Foglia (Lazio), Italy【Walking Tour】History in Subtitles – 4K
[Drone intro🌐] [Walking tour begins👣] […entering the old town…..👟and main square⛲] [Orsini Castle] 1 – 7
[📋🏺Brief History🏺📋]
During the construction of the Autostrada del Sole, archaeological remains were discovered beneath the village of Foglia, carved into the tuff cliff on which the town stands. 2 – 7
These remains belong to an ancient rock-cut necropolis, located near a historic ford of the Tiber River, once connecting Foglia with Poggio Sommavilla, the Treja valley, and Falerii Veteres. 3 – 7
At this site, a Faliscan inscription was found, known as Foglia a dictus sinistroso, carved on a slab of local sandstone using the Faliscan alphabet. 4 – 7
Most of the letters are 3.5 cm high, except for the sigma (4 cm) and the V symbol (3 cm), providing rare insight into ancient pre-Roman cultures of the area. 5 – 7
In the Middle Ages, Foglia became a fief of the powerful Orsini family. On June 15, 1478, a formal marriage pact was signed in Palazzo Orsini. 6 – 7
Pierfrancesco Orsini promised his niece Orsina in marriage to Bartolomeo d’Alviano, with a dowry of 4,000 florins plus 1,000 for clothing and adornments. 7 – 7
In modern times, Foglia was an autonomous municipality in 1817. It became part of Collevecchio from 1827 to 1853, and then of Magliano Sabina, where it remains today. [Church of St.Maria Assunta – *closed*⛪]

bel endroit ,et merci pour les explications en francais ,ciao RIC
Love it how beautiful
Hey Ricardo. Nice quiet village and one noisy dog. Grazie😊😊😊
That walk through Foglia felt like stepping back in time! 😊
This is a beautiful little town. Your drone footage helped to show us how tiny this town truly is 😅 but also showed us it’s charm and the beauty of the countryside that’s surrounding it.
It was a lovely walk. It looks like the weather was close to perfect that day!
See you in the next one! Have a great weekend.
Ciao Riccardo, nice tour of Foglia 😍🇮🇹Grazie
A little noisy by the motorway though
Happy Sunday to you 😊
nice. i like being able to identify the plants and the way they are planted. fun. i do a lot of walking around my own area also. i was thinking about the idea that most of italy is seismically susceptible as is california. probably most of new italy ie post ww2 is covered by some building and earthquake codes as is california. but the old towns you walk through from like 1200-1400 up to the early 1900's probably have no building codes. i am impressed with the condition these old historical cities you take us through as so well kept and maintained. happiness for the historical treasures italy cares for. and thank you for putting them so we can see them.
40 inhabitants, that's gotta be a record for your walks. It could probably accomodate a lot more though. Fascinating history for such a small town. I had to google «faliscan alphabet»! Great discovery Ric!
