雨中夜游西江千户苗寨,全球最大苗族聚落,150元住山景房,品尝凯里酸汤牛肉火锅

Hello everyone ! I’m currently at Guiyang Railway Station in Guizhou. Yesterday I traveled from Nanning to Guiyang, and today I’m departing for Kaili. This time, we’re experiencing the Miao New Year in the Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture . Just like two years ago at this time, I was celebrating the Yi New Year in Liangshan, Sichuan. This is an old railway station. Guiyang Station, waiting room number 3. I’m taking a green train. Actually, you could take a bullet train or high-speed rail to Kaili. It only takes 35 minutes, saving 30 yuan, but it takes two and a half hours. I’m not in a hurry. These days, everything is about efficiency and speed; sometimes a little slower is fine. Sitting on the green train, I
watch the train pass through some of the mountains in Qiandongnan, Guizhou , and look at the scenery outside the window. (Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou) The autonomous prefecture boasts two of the most dazzling cultural gems: Xijiang Miao Village, the world’s largest Miao settlement , and the Miao New Year. One is a centuries-old ethnic connection, the other a breathtaking display of architecture and scenery, and the other a festival and belief passed down for millennia. Leishan County in the Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture is truly the cultural heartland of the Miao people. The Miao New Year, to be held in Leishan County the day after tomorrow, is the reason I’m visiting Qiandongnan. Before going to Leishan County, I first visited Xijiang Miao Village, about 30 kilometers away. Although I heard it’s become quite commercialized , it didn’t deter me from visiting the Miao Museum, increasing my understanding of the Miao people in Qiandongnan, and accumulating information and knowledge for writing the narration script for the upcoming Miao New Year film. On a misty, rainy afternoon, I arrived in Kaili City, Guizhou Province, a place I had seen in a movie called “Kaili Blues.” I first learned about this city from the film. It’s hidden deep in the mountains. The green train just passed through so many tunnels… and I arrived at Kaili Railway Station! No umbrella? Oh dear, I remember I’ve been here before , in the spring of 2024. I only took a picture of the market here. Good heavens! I thought this was my first time here! I remember now… I want to have dinner in front of the station. Do you want to warm yourself by the fire? No, no, thank you. Leishan County only has Miao people; you need to go to Liping, Rongjiang , or Congjiang to find Dong people. I’m here to experience the Miao New Year. A 25 yuan twice-cooked pork rice bowl (about 3…) At Kaili Station, I spent 40 yuan (about $5.50) to share a taxi southeast to Xijiang Miao Village, the most famous Miao ethnic minority settlement in China. Xijiang Town is located on the southern slope of Leigong Mountain , known as the core area of Miao culture. Soon, I will step from the modern city of Kaili into a Miao village surrounded by mountains with a thousand-year history. He wants tourists to walk through his commercial street, which is about 500 or 600 meters long. Taxis can’t drive in, so I walked to the entrance of the scenic area. I walked so far in the rain to see the Miao family viewing restaurant and the lusheng ( a traditional Miao reed pipe instrument). Look at the Miao hats in front of me, the silver hats, they are so big! My hair is all wet, I hope I don’t catch a cold. Ticket check successful, come to the front. Thank you . The entrance fee and sightseeing bus to the scenic area cost 110 yuan (about 15 US dollars). I stayed at this panoramic view guesthouse. Of the three rooms, I think this one is more spacious. This room costs 150 yuan per night (about 21 US dollars). There are two other rooms for 120 yuan and 140 yuan , but they are a bit smaller. Look, the bathtub faces the viewing platform. I’ve never used a hotel bathtub before . It uses central air conditioning. It looks quite clean here. The walls are decorated with Miao handicrafts. Pulling out the curtain reveals the viewing platform. I’ve taken several buses here; it feels like a mountainous area. When I first arrived, I felt … The sound of the Lusheng (a traditional reed pipe instrument) playing below, and the lights of countless homes, all in this remote mountainous area , create such a peaceful and prosperous scene. It’s quite a contrast , really. The toilet is battery-operated? I never use those. I grabbed an umbrella and strolled around a bit more. It’s so quiet ! Now I want to see a performance. This lady said she could take me a shortcut. Haha, are you off work? Yes, I’m off work . What do you do here? I work in a restaurant (as a waiter). A restaurant ? Do you have a permanent position? No, we’re just temporary workers. How long does it take you to get home? My home is in another county; it takes us 40 minutes to get back. It takes 40 minutes by car. Could you turn on your phone? (Answer) (Full text) Oh, look at this vegetable garden! These are the vegetables the residents grow. How long have you been working here? I’ve been here for several years. Three years! Oh , there used to be a restaurant down here . The owner transferred me to the restaurant up here. How much do you earn a month there ? We old ladies only earn a little over 4,000 yuan a month. Not much. 4,000 yuan is not bad. Miao , Miao ! I see Miao girls , every girl wears a bun on her head. Haha, did you wear it when you were little? We didn’t wear it when we were little . We never wear it here. Usually, when we go out to work, we do n’t wear it. Sometimes we want to wear it when we go out to drink or have fun. But we don’t wear it often when we come home . Okay, thank you! Haha, from this remote mountain village… Even in rain or bad weather , the reputation of Xijiang Miao Village has made it famous, so tourists come and go. Therefore, some villagers don’t need to go far to Guangdong or anywhere else to work; they can find jobs nearby with a monthly salary of over 4,000 yuan. Local black pork is 10 yuan for 3 skewers or 10 skewers. Walking on the streets of Xijiang Miao Village, perhaps because of the rain , it was cold and damp, and I felt a little disappointed . Was it really worth spending 110 yuan on a ticket to come here? It’s not much different from the hundreds of free ancient towns that have sprung up in China. I couldn’t help but recall the jokes and complaints some tourists made online about Xijiang Miao Village : “It’s too commercialized here.” It’s less about Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village and more about Xijiang Qianhu B&Bs, Xijiang Qianhu travel photography, and Xijiang Qianhu pork skewers. Frankly, Ashu would rather wander into a deserted village in southeastern Guizhou than step onto this meticulously packaged and well-established commercial street. Wow, the weather isn’t ideal, but there are still quite a few tourists . I guess many people came to see the Miao New Year and experienced it, and then stopped by Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village. The day after tomorrow is the opening ceremony of the Miao New Year in Leishan County, dozens of kilometers away. Look, there’s a huge silver ring hanging around the neck. It seems many restaurants offer ethnic performances. The river, including the covered bridge, is quite beautiful. Although it’s raining, it has a unique charm . This reminds me of Wangxian Valley in Jiangxi. The small river flowing through Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village is called Baishui River, also known as Xijiang River. Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village gets its name from this river , which originates from Leigong. On the north slope of the mountain, Wengbaji flows into the Qingshui River after passing through the Xijiang River, and then into the Yangtze River. The river is 16.8 kilometers long with a natural drop of 768 meters and has 10 tributaries of varying sizes . It is named for its shape, resembling a beautiful white cloth. Look at this covered bridge spanning the river, it ‘s quite unique. This has a Lijiang feel to it . In the Miao culture of Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture in Guizhou Province, China, the phrase “high mountains and flowing water” is not an idiom , but a vivid and enthusiastic banquet toasting ceremony. Today, “high mountains and flowing water” can be considered a cultural symbol of the Miao people . We can see several girls dressed in Miao costumes lined up in a staggered formation, from top to bottom, with silver ornaments on their heads and holding wine pots or bowls , toasting the guests in turn. The wine or wine pot resembles water flowing from the mountains , vivid and passionate. This ceremony is often seen at important banquets in Miao villages, such as welcoming guests. Festival banquets, full moon celebrations, wedding banquets, and more — the “High Mountain Flowing Water ” toasting ceremony , along with other cultural symbols, have become an important part of the Miao people’s welcoming rituals. It embodies the Miao people’s welcome to guests , expressing sincerity and showcasing the host’s warmth, hospitality , and etiquette. The sweet glutinous rice wine and the “High Mountain Flowing Water” bowls and cups are part of the ceremony . This is another restaurant called “High Mountain Flowing Water,” a popular spot for online check-ins. The Miao people’s written language has been lost, so we preserve their culture through song, dance , and clothing to record their history and culture. There’s a saying in Miao villages : ” The unwritten history worn on the body ” speaks to the Miao people’s magnificent attire . Next, let’s listen to the traditional Miao lusheng (a type of reed pipe instrument ), bringing you a very beautiful, cheerful, and profound lusheng wind boat. Thank you, Uncle from the Miao people . These restaurants are quite large; each one has a… The performers of the group will next perform a Miao dance , drumming. Take a picture of the distant view with your phone. Look, the shops along the river are doing a lot of business. This place seems to be Guilin or Yangshuo. The local specialty is Kaili sour soup fish. Each covered bridge has a number. This is the No. 6 covered bridge. It
seems that this kind of black-haired pig barbecue is a local specialty. Hello , about 1 yuan per skewer. Bridges are built over water, tunnels are opened in mountains. High mountains and flowing water. Applause and music start. High mountains and flowing water is the environment where Miao warriors live. The Miao people live in a place with high mountains and long rivers. Mountains and rivers surround each other. Sing loudly, sing loudly, hehe , hehe, hehehe, your weight , hahaha . The weight doesn’t look heavy, but it is. Come on, the powerful ones, send blessings . A circle on the left cheek for good health , a circle on the right cheek for getting more and more handsome , good luck and peace every year . Friends in the audience, applause and blessings. Hey, scan one more time, scan one more time, another circle , another circle , hahaha, so respectful. Dear guests and friends, thank you again for coming to Xijiang Miao Village. My shoes and even my trouser legs are soaked! Come here to warm up by the fire. The Miao people’s “High Mountain Flowing Water” experience is a blessing and a way to welcome guests . ( Calling for a friend! ) Hehe, I found you two. Wishing you a pleasant meal and a happy trip! Miao-style hairy tofu, how about some small potatoes? Handsome guy, how about some small potatoes or hairy tofu ? Friends, have you ever tried the hairy tofu in front of you? Hairy tofu, featured on the tip of a tongue in China. Traditional fermentation process, healthy with probiotics. It’s fluffy! Yes, fermented! That’s our local specialty, fresh glutinous rice cake with peanut and sesame filling, and sour soup. Various sour soup hot pots are available here, including sour soup fish , sour soup beef, and rice flower sour soup fish . In southeastern Guizhou, there’s a saying: ” If you don’t eat sour food for three days, you’ll walk like a stray.” I lived in southeastern Guizhou for a few days, and you could say that sour soup hot pot , sour soup fish, and sour soup beef were everywhere. Locals say this because salt was scarce in the past, so residents used sour flavors as a substitute for salt. Moreover, southeastern Guizhou is located in the southeastern part of the Guizhou Plateau, with high humidity, frequent rainfall , and little sunshine. Under these conditions , people are prone to “dampness-induced fatigue,” resulting in low appetite. Food spoils easily, and the stomach is often affected by the humid climate . Sour flavors can stimulate the appetite, promote digestion , and improve digestion in a high-humidity environment. It’s easier to store food there, so both southeastern Guizhou and Kaili can be said to be places where “nothing is complete without sourness.” For example, the Miao and Dong ethnic groups here have created a large number of fermented sour dishes, such as sour soup , sour meat, sour fish , sour vegetables, sour radishes, sour beans, and sour chili peppers . In the days before refrigerators, these were all wisdoms for preserving ingredients for longer. I ordered a sour soup hot pot with sliced beef, pork intestines, fresh tripe, freshly sliced beef , basa mullet slices , Sichuan pepper beef , fried gluten balls , and tender chicken slices. The signature red sour broth has tomatoes, self-service condiments , oyster sauce , fermented bean curd , and satay sauce . This sour soup hot pot is very sour ! Whether it’s beef, chicken, or sashimi, it all tastes so sour in my mouth ! Even with dipping sauce , the sourness still dominates, almost masking the original flavor of the food . First, I’ll add some bok choy—I love bok choy! I ca n’t finish all this hot pot alone ! And then there’s McDonald’s! Wow , it’s so cold, freezing, and wet! Goodnight, friends , see you tomorrow! I need to change my shoes quickly— they’re completely soaked! What am I going to do tomorrow? This bed is too soft ; I prefer a firmer bed . The air conditioner is quite powerful , but I have to turn it off after a while , otherwise… It felt incredibly hot, so I turned it off for a while. Then I felt a bit cold, so I turned it on again and off. I heard a rooster crowing. Let’s take a look at Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village at dawn . Wow, so many people, one after another, just for this scene before us! Finally, the sky cleared, and clouds drifted among the mountains. This scenery is just like something out of a martial arts fantasy drama. At 6:47 in the morning , Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village , located in the Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, has an altitude of 876 meters .
It’s known as the world’s largest Miao ethnic minority settlement. This is a fire rescue rope. And these are some of the wooden houses in the village… Fire safety and escape routes are crucial for the village . The fire rope is hung here so that in case of fire, people can escape quickly by climbing down the rescue rope. See, last night
we fully charged all the equipment. This is our nightly routine, and it’s all thanks to the air conditioning! Last night I took out all my shoes, socks, and insoles and dried them for about 20 minutes. They were completely dry yesterday, so wet you could wring water out of them! Today I can wear dry shoes and socks again without getting cold , hmm, okay! Wow, I’m so happy! It’s a sunny day today. Good morning, friends! Let’s take a stroll through this ethereal village. Thanks for watching, see you next time!
