Pokhara, Nepal: The One Day I’ll NEVER Forget
I didn’t know what to expect from Poker Nepal.
But one day here completely shocked me. What started as a peaceful day was anything but.
Boats, monkeys, hiking, forests, famous sites, local life, temples, mountains, and more. Today
isn’t just views of the Himalayas and Annapurna range. Explore the World Peace Pagoda, cross
view a lake by boat, experience the Sarangkot, and get ready for surprises along the way. This
one day in Pokhara gave me more than I expected. We are locking up our room and it’s nearly time
to check out. The time is 7:20 in the morning and we woke up this morning with all of the
very beautiful, beautiful Nepali songs [Music] in our heads. Good morning Sabrina this one off
with please. Yeah, come join up earlier. Come join. I need in the other bag. That is one thing
they have been amazing about. We put our luggage out and it’s taken care of for us. And um I’m
I’m amazed that the the folks are so strong. They must have really strong legs and arms, strong
core. They they haul all of that luggage um up the shuttle to us. Hey, and um what else can I tell
you? Um yeah, we woke up this morning with all of the very beautiful Nepali songs running through
our heads. And today uh we are going to go to a place I’ve read a lot about. I’ve researched and
it is world famous. The big thing will be whether I can make it up the hill. Oh my god. To get
there, cuz we are in for another hike. Are we sore from yesterday’s hike? Yes. But are we ready for
today also? Yes. So, it’s going to be a good one. That’s a good That’s a good hubby. When wife drops
little camera baggie, he goes all the way down and all the way back up. I will say yesterday we kind
of um we opted to forego dinner and um we were so full from that great lunch. We had a whole grilled
fish. We’re so full from that we opted to forgo dinner. So this morning we were hungry and um we
also got a lot of sleep. I think we went to bed at like 8:00 p.m. So that was really nice. It’s
really good. So breakfast time. Wow. Excellent. Yeah. Bravo. Bravo. This is very
good. Oh yeah. And that one. Oh, thank you so much, Tanya. Thank you. Also, weather was good today and going
leaving Sarangkot tonight and maybe tomorrow has a nice view. Thank you. Thank you. I
hope maybe we see again in future. Yeah, I hope so. Yes. Thank you. Namaste. A I think we got heavier. Yeah, we
got we got heavier than eating, right? You enjoy breakfast? Good. Good. And looks
like you have a new accessory. Uh the vermilion. The new Vermillion. Uh, my third eye. Your
third eye. That’s right. That’s right. [Music] [Music] All [Applause] right. So, 40 minutes. Cool. Will we be coming back to this point?
Cuz that was a good sign and I missed it. I don’t know. There’s a monkey right there.
See? What? Oh my goodness. There’s a monkey. How exciting. So earlier that used to be the
road that we used to walk in. Really? This this bridge is barely a year old. Oh my goodness.
We had to cross that that bridge. Oh. Oh. Is that the one that the lady was like? No, no,
no, no. Oh, no. It was something else. Okay, we’re only 2 seconds in and I’m already really
distracted. The distractions have begun. like my ADHD is like, “Okay, I’m going
to try to stay focused. I promise.” But there’s so much cool stuff.
Namaste. Little did I know this was only just the beginning. After
a short drive to Pokhara Damside, we began the hike. A That’s a beautiful
one. This one. Oh, this one looks intense. I’d be nervous if I met him at
night, but he’s friendly. [Music] Our world changing from lakeside vistas to
lush green hills. But this isn’t just a hike. It’s a look at local life with some unexpected
surprises. So, we’re starting out our journey today. And as mentioned, we’re going to a site
that I’ve researched and heard a lot about. It’s definitely world famous. And already we’ve seen
goats, monkeys, dogs, and it’s a beautiful day. Again, we’ve been blessed with really wonderful
weather. And oh, there’s a lot more monkeys ahead. Beautiful weather. Okay, this is exciting. Um,
and the instructions that we’ve been given to is not to lean on any trees. Actually, don’t
lean on any trees. If you come out this way, um, there is a sap, but that can make you
quite itchy. So, I guess I’ll turn it. The focus is definitely the monkeys at the moment.
So, I’ll turn this way. There’s more monkeys. So this one for um is it NDR? My little baby. Wow.
Little baby one. That’s a baby. Oh my goodness. I’ll push Michael in front. A whole bunch of kind
of freak me out. Follow the leader. Oh my gosh. You like monkeys? No. I was in Thailand. Not
even a little bit. They freak me out so bad. Keep a distance. From a distance, it’s great.
Yeah. From a distance. Namaste. Most people come this way for views of the Himalayas. All
the water. Me, I was mesmerized by the people. Don’t want to take water home, right? So, we
we learned actually today too that um a lot of the homes don’t don’t have their own water,
although some do. Um and that uh yeah, our guide, he has created his own kind of special tank to
to give himself um fresh, clean, good water. And it kind of activates when the pump will will turn
on and and deliver that. And we also learned that um uh they use liquefied it was L LPG I think. Um
so kind of like that’s a gas source. Same he says he gets it from the same source place as the
water. So um yeah local living how you doing? Good. I guess a little late because I was filming
uh people lining up for water. Yeah. Goat being sacrifice. The smell that you smell back there
was Well, not sacrifice. It’s more like a cooking. Yeah. Slaughter. Got to eat, right? Yeah. And
the smell that we’re smelling was goat hair. Oh, okay. Nice. Oh, yeah. Love a good goat
hair. Yeah. In the morning, especially. Today is Saturday and we learned that actually
Saturday is the one day that the local people get off. Sunday is a day of work. You start
on Sunday. And as Pete was saying, yeah, you can really tell like there’s an excitement and
energy. The city below it feels like a day off, you know. Um, people are out and about and we were
told that actually the lake we’re going to go to could be uh quite busy. So hopefully we’ll get the
chance to rub shoulders with some local folks out on their day off. Namaste. Namaste. Welcome to
the Thank you. Namaste. Namaste. So far the show has been up and down. um stairs in the beginning.
Uh got a guardian dog that’s been following us, so it’s kind of nice. You want to walk with
us now? A the doggy is really like I really like uphill. Um but yeah, it’s been pretty
easy. A little warm at the moment, but yeah, it’s warm. We’re we’re really lucky to have good
weather. And I love uh the good thing about coming in dry season is there’s no bugs. No bugs, but
little dusty. True. Tradeoffs for all things. No bugs, but a little a little dusty. Is that where
we’re going? Wow. We made it. Not the one with the one with the Oh, we’re here. Wow. And there’s
Wi-Fi. No, just go to San Marino. San Marino. No, that’s a that’s some place to go to northwest
northeast. Oh, we made it. So, you can see and uh behind me actually. Wow. You can see a
couple stupas. I think that might be our final stop way up that way. And um maybe it’s not.
We’ll see. I guess we’ll see where we’re going. Good thing we have a guide, right? Otherwise,
I’d get lost. Wood. All right. And covered with a leather. Okay. That’s the standard one, but
this is decorative purposes, so it’s got a bit of thin glass. Okay. We took a short break and our
guide told us about the kukri, the curved blade carried by the legendary Gurkha soldiers of Nepal.
It’s not just a weapon. It’s a symbol of bravery, protection, and resilience. He then did something
completely unexpected. He gave each of us our own kukri knife. It serves as a powerful reminder.
This place feels gentle, peaceful, but the spirit behind it, like the kukri, is strong, grounded,
and unshakable. So it’s just like the metal off of the spring of a car. It’s like iron. It’s kind
of funny that you do this before the piece of sand. Armed with our new piece of Nepali history,
we kept moving to our next stop. A place people travel from all over the world to see. That was
nice. So far, this stay in Pokhara has been full of surprises. We’ve climbed through forest trails
and at every turn we learn more about Nepal. It almost doesn’t feel real. Birds chirping,
friendly trail dogs. Oh, this one. Welcoming locals and wind moving through the trees. Wait
till you see the view. Every now and then the Himalayas appear between the branches. Wow. It
forces you to slow down. Not just physically, but mentally. The people we’ve passed are
peaceful. Wow. That’s pretty. Namaste. In a way I didn’t expect. In a way that feels so different
from home. We’re all carrying our knives. And as we keep climbing, I can feel. We’re getting
close to something special. But shockingly, this journey is only just beginning. We’re all
bringing knives to the peace pagoda. We’re armed. We armed with the combat wombat. Yeah. Wow. You
don’t take any videos. Yeah. [Music] Welcome to the Peace Pagoda. I always take pictures
of these so I know where I’m going. Right. Stunning. Really stunning. We near the high point
of this morning’s hike. And I’m trying not to rush it. There’s something special about approaching a
place gradually, feeling it before you see it. And that’s exactly what happened next. It’s so cool.
[Music] Take off our shoes. Oh, do we? Yeah. Oh, okay. Okay. You aren’t allowed to film. You
can’t do Tik Toks. You can’t talk too loud. And you must take off your shoes. But trust
me when I say this place is worth the visit. What I felt here was so unexpected. A calm I
have never felt in my life. The world peace pagod or shanti stupa is a spiritual retreat.
A Buddhist monument with four images of Buddha facing four directions and views of Annapurna,
Fewa Lake, and beyond. One thing was clear, it wasn’t built for spectacle or crowds. It
was built as a reminder. A reminder the world needs now more than ever. A reminder that
peace is something we create step by step, breath by breath. No noise, no urgency,
no pressure. Just the sense that the world could be softer and that maybe we have
more control over that than we think. [Music] I know what a beautiful place. We were not to
film there, so we’ll include all our photos, but the feeling and the energy is just so chill,
very zen, and um relaxing. It’s beautiful to see people walking cl counterclockwise or no
clockwise, clockwise. And um just really nice. We learned a lot there. and definitely
inspired me to go to more similar places. [Music] You’ve been up, you’ve been down.
Your roots are coming off the ground. We’re rewarded with the most lovely, lovely view.
Absolutely stunning. This makes every step well worth it just to come and see how beautiful
it is. You can see incredible distance away. So, I’ll uh I’ll turn to the view
so everyone else can enjoy, too. [Music] Troubles coming on the way, but you can still walk them through. It’s all
we do. The world is waiting for you. [Music] Oh, sorry. A How you doing? My nose running.
It’s beautiful here. It’s really cool. Honey, no. I really love this place. It’s absolutely
stunning. Very cool thing to do. You could do the reverse of what we did and maybe take the boat
here and then go all the way up to the temple. That would You could probably do the reverse
and that would be a lovely walk as well. [Music] Number one, [Music] world champion boats. Wow, I like the music. Now all we need is a beer. [Music] Thank you. Yes. Very good. Thank you. Thank you.
I was shocked by what happened next. Growing up, my mom told me, “Never show
up somewhere empty-handed.” today. That advice came in
handy. Oh, she’s me. Oh, yes. Hi. We could do a namaste. Namaste. Yeah. A
Oh, yeah. Sure. Yeah, of course. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Of course. Like this. Oh. Oh, this one too. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Wow. It’s good. I have a gift here. This is
for you. This is me. Me. Uh YouTube. For you. Yeah. For you. For you.
Yeah. Yeah. For you. Yeah. No, you don’t have to wear on this shirt. You’ll
ruin the shirt. But for you. Oh, but it will ruin your shirt. Just keep it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Cuz I don’t want to ruin your your beautiful top. Wow. My new friend. Oh, very good. Very
good. Yeah. This is um my husband. This together we are. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Wonderful. Thank you. Oh, very fun. Very fun. Oh, yeah. There. Okay. Yeah. That’s me um
on YouTube for you. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. All of the band, right? Wow. Beautiful. I think we’re in a more uh maybe like local
sleeping one. I am like a circus clown really. The circus is in town today. Hey lady. Oh
wow. Oh, it’s a pani puri. See? And then you has tea for sale. Did you see? Yeah. She’s
carrying the cups and the There’s so much pani puri here. You could eat all the pani puri. It
might not be safe for you at all. You’re good, too. Here, sir. Good lad here. Oh, uh, maybe
later. Okay. Thank you. Thank you, dhanyabad. A temporary tattoo. That does
sound actually quite nice. Yeah. Can you imagine? I’m holding
up the whole group because I’m getting a temporary tattoo. Where did
we go? Boomerang. Boomerang. [Music] You like I I like Morocco. I do care for the
food. Malai is cream. Malai. Yeah. Malai is called cream. Okay. Is that only open? H this vertical.
So it goes inside. Even this naan goes inside. So this look like a thousand I mean 100 and that’s
I think that’s only rhino baby rhino. Rhino tiger. Wow. Show me that. Do you got a snow leopard?
I think I got a snow leopard. Thousands and thousands. No, I don’t have a snow leopard. I got
an elephant. And there’s a yak. I think that’s a yak. I like the yak. She’s got Indian money.
Oh, here you go. That’s a snow leopard. Oh, I love that one. That is really cool. So, that’s
a 50. The snow leopard. That’s my favorite. What a wonderful meal. Oh my gosh. A meal like that is
just good for the soul. The company is amazing. You really can’t beat it. I just I can’t put words
to how yummy everything is. And the the flavor, the spice. It’s just there’s no other way to
say it but good for the soul. Just just amazing. Yeah. Hello. Oh, you give me the 5 minutes. I’ll
make you very nice. Oh, I’m so sorry. We’ve only been given just 2 minutes. I’m studying. Only 5
minutes. I will showcase it though. Okay. So, for anyone who’s going to come to pokra, I just want
to What is your name, sir? Uh my name is Sambu. Sambu. Sambu. Oh my goodness. And look at the
beautiful work that he does. making very nicely for the henna you know and I whatever like you
you see very nice nice work you know I’m making very beautiful yeah very you can just make the
smaller one you know that one is a souvenir from poker you know and uh I’ll making very quickly
just give me the 5 minute 2 minute like that you know I’ll making very nice from here to here and
not expensive for you you know it is amazing we’ll we’ll advertise sincerely to anyone again who’s
in poker his placement is right located over here, the yellow sign. And he does, as you can see,
amazing work. [Music] This is fun. This is really gorgeous. Do you want to go out through the
heart? Oh, the doggies are so sweet. Maybe behind [Music] Wow, the beautiful flag. Amazing place. Very dreamy. It’s really dreamy.
So, it sounds like there’s this side and then we’re going to go through cuz there’s a whole
another side to check out. So, oh my goodness, we don’t have nearly enough time here. So, we are
to be back meeting the group at 4:55 and the time is 4:10. So, yeah, we we’re going to have to come
back. Perhaps the best way to do that will be to maybe move closer to this part of the world and go
from there. What a beautiful place. German bakery. How interesting. And they have shoes, shopping,
clothing, lots of jewelry. I wonder how long this stretch goes on for. Are you in the market for
anything? No. Seal. That’s exciting. Photoshop, dress, pizzeria. They have everything. Do you
need anything in particular? No. Nothing? No. I’m always on the hunt for gems and jewels. Oh, so
not too many gems and jewels. I think one thing I literally cannot get over. We have now been to
over 50 countries. Just the hospitality of the local people in Nepal is wild. It’s so good. You
will feel so welcome. Everyone is so warm. They are so friendly. It’s a whole different ball game,
whole different world. Really amazing. It’s just so incredible. Well, can I go see the necklace
though? Sure. Okay. Is that okay? Okay. Namaste. Wow. Namaste. Namaste. This is fitting. Okay.
You have to help me though. What catches your eye first? Cuz there’s so many. Like maybe like that
or more colorful like that. So you’re like solid color. There’s more. This look there is more.
Do you want a keychain? No. Okay. Or the thingy. Oh wow. You see like this very nice. Yeah. They’re nice. How much?
1,500. 1,500. You try which color? I have so many color. So many. It’s like a rainbow.
Wow. Those are really stunning. And there’s more down there. Yeah. Look at all the knives.
Oh, right. We learned. Oh my gosh. And look, did you see all the singing bowls? Yeah. Wow. So many
actually. So, can I show you something? See here? So look, basic trust then.
And then ooh, it’s neat. [Music] Oh my gosh. Wow. Baby, you really
have to put your ear. Go. Feel it. Feel it. Oh yeah. Wow. Wow. It’s really neat. And very long lasting sound. And you
play multiple sound one time. Oh. So like Wow. Amazing. We have a really small
bay. What’s the smallest one? We have more small answer. [Music] Wow. There. Wow.
That is amazing. And uh how much is this one? 55. Okay. So, one like this is 55. You feel
it? All part is hammering. Oh my gosh. They like really like seven metal combination and
made this one. Wow. [Music] Ooh, it’s really nice. It’s really nice. This is beautiful.
Yeah, this is cheaper. Cheaper. Cheaper. Sounds good too to me. Still sounds good, but different sound. You saw my hand. I saw
you one thing. Both hand cut your palm. Your palm. Uh-huh. Where are you from? Oh,
it don’t turn this other side. Sorry. This is only for the sound. But this is
for the sound healing meditation. Oh, you’re right. This one the vibration continues on
like longer. How much is this one? The calculator is good. 4250. This one 5500. 55. put one of
the stick and one kan also I give you and then the mantra. Yeah. Wow. This is amazing. We have
a group with us. There’s a group of folks. So, we’re going to tell we’ll tell them to come
because I know there’s a lot of people that were looking for this exact. So, now I can tell
them the difference. This is wonderful. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Wow. Thank you.
Thank you. Thank you, dhanyabad. Wow. Yeah, dhanyabad. Wow. You come back, we’ll make
a good price, please. Yeah, that would be wonderful. Thank you. Thank you. And now we
know the price. We know the quality. It’s good. Wow. Yes, nice. We have this
one, but it’s good. Wow. Okay, we have um we have 30 minutes. Hey, I think we
should ask Ray about the bowl. Like a good price. Handmade though. So like there’s that. We do know
what a good price is for a t-shirt now just from like our time in Kathmandu. All of these earrings
look to be 200. That’s a good price. Maybe this is the more Yeah. 800. Yeah. 8 800. Yeah. The
one which you like is good. This is nicer. It is nicer, right? But this is still nice. 800.
It’s for yourself. Yeah, just for me. Yeah, you you you have to have like this one. Yeah, it looks
really nice. 1,500. I have to ask him. Yeah. Oh, you are the boss. No, you’re too sweet. You’re
too sweet. 1,000. 1,000. What? What do you have? 1,000. 1,000. Yeah. It’s a good piece. That one
is the prettiest, I think. Yeah. 1,000. 1,000. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. It’s really pretty. Do you want
anything? No. Thank you. Ooh, I like this. Wow, that is cool. This is really neat. Okay, we might
have to walk around. And what is your name? Great to meet you. Jodie. Jodie. Jodie and Pete. Nice to
meet you. Oh, great to Wow. Oh, there’s even more, too. Oh, okay. Oh, yeah. This is the one I think
I like. Wow. Oh my gosh. It’s like even like just the red is nice too. Babe, can I ask between what
I have chosen or just Oh, no. It’s really thick. Never mind. It’s a bunch, not just one. I like
kind of the only one piece. Single is nice. Yeah, but I can make it if you want. Oh, no. I
wouldn’t. Yeah, I wouldn’t have you like No, it doesn’t take much. 5 minutes. Oh, no. It’s
okay. It’s too beautiful. No, I’ll stick with the That’s okay. So you don’t have to Wow, look
at the masks. What a cool place. Thank you. Wow. Oh my goodness. There’s everything here. Wow. You
guys from where? Uh Thailand. Thailand and Canada. Oh my gosh. Where do you get it? From different
places of Nepal like from mountain part of the Nepal especially where people cannot you know
reach out. Yeah. Like we call it from there. Mostly it takes 2 days by walk. Wow. And what is
the name of your store? Portal to get in. Okay. Wow. It is beautiful. Like your first time in
Nepal? First time. First time. But I hopefully not our last time because yeah, we don’t have nearly
enough time to see like everything. It’s like this museum. Yeah. It’s like a kind of a small
museum. Yeah. Yeah. This is for you. Thank you. I guess this Yeah. Thank you.
Thank you. You have a great day. Thank you. Thank you. Just like
that. Time to go home. [Music] And we do have spa services and u laundry services
as well as uh you we do have the lounge bar on the top sixth floor. You can uh take the view of
sunrise if you want from there and sunset too. Uh in the morning time we usually keep the
tea coffee you can take by the by your own uh I think that’s all. And for
your breakfast in the morning uh it will be started by 6:30 till
uh 9 in this restaurant. Oh good. Thank you. Thank you. Ooh. So we just got our
rooms and oh my goodness. Look at this view. It is stunning. And um yeah, I think honestly we
had such a full day today. We we hiked a lot. We had a gigantic lunch. We walked around Pokhara.
So I think I know exactly where we will be for the evening. We just have the perfect view. So I
think that is what we are going to do. But I will at least run you through the room very quickly
just so you can see exactly how amazing this place is. All right, starting at the entrance, we have
a really large wardrobe floor to ceiling. Inside there is a blanket and we have down here ironing
board. There’s a safe for your valuables, it looks like. Then we do have some complimentary water and
a kettle. Just below that there is a fridge and next to that some sandals which seems to be pretty
standard. We have this lovely little bird feature. And I’ll zoom out. Go into wide angle to really
check out the room. Stunning mirror to my right. And just look at this place. It is magnificent.
You have a desk, but who honestly is going to be doing any work here? Because undoubtedly you
will be distracted by this phenomenal view. It’s very cool. Over here, the bathroom,
which you can look right through. Wow. Get the romance started there. Let’s
go check it out. Heading inside. Ooh, lots of lots of amenities. Looks like we
got some towels, nice little hair dryer, and some very nice soaps, shampoos, shower cap.
And then there is that look through. Very awesome. Today has been full of surprises where every
view and every small moment remind you of why you travel in the first place. And honestly, I
didn’t expect this. The warmth of the people, the powerful stories, the incredible landscape, the
resilient strength of this place. Nepal has a way of creating peace within you long before you reach
the pagoda. As the sun drops behind the hills, I’m ending the day feeling grateful, humbled,
and excited for whatever tomorrow brings. [Music]

33:24 I’ll never pay more than 300 for that necklace. 1,000 is way too expensive for it, that's the tourist price. The seller is so happy and he doesn’t want the Nepalese guy (her husband) involved in the deal, lol. We should get these scammers off the street. What are the Pokhara guys doing?
20:50 The lady says you look like her younger daughter and is gonna show her the photo she took.
