이젠 아무도 오지 않는 일본 온천 마을에 당일치기로 갔다와봄
Yay~ I’m in Kumamoto right now. Today, I’m going on a hot spring trip for the “Autumn Hot Springs Special.” Hot spring trip❤️ 7:51 AM… It’s almost 8 AM. I went out to rent a car early this morning. It’s called Tsuedate. There’s a unique hot spring town about a two-hour drive from here, so I’m thinking of checking it out! That’s it. Green! – Hello~ – Hello, I made a reservation for a day trip today. Yes! Is this your first time renting a car? – Uh… I’ve done it a few times before. – Oh, I see! (Afterwards, I received a brief explanation about insurance and how to deal with accidents.) Ta-da! My car for today! (It’s a Suzuki.) Is it a Subaru or a Suzukin ? Anyway, it’s a compact car . It’s 8:30 AM now, so if we get there, it’ll be 9:30 or 10:30. From 10:30 to 4:00 PM! Seems like plenty of time, right? About 7 hours? Assuming we arrive without any problems, we can fully enjoy the Tsuedate hot springs for about 7 hours . Tsuedate Onsen, Kumamoto (hot spring) The location is a bit tricky. It’s between Kumamoto and Oita prefectures, right? Think of Tsuedate Onsen as being between Gyeongsangnam-do and Gyeongsangbuk-do provinces. Its location can be a bit tricky to get to, though. It’s quite famous, so you can go from Fukuoka or, like me, Kumamoto. There are plenty of options. Wow, the weather is clearer than I expected; I think a slightly cloudy day would be more atmospheric than a clear day like this! The reason I chose Tsuedate Onsen for today’s hot spring trip was because of its visuals… unique! Compared to other hot springs, it’s incredibly dreamy. It’s almost like being in a dream! When I first visited, it was a place that Koreans don’t often go to. Nearby… where was it? Kurokawa Onsen? A lot of people go there. The hot spring we’re going to today isn’t frequented by many (foreign tourists), and it has a long history. It’s a bit declining now, isn’t it? It seems like locals still visit, but it’s not well-known to foreign tourists, and the atmosphere and narrative are a bit interesting. I was curious. So, I ended up going there for those complex reasons. (Arriving at Tsuedate Onsen) Wow, it’s refreshing! We’ve arrived at Tsuedate Onsen! The sunlight is warm, but the breeze is just right! I came here for work and parked my car over there right now? This seems like a bit of a midpoint! If you go to the starting point, there’s a really famous onsen ryokan here called Hizenya (ひぜんや) . It seems to be well-known among the locals for its value for money ! It’s about 150,000 won, I think? If you time it right, you can stay for 150,000 won, including breakfast and dinner . ..But there’s no one else on the street right now, so it’s a bit embarrassing to talk loudly?;; (Suddenly discovering a school) A school with a really old-fashioned feel. (I can’t stand being curious.) Hey, is this open? No way. Oh! If it’s open, I have no choice but to go in! Excuse me. Before going to the hot springs, I thought it would be fun to show you this place. Wow, the floor is covered with tatami mats? It really feels so old. It feels like a school built in the 70s or 80s. Wow..! Hey, look at the TV. Wow.. (It looks good even if it breaks down right away.) Does it work? Anyway. The hot spring hall usage fee.. The amount and everything is written on it! I guess they rent this place out too! Here, they divide it into parts and the rental fee table is posted like this! And this is probably a list of the people who manage this place . There’s also a gym here. Wow, it’s been a long time since I’ve been here. This, this, this. Oh, it’s locked. Hasn’t it been so long since I’ve seen a stove in the middle? When I was in elementary school, we used to have this in the middle of the classroom like that (and that was 2n years ago..) We used to sit at desks nearby and study. This place brings back memories . Wow. Carp. It’s not now, but I think it was around April? They have a carp flag festival where they hang a ton of flags in the shape of carp ! I saw a lot of people come here back then, and the photo looks like this . It’s a little broken, though. 3,500 carp streamers are hung along the river, fluttering in the spring breeze, creating a spectacular sight. This event has been going on for over 40 years, and it’s one of the origins of the carp streamer display event. The carp streamers originally symbolize children’s healthy growth and success . So, basically, they pile them up here, and when the event season comes, they’re all taken out and decorated. I get it. What’s this? It looks like a fire hose ? Wow! Is this also used for that festival? Seeing this makes me want to come back again in April or May? Oh, this… I’ve seen this before, lol. They make round holes in bamboo and light them up! It’s so dreamy and pretty, right? There are some with large holes like this, and others with delicate ones . They’re really pretty when lit up at night. Maybe I have a bit of a phobia? This screen right now might be a bit burdensome for people who have that … Taxi company and bus stop, wow, it’s so rural, rural. What kind of train station is this? The desperate timetable has too many empty seats . If you miss one, you’ll have to wait for almost 2 hours. I was worried about parking, but there are places like this in the middle of the road where you can park , so I don’t think I have to worry too much. By the way, the weather is really nice. It’s nice, but I think the weather that best brings out the atmosphere of this hot spring is cloudy. Do you see that smoke? Looking at it overall There’s this spot where this smoke is billowing out, and it’s truly spectacular, everyone. I think that backdrop best represents this neighborhood, so I’m planning to go check it out right now, but I’m not sure if it’ll capture the emotion I’m looking for; judging by the people who came here, it must have been taken on a cloudy day… Wow, the smoke … the smell; Oh my; It smells like fart? ;; I think it’s sulfur? The smell is quite bad. It’s coming out of here too. Wow.. Wow. What are these bubbles?; Hey, is this okay? The water must be warm, and this smoke is like this. Wow… The backdrop is killer? Oh, this line..! They’re hanging the carp on this line! So, if you look at the festival photos, there’s that carp-shaped thing I showed you earlier on the riverbank , and it’s fluttering really well? It looks like it’s hanging all over this side! Anyway, the reason Tsuedate Onsen got its name is because of a monk here? An old man who bathed in the hot springs here! Before bathing in the hot springs, he used to walk with a cane. But after bathing in the hot springs, his body got better and he could walk without the cane ! So he threw away the cane and a sprout grew from the abandoned cane . That’s the story behind the name Tsuedate Onsen. Tsue (杖) means cane and tate (立て) means to stand. ! You could have parked your car here, but anyway, what are you doing sitting down? That’s why the name of the onsen, which means ‘standing cane’, is said to have been given to it, or ‘standing cane’ . But it feels a bit like a ruin . There are places where there is no glass in the windows and it’s a bit shabby. There are many parts where you can’t see any signs of human habitation . This place used to be called “Kyushu’s living room” and was one of the best hot spring towns in Busan (kind of like a hot spring resort) in Korea. However, with the collapse of the bubble economy and the lack of a successor to the inn, it’s said to be on the decline . Not many people come here… They sell pudding and ice cream (I think they’re closed today) and there’s plenty of parking. Oguni Village Tsuedate Onsen… Tsuedate Onsen Oguni-machi This is a neighborhood within a town called Oguni-machi, and Oguni-machi itself has a population of about 5,000? It’s a little less than 6,000! That means that if you subtract the people living here, it’s not that much. Some say that Oguni-machi itself is a town with no people . Wow. As I showed you earlier, there ‘s a lot of smoke coming out of various places right now. There’s some over there too. So the hot springs in this town… the temperature itself is said to be incredibly high! It reaches 98 degrees Celsius and water close to 100 degrees Celsius gushes out..! So, because the temperature is so high, it evaporates on its own like that. Because the temperature is high, there is a spot called Mushiyu (蒸湯) where we eat boiled eggs when we go to a jjimjilbang (Korean sauna) . I think there is a spot like that here? So, if you go to a certain spot, you can buy eggs or vegetables and steam them and eat them . So I will try that later. (I went into the alley) Is it that hot? (Don’t copy me, it’s so hot.) It looks like a cafe, but the Chinese characters for “onsen” are like this… Wow.. The water is boiling. It’s boiling. The smell of rotten eggs is a bonus. Hello~.. Since it’s the countryside, you have to say hello to everyone you meet. I made a video about it before, but in the countryside, if you don’t say hello, you’re seen as a weirdo! The countryside is small, so you know a lot of people. So, the number of people you see as you come and go is limited. That’s why you say hello, but you also say hello to mean, ‘I’m not a weird person.’ If you make eye contact but no one says hello, you start to think a little bit like this (suspiciously). They’re all ryokans. This one’s a ryokan. That one ‘s a ryokan. This one’s a ryokan . This one’s a ryokan . This one’s a ryokan . (I found a natural steamer..!) Manners and usage of the Mushiba (steamer) The steamer is free to use at Tsuedate Onsen.. Oh, what a free deal . So, wash this one over there first. Oh, normally, steam should come out of this. Steam should come out from here, but (business closed) it’s not coming out right now . So, you put this one next to it like this. You put this one on top and put an egg or corn on it and cover it. (Complete) But there’s no smoke coming out; lol. But I was really curious, who is this old man? He seems to be a doctor? He’s said to be the father of modern medicine? I can’t read his name. This old man’s face is there and behind him, like a Taegeukgi hanging from a pole. Is he from this neighborhood? He’s made incredible achievements in the medical field. He kind of looks like that kind of old man. Just looking at that building (the Yik Cheong Building) , it reminds me of that house that sticks out like a brick wall in Hong Kong. It’s similar to that. This place is completely reduced to rubble; ‘Hotel Kukita’ (it used to be a hotel) is a ruined hotel. It looks like people still live here , but it can’t help but feel abandoned. Behind this, in this part… (a suspicious bridge is discovered) (an alarm suddenly rings) It’s 12 o’clock, so right now… the noon alarm… Me, you. As soon as you enter, there’s Korean writing? ‘Maple Bridge where you write your wishes and hang them.’ It looks like a bridge that grants wishes, right? Hey, this is well drawn. ‘May your basketball skills improve.’ ‘Fukuoka people’ become smart + healthy It seems like everyone wishes for the same thingㅎ By the way, Tsuedate Onsen seen from the Wishing Bridge ‘May everyone always be healthy and lucky’ February 1, 2025 More Koreans came here than I thought. My Japanese friend said after seeing this that Koreans are everywhereㅋㅋ There are traces of them everywhere, reviews everywhere, and they are here and there (the issue of the lowest birth rate) They will become a rare species in the future, but hey, this alleyway.. the feeling is no joke By the way, there is one on the opposite side of the ryokan here (hot spring village). It’s bigger than I thought? There’s a lot to see , right? Is there a bath here too? Put in 2,000 won per person (look around the 2,000 won hot spring). But judging by the hat hanging right now, I think someone is there. The door is closed (so the women’s bath is open) Oh, so you have to pay over there.. pay to go in. (Temperature swoosh) Shampoo, conditioner.. they have it all? Is it possible to go into the men’s bathhouse when you go to work ? I don’t know🤷♀️ Oh. Wow, this is really interesting. Wow, there’s actually a lot to see here..! There’s a place to pray, and isn’t this just the spring water? (Tastes like water) Hmm.. It’s delicious . But, I don’t want to drink the spring water right now, I want to eat; Come to think of it, I haven’t eaten yet..! I was so busy sightseeing that I forgot to eat. If there’s a place to eat, I’d like to eat there, but oh, if you go into the alley I just passed, this ‘Yaksa-dori (Yaksa-gil)’ alley (which roughly means there are a lot of small things to see), there’s a convenience store. There’s an orange convenience store over there, but it’s a bit of a waste to come all the way here and eat convenience store food. There are too many stairs to go up to Tsuedate Shrine ? ..let’s go up Just to the end (I really didn’t come) Somehow I feel like I won’t come back once I pass here, so I wonder what’s up there (Unintentionally forced myself to march;) Let’s just go that far, only to that end I’m suddenly exercising (Forced Lucky Vicky spirit) Hey, thank goodness it’s the end (Fortunately, that’s all I can see from below) Ta-da✨ (Green forest + shrine = Ghibli sensibility) A shrine.. The atmosphere is goodㅎㅎ (It feels like I climbed 1000 steps) Hey, but I didn’t know I’d get tired just coming up this far? I didn’t mind before , but it looks like I haven’t exercised?; My stamina is lower than I thought (I found something after coming down from the shrine) It’s called Ashiyu (足湯), so it’s like a foot bath? ‘Unfortunately, it floated away..’ It was a public bath..! It used to be a public bath, but it was flooded in 2020… It was flooded, but it seems they restored it a bit and turned it into a photo spot. I thought it was a foot bath, but it wasn’t. But you said there was steaming water earlier, so steaming water! There’s one over there and one across from it where you can boil eggs ! It looks like it’s steaming over there, so it would be nice to boil eggs there, but the problem is, where do you get the ingredients (to boil them)? I want to ask a local , but it seems like there are more tourists than locals. The only people I see right now are the kind of people who would immediately say they don’t know if you asked an outsider (though miraculously, they did find one). Sumimasen, where do you get the ingredients for steaming water? Shouldn’t they be in the vending machine or store I see over there? Oh, are you talking about the one right in front of you? I’m not sure if it’s that one or not (I think it’s #&47.. (I didn’t catch the rest well, so I’m just judging by the looks of it) Oh, I understand. Thank you! Tsuedate Onsen Police Station (It looks like there’s nothing to do because it’s so peaceful;) ..right?; Free foot bath Oh~ This is it! ..Cat cat Hello, what are you licking like that; Anyway, everyone, I think I found a good spot. There’s a foot bath spot right next to Mushiyu right now ? So, we put the ingredients here and spend time here soaking our feet . (I bought raw fish and butter potatoes. 5,000 won/2,000 won) Two like this – Sumimasen, can I take a look inside for a second? – Yes Ah.. Ah like this – Would you like to put them in? – Sure! Is it okay to put all of these in? Some people have already put some in, so I think I can just put them in like this! Mine, these (eggs) two, wouldn’t that be okay? Like this, my spaceㅋ Pushing them like this (Signs of foot bath while boiling) The hot water seems to come out here. It gets hotter as you go to the left and lukewarm as you go to the right, as written in front! And there’s also wifi, so you can watch YouTube while soaking your feetㅋ And if you look to the left from here, it’s mushy . My eggs and potatoes are being boiled right over thereㅎ A short break for 15 minutes.. (20 minutes later, tasting time) (The cat that was licking the hot spring water earlier comes after smelling it) Look how it smelled this and came; (Chasing them away for now) I bought 6 eggs, but it’s too much for me to eat alone. Should I boil the rest and just peel them one by one? If I leave them raw, they might just rot.. I shouldn’t have left like this..ㅠ No wayㅋㅋㅋ (The cat robbed me of the eggs;) Oh, while I was getting the rest of the eggs, right now… the cat! Hey, honey! 💢 I can’t help it. I’ll just give these to him . Here, you eat them. (My precious life..) I accidentally donated to a cat; (I regret eating a buttered potato) So (I don’t know much about animals;) Can I give eggs to cats? (Suddenly summons GPT-chan) “It’s actually safe to give boiled eggs.” “I think it’s okay to give them a little bit as a snack sometimes.” (GPT devotee) Since GPT-chan said so, I’ll take it. The potatoes are delicious. The butter scent spreads faintly, and it must be delicious. But I’m finally eating . (I think it was around 2 o’clock.) I’m finally eating my first meal. Actually, I ate an onigiri on the way here, but that can’t be considered food, right? (I found something .) My egg thief (Keeps eating because he’s hungry;) What the hell? (Okay.) (Quickly takes it away.) It must know how to eat since it looks like you’re the one who put it in . This is the first time in my life that a cat has stolen my food; but seriously.. I can’t even see the tip of a nose.. I can’t even see the tip of a person’s nose; I can see signs of life, but there’s definitely people , like laundry hanging in front . They’re alive! But should I say there are hardly any on the streets? Still, it’s a hot spring town with a long history, dating back 1800 years. But nothing lasts forever. It’s a little… bittersweet. But it’s good that they’re selling this, but there’s no trash can; It’s a little difficult to clean up after yourself; It’s just delicious (Arrived at a cost-effective hot spring spot👍) Family bath “Exchange type (入替え式)” 6,000 to 8,000 won for 1 hour It looks like I can use one since this door is open ? – Hello~ – Hello Can I exchange coins? Here~ Thank you .. This is how they give it to you. If you go into this open area, it costs 8,000 won . One use is 8,000 won. If you close this door, it’s your space for 1 hour . Take off your shoes. Bathing time is under 1 hour. When you open the door, voila~ Wow! (Too much openness) Oh, I guess I have to close this door; So I thought you put money in and the water comes out? (Put it here) Please put money in the coin timer. When the red light on the lamp turns on, turn the valve and the hot spring water will come out . Put 1,000 won coins in one, two , three , four , oh! and it will come out..! Tsk tsk but when did this, when did this all fill up?; It feels a bit like a wild bathhouse itself; By the way, there is no shampoo or conditioner, so you have to bring your own! (Rare preparation lol) That’s why I brought everything lol Oh, right. There’s no hair dryer, so you have to dry it with a fan? It might be a bit inconvenient for people with long hair. (Later discovered the valve) Ah, I have to turn this. Ah, okay, okay. (The hot spring water finally starts pouring out) Ah, somehow~ lol This is going to require more trial and error lol Oh~ It’s getting a bit hot now! Hehe. It says within an hour, so 3:05? I think it should come out by 3:05. (Let’s go take a bath) Ah, it’s hot. Hot, hot; The angle is a bit harsh; Hey, but why.. My feet smell a little?; I’m in the bathtub right now. (Around 37-38) The water temperature is just right! Pump work.. Pump Ah~.. So it’s going to come out like that for 30 minutes? It’s not coming out for the whole hour, no, if it comes out for 1 hour, it’s going to overflow ㅋㅋ Even so, it’s a hot spring, right? ㅋㅋ It says the benefits are written there! It’s good for neuralgia, muscle pain, and frozen shoulder (it says it’s good for the back) And it’s a natural hot spring? It’s a natural hot spring that comes out at 75 degrees from 300m underground in the deepest part of Tsuedate Onsen ! Hey~ I don’t know when it’s been a while since I’ve been to a hot spring like this . How long has it been? (Renting the whole bath..) Hot springs.. This is my first time coming to a hot spring like this, and according to Google reviews, it originally says it’s open 24 hours, but it doesn’t seem to be. There are a lot of reviews from locals saying things like “Good value for money and great hot springs” ! (Here. Shiraiwa Hot Springs) Of course, if you come with family, you should go to a nice place like a ryokan, but for people like me who come alone and don’t really need a ryokan , this hot spring might be suitable , right? lol Still, I ended up doing everything I planned . When I came here, I thought “I absolutely have to do this,” so I did two of them. 1. Eating raw fish at Mushiyu and 2. Enjoying the hot springs . In total, I spent almost 2,000 yen? Around 20,000 won? Eggs 5,000 won, potatoes 2,000 won = 7,000 won, hot spring 8,000 won 1,500 yen, 15,000 won! For 15,000 won, you can have this experience (15,000 won of happiness) ㅋ .. It’s greatㅎ A unique experience full of virtual money ! And you even got a foot bath! (For free) It couldn’t get any betterㅋ Isn’t it? ㅋ “But isn’t the best thing to do?” you might say, but going to a ryokan has the same impression as Koreans going to Signiel (= going on a staycation at a luxury hotel) ? For Japanese people, ryokans are one of the accommodations with a very high barrier to entry . They say that if you casually say to your Japanese friends, “Shall we go to a ryokan?” even as a joke (you might give them the impression that you don’t want to go together and are saying this on purpose), “Huh? Do you want to break up with me?” “Do you not want to travel together?” Because it can give this impression, the main purpose of Koreans coming to Japan is to spend money and live in luxury, so they easily go to ryokans, but things change when you live there; just for one night (it’s very burdensome to burn half a month’s rent in one day), how can you burn 200,000 to 300,000 won? It’s a bit much to spend a lot of money on lodging in the first place; Well, while talking about ryokans, I suddenly ended up saying this , but someday, when I earn a lot of money, I might be able to easily stay at a ryokan, but that’s not the case right now, so I’m enjoying this cost-effectiveness in my own way. This is also a trip, right? Anyway, that’s how it is. (I realized this later) I didn’t know what was 600 yen and what was 800 yen, but I went to the hot spring over there? It was 8,000 won over there, 8,000 won… The further you go, the cheaper it gets! Here is the 7,000 won one and the one over there is the 6,000 won one. As you go in, they get cheaper (I felt it was a waste to just go to the hot springs..) Wow! Oh my, it’s dazzling . I felt it was a shame to only go to the Tsuedate Hot Springs , so I looked for places to visit nearby and this place has such a pretty view! “Kameishi (亀石)” (20 minutes by car from Tsuedate Hot Springs) It’s pretty. Hey, is that it? Tsuedate Hot Springs.. Is that it? Can you see it? I don’t know if it’ll be captured on camera. (One last time before leaving the hot springs..) I tried to take a thumbnail of that one earlier , but it didn’t match the feeling I wanted. I wanted to capture the feeling of the ruins, but it’s ruins, it’s too bright, and the weather is too nice. I can’t capture the atmosphere I want. Hey, but I think this is just about the right feeling. Let’s quickly take a thumbnail and finish up. The lights are coming on one by oneㅎ Hey , looking at it now, it looks like no one lives there either! It’s all empty. All the windows are open and there are no signs of life! Same here. (After taking a thumbnail like that quickly..) Yes, anyway, I’ll enjoy Tsuedate Onsen. It has its own unique atmosphere, should I say? I think it was nice because of its charm! When you see it at sunset, it doesn’t have that feeling of being even more bitterㅎ I’ve always wanted to come here, and I finally got the chance to visit Tsuedate Onsen! I recommend it to those who want a special onsen trip ! But it’s not an entirely bright atmosphere, so I think it’d be perfect for those who are looking for a more maniacal onsen . And to all you ruins nerds. There are a lot of ruins. Anyway, thank you for watching until the end, and I’ll see you in the next video.
