【沼津ひとり旅】沼津港で競り見学とキラキラの海鮮丼に舌鼓 |大きな富士山を前に故郷の母を想う|洒落たブランチやレトロな喫茶店を楽しむ
Today, I’ve been looking forward to visiting Numazu! Numazu City is located in eastern Shizuoka Prefecture. It’s a port town facing Japan’s deepest bay, Suruga Bay. Surrounded by abundant nature, it’s a thriving fishing and agricultural region, home to tea, mandarin oranges, and other produce . It’s also the holy land of the anime “Love Live! Sunshine!!,” which depicts the struggles of Numazu-born idols. I’m planning a two-day, one-night trip to enjoy Numazu! First, I’ll head to Creperie Cafe Ferme, located about a 20-minute walk from the station along Sanno Street for brunch . The cute interior, which also sells merchandise, really lifts my spirits. I found the perfect place for brunch! It’s a casual French restaurant known for its buckwheat galettes. I order by scanning a QR code. In addition to savory galettes, they also offer sweet crepes and curries. I’ll go for the galette lunch, which includes soup and a drink. First, I’ll start with a piping hot soup: a potage of onion and cabbage. The soup is packed with the delicious flavor of vegetables and has a refined flavor. Then, I ‘ll have a salad galette with prosciutto, mushrooms, seasonal vegetables, cheese, and eggs . The stylish galettes stand out against the turquoise blue plate! Let’s eat! Unlike wheat flour, the dough is crispy because it’s made with buckwheat , so it’s a little difficult to cut, but the texture is pleasantly soft . It’s also packed with vegetables, and it’s very delicious! Buckwheat galettes are a local dish from the Brittany region of France. When you hear buckwheat flour, you might think of Japanese soba noodles, but in areas where wheat is difficult to grow, buckwheat is grown instead in various places. This is seasoned potatoes, and it’s very filling, so one dish is very satisfying! It comes with coffee, and this is the dessert I ordered separately: chocolate cake, served with whipped cream and fruit. I’m not sure if it conveys anything, but it has a moist texture! The rich sweetness is complemented by the bitterness of the cacao, giving it a deep flavor. The cake was large and the value for money was excellent. We had a pleasant time at a table with soft light filtering in through the lace.Numazu Nakamise Shopping Street in front of the station is a shopping street that retains the retro atmosphere of the Showa era.I bought souvenirs at a long-established confectionery shop in Nakamise Shopping Street. The signature product is “Hosakano Chestnut Crackers”.The ingredients are only tebo (white beans) from Hokkaido, water and sugar from Mishima, and it is a simple and gentle-tasting candy. It has been made using the same method since the shop opened in 1928.If you come early in the day, you can apparently see the baking process. It ‘s amazing that they have been selling only chestnut crackers and candy for almost a century! About a 15-minute bus ride from the station, we arrived at Numazu Imperial Villa Memorial Park. This garden, located along the coast of Numazu City, is associated with the Imperial family. The “Main Gate” is the exclusive entrance for the Emperor and Empress. The main gate is said to have been made in Germany. It was originally built as a retreat for Emperor Taisho, and was used by many members of the Imperial family until it was later abolished . It is now a memorial park and open to the public. First, you pay the entrance fee at the reception desk. There are many points of interest scattered across the large grounds, but this time we visited the “West Annex.” We took off our shoes and entered, and proceeded along the designated route. The rooms for ladies-in-waiting and security guards are near the entrance. The dilapidated parts have apparently been renovated over the course of several years. The sink and stove in the kitchen remain as they were at the time, and the facilities gave an impression of simplicity. Valuable items and documents are on display. There is a model of the main residence, which was destroyed in the Numazu air raid. The distorted glass was apparently commissioned from a German craftsman and reproduced to look like the glass from that time. The preserved furniture and fixtures in the dining room are It was apparently built during the Meiji period. The audience hall is the room used by the Emperor when he met with visitors. The throne armchair is a 140-year-old example of typical Japanese court furniture. The living quarters are at the end of the corridor. “Carpets on tatami mats” is a Japanese-Western blending custom seen in imperial architecture. It gave us a glimpse of a place we don’t usually get to see. There was a chrysanthemum exhibition going on at the time, and the garden was gorgeous. We took a break at a teahouse converted from a stable. The website says it’s only open on weekends and holidays, but it’s probably best to check if you’re visiting on a weekday. It was chilly, so we ordered zenzai with mochi. It was piping hot! It was filled with lots of red beans, and it warmed our stomachs. If we had time, we would have liked to have visited Suishotei (the teahouse) as well… Thank you for the meal! Bus driving along the coast ! The sea is here! I should have gotten off at the “Nagahama” bus stop, but I went too far. I got off at the ruins of Nagahama Castle. This castle ruin was the base of the Hojo clan’s navy after they ruled the entire Kanto region during the Sengoku period. I didn’t climb the mountain this time, but my destination was about a 20-minute bus ride from
the Yacht Harbor Imperial Villa in Uchiura Nagahama. I arrived there looking for a place where I could see the mighty Mt. Fuji. This place, where many yachts are moored, used to have a fishing pond, but it seems to have gone out of business. There were a lot of clouds today, so I was half-giving up, but I was overwhelmed with emotion. I envy that you can always see Mt. Fuji like this! A parent and child were enjoying fishing, and it looked like they had caught something !!! What was that? It was just the right timing, and even I was excited! This is apparently a moray eel. It’s not my cup of tea, but seeing the happy expressions on the parent and child’s faces makes me happy too… When I see Mt. Fuji, I am reminded of my mother back home. When she was a new housewife and felt like she was about to give up, she came to see Mt. Fuji alone. The majestic sight of it encouraged her, and she regained her energy and headed home. Ever since hearing this story, I have come to love Mt. Fuji even more. This is such a beautiful port town. The view of the mountains changing into autumn colors is also touching. Mt. Fuji and Awashima dyed in the sunset . Well, I think it’s about time to head back. This was the bus stop that appeared in “Love Live! Sunshine”! Inside was “Love Live! Sunshine!!” Isshiki I’ve never seen the anime itself but I watched a digest video and the places I visited popped up one after another and I was so happy to say “I went there!” (lol) I’m glad we were blessed with good weather, thank you Mt. Fuji We had kamameshi at a long-established Japanese restaurant just a few minutes from Numazu Station . Their eel chirashi seems to be their specialty, and they also have set meals and rice bowls other than kamameshi, which is great for someone like me who can’t drink alcohol. They only start cooking after you order so you have to wait about 25 minutes. The manager’s recommended kamameshi with golden eye snapper and red sea bream looks delicious! It’s been years since I’ve had kamameshi. It’s a gorgeous combination of large fillets of golden-eyed snapper and red sea bream, along with plenty of other toppings like koyadofu, kamaboko, mushrooms, and potatoes. After pouring your first bowl, immediately close the lid, so it’s perfectly steamed and even more delicious. Then there’s the red miso soup and the smooth chawanmushi, which is about three bowls’ worth. The rice, infused with the broth from the ingredients, keeps you coming back for more. The fragrant crust is delicious , and I savored every last bite! Arriving at today’s lodging, it’s a little far from the station, about a 10-minute walk, but there’s a bus stop right in front. I decided on this lodging without even looking at the website, but it’s a wonderful hotel, and I was surprised to find it. We had a double room with a view of Mt. Fuji on the 10th floor, with a large TV! The table was spacious and comfortable, the bathroom was clean, and the rooms with a view of the Kano River seem to be a little more expensive . There’s a drink bar available only on weekdays. This hotel is apparently the only city hotel in Numazu, and the lounge offers a beautiful view of the illuminated Onari Bridge. The hotel faces the Kano River, which flows through the center of the city, and there is a wide promenade along the river. It’s a very pleasant place to stroll. The Kano River at night flows majestically from the center of Numazu city to Suruga Bay. I plan to get up early tomorrow. Good night… It’s now 5:30 AM, and there are no buses available, so I’ll take a taxi. Thank you to the driver for coming so early! I unexpectedly found out I could see the auction, so I decided to actually go and see it. The place is bustling with activity from early in the morning! Before dawn, there were many related vehicles coming and going outside. I was fascinated by this scene, which I’ve only seen on TV. The many fish that had been landed were brought in one after another. I thought it would be more noisy, but it wasn’t, and it looked like they were carefully examining them. They were sorted by size. Are they shrimp or crabs or yellowtail ? I usually only see fillets, so I’m not sure how much they weigh. They’re huge! : Skipjack tuna, mackerel, horse mackerel, and other fish caught in Suruga Bay, near Izu, are landed here and shipped all over the country. I can see saury, which is in season now. Is that horse mackerel? Numazu Port has a large catch of horse mackerel, and dried fish is a specialty . The backs of the fishermen working from early in the morning are reliable and cool. The fish that were auctioned off are carried out, and the serious exchange between the buyers is impressive . It’s flat, so maybe a flounder? What is that fish that is as tall as an adult? I’d like to know. It would be even more fun if I came to see it with someone who knows about fish. I’m impressed by how carefully the fish are handled. Quality is maintained through such careful work processes. Before I knew it, the fish were lined up in an orderly fashion. This is where fresh fish arrives in stores and on our tables… Thank you. When I went outside, the sky was beginning to lighten slightly . The auction seems to take place from around 5pm to 7pm. This is another stage, different from Numazu Port, which is bustling with tourists. I was also able to see Mt. Fuji bathed in the morning sun… I felt like I got a bargain! Numazu Port Large Observation Water Gate “Viewo” The port begins to move with the morning glow It was an experience to feel that moment I returned to the hotel on the first bus and took a short nap I had breakfast at a coffee shop near the hotel Daniel, a coffee shop that has been in business in this area for about 50 years
Regular customers kept coming in One after another I ordered a mixed sandwich and coffee It came with a banana It was a sandwich with five kinds of ingredients that you could tell were carefully made The mayonnaise and a little mustard made it even more delicious The owner’s sense of distance was just right It was comfortable… If it was in my neighborhood I would love to go there Thank you for the meal A coffee shop like this It was a 5-minute walk from the hotel I visited Maruko Sengen Shrine Maruko Shrine is the guardian deity of steel and Sengen Shrine is the guardian deity of matchmaking, safe childbirth and child-rearing Apparently, two separate shrines were merged to form a rare shrine with “one door, two shrines” I wanted to give thanks for coming to Numazu so it was helpful that it was close by In the offering box there was Each crest This is my second time at Numazu Port today This is a dried fish specialty store where local horse mackerel is opened The fish I saw at the auction are processed and lined up in the storefront A delicious, appetizing smell wafts from the grilling area next to my favorite golden-eyed snapper store Suruga Bay is Japan’s deepest sea aquarium and attraction, and you can learn about the charms of Suruga Bay A pudding inspired by the deep sea Blue jelly with a soda flavor There are so many seafood restaurants that it’s hard to choose but I’ll have lunch at this restaurant I was thinking about fried horse mackerel but this visual made me want to go in… The staff are cheerful and the restaurant is very pleasant I regret not trying the raw whitebait later… It was quick from the time I ordered until it was brought out “Matsumae pickles to accompany the ochazuke” “Finally, ochazuke in golden-eyed snapper broth” A sparkling seafood bowl I went for the “Yontetu” (four iron) which, in addition to the main “fish of the day”, also comes with sea urchin, salmon roe, scallops and red shrimp . There are also tuna, salmon and small shrimp hidden inside I dissolved all the wasabi and it ended up being too spicy. It’s been a while since I’ve had my favorite sea urchin . It’s sweet and delicious! Apparently , Numazu Port receives fresh seafood from other fishing ports. Every ingredient is fresh and incredibly delicious! There’s a guide with photos on how to eat it. I like sashimi, so I left a little and enjoyed it with ochazuke (rice with tea). In this season when the sea breeze is cold, steaming food warms both body and soul. The splendid broth from the golden-eyed snapper had a salty and savory flavor, and I absolutely loved the ochazuke! I think it’s important that the broth is piping hot. Ah… It was a delicious and very satisfying seafood bowl! There’s also a restaurant serving freshly fried horse mackerel , and there’s so much Numazu Port cuisine you can’t get enough of ! I found a restaurant that serves tamagoyaki (rolled omelet) I’ve been wanting to try. I was looking for tamagoyaki (rolled omelet) with green onions. The drums in front of the store were on the table. The warm, sweet tamagoyaki felt like a little snack. It was so much fun… I really enjoyed it. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal! To the right of the fishing port is the mouth of the Kano River. There is a ferry dock nearby, which operates on weekends. View of the inner harbor. Outside the inner harbor is the outer harbor where large ships are moored. Towering between the outer and inner harbors is the large observation sluice gate “Byu-o” which was built to prevent tsunamis from entering. It is usually popular with tourists as an observation facility. If you take the elevator from both banks, you will reach the observation corridor which you can walk around, and the observation corridors are connected by walkways. Let’s try climbing up right away. For the reasonable price of 100 yen, you can climb up as many times as you like on the day ! Wow! High, but a great view. You can also see the Kano River. The gate body that blocks out tsunamis weighs 406 tons, the largest in Japan! It is said that the port will automatically close completely about 5 minutes after an earthquake occurs. It’s interesting to be able to watch the fishing boats entering the inner harbor from above. It’s also a great spot to see the sunset over Suruga Bay
. The fishing boats return one after another after fishing. Numazu Port Entrance Park, lined with pine trees, has a sparkling sea surface that is so beautiful it takes your breath away. I had given up on seeing the sunset because of the cloudy weather, but now I’m able to. Viewo is open until 8pm, so the night view is sure to be spectacular. I’ll finish my Numazu trip with a beautiful sunset burned into my memory. Thank you for watching.
