【2025】埼玉・長瀞の紅葉完全ガイド6選!宝登山神社から荒川橋梁・岩畳・月の石もみじ公園まで秋色満喫の旅 幻想的なライトアップもあり
Nagatoro is a scenic spot in Saitama Prefecture that is easily accessible from central Tokyo. In autumn, the entire town is dyed in vibrant reds and yellows. This time, we will introduce six carefully selected spots to see the autumn leaves in Nagatoro, from classic famous spots to photogenic bridges and quiet hidden gems. After checking these out, your autumn sightseeing in Nagatoro will be perfect! Your journey begins at Hodosan Shrine, located west of Nagatoro Station. This famous shrine is one of the “Three Chichibu Shrines” along with Mitsumine Shrine and Chichibu Shrine. Its history dates back approximately 1,900 years. Legend has it that when Yamato Takeru no Mikoto was caught in a forest fire, dogs, messengers of the gods, put out the flames. For this reason, it was long known as “The Mountain That Stops Fires” or “Hodosan,” and was devoutly revered as a god protecting against fires and theft. Of course, the beautiful autumn leaves that adorn the temple grounds are a must-see, but the colorful sculptures adorning the main hall are also a must-see. The contrast between the brilliantly colored sculptures based on Chinese tales, the solemn white torii gate, and the fiery autumn leaves is a spectacular view that represents Nagatoro in autumn. First, pray for a safe journey and good fortune at this power spot, one of the Three Chichibu Shrines. The main hall’s sculptures feature five dragons at the front and the four gods, as well as a peacock and a phoenix, in the back. The sides feature carvings based on the Twenty-Four Filial Piety of China. This is the Kagura Hall. Kagura performances are held on January 1st, Setsubun in February, and April 3rd. Next up is the Arakawa Bridge, a popular photo spot for railway enthusiasts. In 2025, the Chichibu Railway’s steam locomotive will operate mainly on weekends and holidays from April 19th to December 7th. Be sure to check the operating dates of the SL Paleo Express! The brick bridge piers, built in the Taisho era, create a retro and nostalgic atmosphere. The combination of the autumn leaves of the mountains in the background and this rugged bridge is irresistible. The Kaneishi Water Pipe Bridge is next, a hidden scenic spot called the Kaneishi Water Pipe Bridge. In fact, this is帰りました。 English: It’s a water pipe bridge, but you can walk across it. From the bridge, which is over 20 meters high, you can get a 360-degree view of the flow of the Arakawa River and the autumn leaves on both banks. Be sure to experience the view from a special seat with no obstructions. This water pipe bridge was built in 1981, and before that there was a ferry terminal called “Kanaishi no Watashi.” Transportation was carried out by boat at the ferry terminal, and boats could carry about 20 passengers. However, there were problems such as ferry operation becoming difficult when the water level of the Arakawa River rose suddenly due to heavy rain or dam discharge. With the opening of the Kanaishi Water Pipe Bridge in 1981, “Kanaishi no Watashi” finished its role. It is a campsite. It is a very beautiful place and it would be great to camp in a place like this. After enjoying the view from the bridge, head to “Iwadatami”, the center of tourism in Nagatoro. This place, which is a nationally designated scenic spot and natural monument, is characterized by its rock surface that looks like a tatami mat. Created by the overwhelming energy of the earth and the flow of the Arakawa River, Nagatoro is directly affected by the great power of nature. It’s a very precious place where you can touch the rock formations. Take a leisurely stroll on the rock formations. From the rock formations, take a short walk to the Saitama Prefectural Museum of Natural History. In the outdoor area here, there is the Maple Forest, where you can observe many types of maples found in Japan. Even though they are all called autumn leaves, the shape and color of the leaves vary greatly, so it’s fun to stroll around and wonder, “What kind is this?” Right next to the museum is Tsukiishi Momiji Park, Nagatoro’s best place to see autumn leaves. 入 入 300円 入 21日 English: Tsukiishi Momiji Park boasts such an overwhelming density that the sky turns bright red when the leaves are lit up at night, creating a fantastical world , not to mention its vivid color during the day. It’s a spot where you can truly experience a “tunnel of autumn leaves.” Daytime admission costs 100 yen as an environmental contribution and you will receive a postcard. If you show this postcard, you can enter the night illuminations for just 100 yen, instead of the usual 300 yen . Tsukiishi Momiji Park is lit up from November 12th (Wed) to November 30th (Sun), from 4pm to 9pm. Admission is 300 yen for adults (middle school students and above), free for elementary school students, infants, and preschoolers, and free for people with disabilities (persons only). I arrived around 9pm on the day I visited, so it was too early to go inside, but the lights were still on so I took this photo from outside. The illumination period for Hodosan Shrine will be from November 1st (Sat) to 24th (Mon), 2025, from 5pm to 9pm. What did you think? A spectacular view from the bridge, a historic shrine, and an overwhelming maple forest. Nagatoro has many spots where you can enjoy the autumn leaves all day long. The best time to see them is usually from mid to late November . Please come and visit Nagatoro in autumn. If you liked the video, please rate it highly and subscribe to the channel!
