Hello! This is Yabi Travel. This journey through Kagoshima’s rich natural landscapes We’ll explore the historic town of Aira City. I’ve arrived at Shirakane-zaka, the historic cobblestone slope. About 200 years ago, it was used as a major road. With an elevation difference of over 300 meters, it is a steep slope that is extremely difficult to walk up. Even today, 2.7 kilometers of its original form remains. As I walk, it feels like I’ve slipped back in time. I felt a strange sensation. As I walked along the side street by the slope, A walking path continues toward the waterfall. The sound of the river and lush greenery, Enjoy a refreshing forest bath. After climbing the long staircase, A waterfall cascading down from a height of 20 meters came into view. Because it looks like white cloth It is called “Nunobiki Falls.” I came to the nearby Atago Shrine. It is written that it was built about 250 years ago. To reach the main hall, you climb a staircase of about 170 meters. I’ve been climbing a lot today, so my legs are getting tired. I finally finished climbing the stairs. A beautiful view came into sight. I’m glad I came up! And then the main hall came into view. Worshiped as the god of fire, It is said to offer protection against fire. The view from here was amazing! Shirakane Shuzo, founded in 1869. The oldest shochu distillery in Kagoshima Prefecture, Sweet potato shochu, Shirakane no Tsuyu This easy-drinking shochu is beloved locally. White sand and pine forests stretch for about 600 meters, A very beautiful landscape stretches out before you. The sound of the waves and the sea breeze feel so refreshing. Sakurajima, the symbol of Kagoshima, came into view. A Satsuma warrior who distinguished himself during the Warring States period, I have come to the place where Shimazu Yoshihiro fought his first battle. This is the site of “Hiramatsu Castle,” which was inhabited approximately 470 years ago. An old stone bridge built in the Edo period, full of character. On the rugged peak of Iwatsurugi-dake stood Iwatsurugi Castle. At its base stands Iwatsurugi Shrine. This shrine also has deep ties to Shimazu Yoshihiro. This is a stone triumphal arch, a very rare sight in Japan.
