the leaves have already turned red. It’s also nice that there’s no hotel on the opposite bank. You can gaze at it forever. Incidentally, it’s pitch black at night, so you can’t see anything. In the closet, I placed my tanzen, bath towel, face towel, toothbrush, and obi cord. I put the yukata I brought with me. On the other side, there was a TV, safe, and telephone. On the table, there was a tea set for one person. And a futon that looked like it had someone in it. In the closet, there were spare futons and low chairs. The room was clean and bright. Here’s the pattern on the yukata. This is what the futon looked like when it was unfolded. I recommend the valley side. The dinner buffet had three rotations that day. It was the earliest, starting at 5:40 PM. I headed to the Matsu no Ma on the second floor of the dinner hall 10 minutes before. There was no one there. They opened right on time. They don’t open early , even if there’s a long line . I handed over my ticket and received a “Dining” plate. I placed this on the table to reserve my seat. If you’re traveling alone, we asked you to refrain from using the six-person table . Until now, we’d reserved two-person tables for solo travelers, but they said a four-person table would be fine, so we secured a four-person table by the window. However, it was pitch black and we couldn’t see the view. There were three tables for food in the center. This table served mostly fried foods: mentaiko spaghetti, roast pork, mixed vegetables, and mapo tofu. Iwashita’s fried fresh ginger. It was delicious, but even better eaten raw. Tofu skin soup, shishamo, flounder nanbanzuke, and konnyaku. Here, we had the limited-time beef skewer cutlet and menchi-katsu balls. The table with sushi was jam-packed. Komatsuna with sesame dressing, kimchi, and edamame beans. I should have taken a photo of this table first, when it was quieter. The sushi consisted of small fish, steamed shrimp, squid, and salmon . On the other side of the sushi, there was also sashimi. There was a salad table with three types of dressing. In the kitchen in the back, there was chawanmushi. Fried rice. Gyoza. Tempura. Deep-fried chikuwa (fish cakes with seaweed), sweet potato, and shrimp tempura. Near the entrance was the carbohydrate section. Soba noodles. Ramen. Miso soup. Spicy curry. Pickles and rice. A dessert table. An iced milk bar. Lychee and pineapple. Pudding, roll cake, and cream puffs. There were three types of cold sake. Two types of hot sake. Make-your-own sours and highballs. I forgot to take a picture, but they also had draft beer. Soft drinks and alcohol were all-you-can-drink. I took a bite and poured everything. A delicious dinner was ready. I tried three types of sake, just to taste them. I also had a little bit of ramen and soba . Outside the window was a rock formation. Thank you for the meal. Public Bath and Open-Air Bath: The public bath and open-air bath are located on the first floor of the main building of the hotel. This is where you get off elevator B. There’s a water dispenser and massage chairs just before the bath entrance . Massage chairs cost 200 yen for 10 minutes. There is also a rest area. The large public bath and open-air bath are open from 3:00 PM to midnight and from 5:00 AM to 10:00 AM. The changing room uses traditional baskets. Please store your valuables in a locked locker. The water is alkaline, simple, and tasteless. It is said to be good for skin. The sauna is open from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The cold bath. The water is hotter around here, where the spring flows, and lukewarm further away. There are plenty of washing areas. The windows face the Kinugawa River. You can access the open-air bath through a door at the back. It was a little lukewarm for me, but I think it’s perfect for a long soak up to your neck. Looking up, you can see the trees lining the Kinugawa River. There’s also a nice rock for a relaxing lie-down. This is it. The rock is slanted like a backrest, so you can rest your head and lie down up to your shoulders. Be careful not to fall asleep. After your bath, I recommend the lemon milk available at elevator B on the first floor. It’s the soul drink of Tochigi residents. It contains no fruit juice, but it has a nostalgic taste. Private Baths : Hotel New Sakura has four private baths: one cypress bath, one ceramic bath, and two stone baths. I reserved the cypress bath. When your reservation time arrives, exchange your reservation ticket and bath key at the front desk. All private baths are located on the third floor of the annex. Enter through the green-roofed corridor. Once you enter the annex, you’re on the third floor. If you go to the right, you’ll find a game corner and billiards. To get to the private baths, take the stairs on the left or the elevator down to the second floor. The karaoke room, Kinu, has three ping-pong tables. I went down the stairs. The only things on the second floor are the private hot springs and karaoke. My bath is cypress bath number 2, so it’s the second from the back. This is it. It appears that the bath was originally a guest room. I think the bath is on the left and the toilet on the right. Neither door opens now. It truly is a guest room. It’s spacious, so you could even lie down after a bath . The bathroom door was a little hard to open. Since I was the first one to use it, the floor was dry. The water is directly from the hot spring, so it was overflowing. There was only one washing area, and the same shampoos and other amenities as in the large public bath were provided. I wondered about the view, so I opened the shoji screen, but it offered a view of the main building. It would be nice for families too. If your little one gets bored in the bath, you can let them play in the tatami room. You can see the tatami room through the glass, so you can enjoy a relaxing bath while keeping an eye on your child. If you bring a cushion, you might be able to put your baby to sleep. The closet didn’t open. The bath temperature was a little lukewarm. I wonder if this valve can be adjusted. Don’t touch it. Breakfast Buffet: Breakfast was served three times that day. The earliest breakfast was served at 7:00. I arrived at the venue 10 minutes early, but I was third from the front. By the way, even if you use the buffet, if there are more than 10 people, Apparently , private rooms are available. However, those who have used them say that carrying and clearing away food is a hassle . It’s almost time to enter. I exchange my ticket for a “dining” card and enter. I secure the same window seat as for dinner. Omelette, sausages, tamagoyaki (rolled omelet), pickled vegetables, green kappa, and pickled plum. Grapefruit and fruit mix. Fruit sauce and yogurt. Cereal and milk. Natto, seasoned seaweed, soft-boiled egg, and simmered hijiki. Tuna salad with nametake mushrooms, sesame kelp, and okra . The tuna was stolen, so it was almost entirely covered in okra, but the saltiness was just right and it was delicious. It’s delicious over rice. Salami ham, French fries, fried white fish, German potatoes, meatballs. Yudofu shumai . The carbohydrate section near the entrance. Rice, rice porridge, corn soup. Udon. Dried horse mackerel. Salted mackerel. Dried daikon radish. Country-style stew. Kinpira burdock. The salad was the same as last night. There was clam soup in the morning, but someone picked a lot of clams, so there wasn’t much left. There was round bread and white bread. There was margarine, jam, and a toaster. The corner where they had popsicles and desserts yesterday was closed in the morning. In the morning, they only had soft drinks, all-you-can-drink. A delicious breakfast was ready. I took a bite of everything. Next time I come, I’ll make and eat a tuna and okra bowl. Thank you for the meal. Convenience Store : The hotel’s convenience store is on the 5th floor, the same as the front desk. Opening hours are 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM. There is a wide selection of souvenirs, including ice cream, buns, udon noodles, and pickles . There is also clothing, accessories, and cosmetics. They sell lemon milk snacks, but not the actual lemon milk. This is the strawberry section. It seems the only place they sell lemon milk is the vending machine on the first floor. Hey, hey… do you like lemon milk? Did someone call me? I’m a lemon milk fairy possessed by a yellow bear. Maybe I’m like Funassy. I tried drawing it with a mouse. There are all kinds of local bears, too. But I’m the best. The lemon milk bear is 3,780 yen including tax. It’s a bargain. There are lots of accessories, too. The name stickers are cute, so I want one, but they don’t have any with my last name. What’s this stick? Maybe it’s a shoulder massager. A dog wearing a monkey’s skin. Since we’re in Nikko, maybe it’s inspired by the monkeys at Toshogu Shrine. This is the food section, with udon noodles, pickles, and other items. I’ve looked around. Hey, where are we going? Someone called me. I’m a lemon milk fairy possessed by a yellow bear. There’s a shrine on the grounds of the hot spring hotel, and the hot spring is nearby. The hot spring, “Otaki no Yu,” is located right next to the sidewalk. It was quite hot. It was discovered in 1927 by Sakurada Jingoro , a businessman who contributed to the development of Kinugawa Onsen . I forgot to mention my check-out and return bus , but there was a three-way mirror in my room. I’m the lemon milk fairy possessed by a yellow bear. There are so many of us. Waaaah. We’re so cute, aren’t we? I thought to myself . After breakfast, we saw Kurogane Bridge and Fureai Bridge, then finally took a dip in the hot spring, and checked out at 11:00. Thank you for your hospitality. The sign said to lock the door and leave the door open when checking out . I’ll leave my luggage and enjoy the Kinugawa Line boat ride and the ropeway. After enjoying each, it’ll be time to head home before I know it. The bus departs at 3:05 PM. I wait in the lobby until then. The bus arrived a little later than planned. The return bus was almost full, but I was able to use two seats. Both the outbound and return trips were reserved seats. Finally, I bought some lemon milk. We also stopped at the Kinugawa Royal Hotel. Our first stop, at 1:30 PM, was the “Nikko Okaki Kobo, Home of Famous Water.” We sampled some rice crackers. They had hot, freshly baked rice crackers. They also had some broken rice crackers for a bargain price. After this, we got stuck in traffic. The most annoying thing about driving is traffic jams. But, on the bus, you can sleep, so it ‘s fine. A beautiful sunset. Around 5 PM. The bus stopped. But, what a beautiful sunset. Not only was the sunset red, but the taillights were also bright red. Apparently, there had been a chain-reaction accident involving several vehicles on the Tonegawa Bridge in Hanyu. There were six or seven cars parked there. At 6 PM, we took a break at the Hanyu Service Area. This was my first time here, and the exterior was impressive. The interior was also charming. Finally , we arrived in Ueno. We were scheduled to arrive at Ueno Station at 7:20pm, but we actually arrived around 7:50pm. Thanks to the driver for your hard work. Well, I had planned to take a walk around Ueno at night, but I’m sleepy now so I’ll head home. That’s it. Thank you for watching until the end. Please come and see us again. See you soon!
