【50代ひとり旅Vlog】与論島で静けさと癒しを探す1泊2日

I’m on a two-day, one-night trip to Yoron Island. I’ve just finished my trip to Amami Oshima and am currently on my way to my next destination, Yoron Island. There’s a separate travel video for Amami Oshima, so please watch it if you’re interested. Arriving at Amami Airport. My flight departs Yoron Island at 11:15. Let’s get excited by looking at the guide (^^). I have a little time, so I’ll take a quick look. Oh! They’re selling my favorite “Miki.” It’s the most expensive Miki I’ve ever seen. This Miki tasted like tofu and was delicious, but I might want to try a new flavor. Akakina Miki, 432 yen. Apparently, the staff at the shop are drinking this. The boarding gate seems to be on the second floor. It’s a little early, but I’ll line up. That’s it. I’ve made it through security. Akakina Miki is produced in small quantities, so it ‘s only available at Amami Airport’s shop. It’s made using the traditional “kettle cooking” method. It’s handmade , which is why it’s a little pricey. It’s delicious. It was thick and fluffy, with a slight sweetness. It was the most delicious drink I’ve ever had (^^). There’s a reason why things are expensive. This is definitely something I’d like you to try. That’s the plane I’m taking today. This is my first time on a propeller plane. Here’s a quick introduction to Yoron Island. Yoron Island is a small, remote island located at the southernmost tip of Kagoshima Prefecture, just north of Okinawa’s main island . It’s only about 23km in circumference, and it’s compact enough that it takes less than an hour to drive around it. Yoron Island is known as the “Island of Healing,” with its beautiful emerald-green ocean and white sandy beaches. Let’s see what Yoron Island is like! There’s no boarding bridge, so we walk to the plane. It’s impressive up close. This time, I reserved a seat next to the propeller. Exactly! It looks like we’ll be able to see some impressive scenes (^^). It looks like we’re about to depart. The plane is an ATR42. It was manufactured by a French aircraft manufacturer. It started moving, but the propeller rotation speed was still low. It stopped. We were waiting for a passing plane. We were taking off. The propeller looked like it wasn’t moving! I ‘d love to return to Amami Oshima. It’s a 45-minute ride from Amami Oshima to Yoron Island. You can see Okinoerabu Island directly below. The entire island is flat and blessed with farmland, 48% of which is farmland. It’s also home to 200-300 large limestone caves. Because lily cultivation is also popular, it’s also known as the “Island of Flowers and Caves.” Is that Yoron Island? It’s off course. Are we going around? This is my first time here, so it’s hard to get a sense of the geography. ^_^;. I’m passing by, so maybe it’s not. ^_^;. We’re almost there. Such beautiful water! The water is incredibly clear! Yoron Island is also known as the “Pearl of the Orient.” I’m mesmerized by the beauty of the emerald green. We’re almost landing . We’ve arrived at Yoron Island . The airport is simple and cute (^^). There’s no jetway. It looks like we’ll just disembark. It’s just around noon now. This is my first time on Yoron Island. Since it’s noon, I’ll go for lunch first. The simple feel is lovely. It’s just like the image of the movie “Megane” (^^). The hotel where I’m staying this time is also located. It was also used as a filming location for “Megane.” This is the plane I took this time. This is the plane I took this time. I looked it up and it says “Welcome, Thank You.” I’m going to a restaurant near the airport now. What a place! It’s an object with a resort feel. It reminds me of Greece. It has a nice atmosphere (¨̮). Time is passing slowly. The restaurant I’m going to now is Aoi Sangosho. I’ll eat mozuku soba here. The area was full of grasshoppers (><). It’s a three-minute walk from Aoi Sangosho. Actually, they’re not grasshoppers, but bearded spotted grasshoppers. They were in a swarm near the sugarcane. (ノД`) I was surprised at first, but I got used to them. (^^) I later asked the rental car guy, and he said that they calm down when a big typhoon comes. Is that it? Still further in. ^_^;. There it is! A blue coral reef. Let’s go. It ‘s so beautiful! Paradise Beach is right in front of us. The interior of the restaurant has a beach hut-like atmosphere. It has a nice local feel. (^^) As for the menu, soba noodles are the main dish. Gyoza seems to be a specialty, too. Here’s the drink menu. They also have shaved ice and other items. They also have a variety of condiments to change the flavor. (^^) You won’t run out of things to try. Oni sauce. Looks insanely spicy. (><) Chilled mozuku soba noodles 850 yen. It’s topped with a generous amount of mozuku seaweed. It’s like hiyashimen (cold noodles). Is this tsukiage? And it’s mokuzu noodles. The noodles are made from 60% wheat flour and 40% young mozuku seaweed. When I ate them, I could taste the subtle sea flavor of the mozuku seaweed, along with a hint of sweetness and a light acidity. The soup was light, bringing out the aroma of the mozuku seaweed. There was a huge amount of noodles. It reminded me of the ferry I saw on Amami Oshima. They must be heading to Okinawa. A change of flavor. I might want to change the flavor soon. There are so many condiments, it’s hard to choose. First, millet vinegar. This vinegar is made from sugarcane juice through natural fermentation. Adding it gives it a mellow acidity. The change of flavor was a great success. The ham was average. The amount of noodles was overwhelming. I might get bored of it halfway through if I didn’t change the flavor. I continued trying different flavors after this. It’s close to the ocean, so I could enjoy the view. I was able to enjoy both gourmet food and the atmosphere (^^). I also bought some souvenirs here. Mozuku soba. And the condiments mentioned earlier were also available. So let’s go see the ocean in Yoron for the first time. It was extremely hot that day ^_^;. We access Paradise Beach from behind the shop. I doubt there are any grasshoppers. Maybe there are. Wow. So beautiful! What kind of blue is that? Apparently sea turtles come here to lay their eggs. There are showers. The entrance is here! It feels like entering a cave. It’s super cool. But it’s quite narrow. Amazing. Yoron Blue. And there’s no one there. The sand is also so beautiful. Smooth. The foreground is emerald green. Then royal blue. And the farthest back is navy blue. It’s so beautiful. I wonder why there’s no one there. It feels like twilight. I’m overwhelmed by the overwhelming beauty of nature. The blue changes subtly. I could look at it forever. I want to spend my time relaxing here. There are so many more beautiful beaches in Yoron. I ‘m even more excited about my stay in Yoron. This time, I’m traveling along the classic route. Let’s go see the next one. It’s wrapped in plastic. What is it? Apparently , the “Bell of Love” is located here. There seem to be a lot of grasshoppers in the grass. I’ll stop here ^_^;. It’s so hot. It feels like 50 degrees Celsius. Next, I’m heading to Yoron Station. It ‘s about a nine-minute walk from the beach. It’s about a six-minute walk if you don’t go around the grasshoppers. Looks like I’ll turn here. This is a road where you’re sure to encounter grasshoppers. Hang in there, bird. I feel like the birds have no choice but to eat you. Is that it? Even though there’s no train on the island, there are tracks and a platform here. And there’s a sign with the station name. It really feels like a train is coming. This tourist spot is popular as “Japan’s southernmost station.” It’s a romantic place, reminiscent of a southern terminus. And behind it… is the station building. It’s so hot (><). There’s no shade, so this place is precious. I can’t just complain about the heat. I’m going to see the ocean. There are really no people here. It’s like swimming on a deserted island (^^). Should we head back to the airport now? I hate grasshoppers. If we rent a car, we won’t encounter them. If we go up those stairs, we’ll reach the observation deck. Ryukyu limestone. We’ll go along the grasshopper path. There are lots of them near the sugarcane. We’re back at the airport. I want to take a photo like the one in the glasses. Our pretend movie shoot was over. Our rental car pickup arrived. Yoron Island, Nankoku Rent-A-Car. This rental car shop was fantastic (^^). We moved around a bit to set up the camera. Now that we’re ready, let’s get going. This is the Passo we’ll be using for this trip. Our destination is Chabana Beach. It’s about a five-minute drive from the airport. This is the center of Yoron Island. Chabana Beach stretches out right next to the town of Chabana. There were Greek-style objects here, too. Yoron Town and Mykonos, Greece, established a sister city relationship on November 14, 1984. The water is a Mediterranean-blue, with many Greek-style buildings. Let’s climb up. The ocean is calm. From here, we can see Chabana Beach. It’s cloudy, so it looks like this. The water is so clear. It would be beautiful on a clear day. This was a very quiet beach. There’s a lot of dead coral on the ground. Climbing up here leads to Mykonos Street. Construction? Unfortunately, it was under construction. The building on Mykonos Street was designed with the cooperation of local residents and Mykonos architects. The overall theme is “The Island Connects White and Blue.” The chair! A king’s chair. It’s certainly a king’s chair. Architects really put a lot of thought into it. There’s a cafe nearby, so let’s go. It seems closed. CLOSED. It says it’s open, but looking at the back, lunch has already ended… Let’s come back tomorrow. CLOSED. Life jackets! Apparently they can be rented for free. Let’s go see the next beach. Our next destination is Udonos Beach. It’s right next to Chabana Beach. The road is quite narrow along the way. We’ve arrived. What’s it like? The name Udonos comes from the name of a settlement that once stood in this area. The atmosphere here makes me feel like I’m heading to a hidden beach. It was really beautiful (^^). Wow, this beach is also quiet. Apparently , this is a “hometown beach” for locals. I want to watch the sunset. I’m sure the sea here would be beautiful if the light was shining in. The sand is so smooth and feels great to touch. It’s about time to head to the hotel. Come to think of it, there aren’t any grasshoppers around here. Tonight’s accommodation is Yoron Island Village, the filming location for the movie “Megane.” It ‘s about a five-minute drive to Yoron Island Village. I wonder. We arrived at the hotel. First, we went to the front desk. Check-in was complete. The hotel was much larger than I imagined. There was a dog. He was hot and exhausted. That ‘s where the movie was filmed. Let’s go. This is it. The movie is playing in my head. There’s almost no film set left. There’s a table and chairs here now. The desk is definitely different from the one used in filming. There was a pension in the back. From the other side too. I saw the movie a long time ago. The images are coming back to me. I’ll watch it again when I get home. I’ll go to my room. Wow. The room was modern and stylish. You can see a little bit of the ocean from here. I’ll relax in my room for a bit. I ‘m going to take a walk around Yoron Island now . The dog is going to bed too. I’m heading to Yoron Folk Village. It’s around here. About 11 minutes by car. I’m sure it’s around here. Hoshizunaso is here. From the car window. This was also a filming location. It’s still open as a guesthouse. There’s a limestone cave. We’ve arrived. Another grasshopper. I wonder what kind of place it is. The cycads have died on Amami Oshima. But they’re fine here. Yoron Folk Village. The entrance fee was 500 yen. There’s a souvenir shop. I wonder if the house used to be like this. The owner used his own farmland here. This folk museum was built to preserve traditional Yoron architecture. The owner gave us a thorough explanation. We learned a lot about the tools used since ancient times. There was plenty to see, too. This is a rainwater collection device. A typical Okinawan-style house. There were many pots, but none of them were made in Yoron. This was a sugarcane squeezing device. The facility was quite large. The owner’s explanation was very informative. I think this is Oshimasode dye. Apparently, you can even try it yourself. We were served tea and sweets. We learned a lot about Yoron Island. For 500 yen, it was a great deal. It’s almost sunset. The sunset from Yoron Castle ruins looks beautiful. We headed to Yoron Castle ruins. Yoron Castle ruins are very close. About an 8-minute drive. It’s around here. You can see the castle walls. The castle was built by the third son of the Hokuzan King of Ryukyu, but construction was halted after the king’s death, leaving it unfinished. The Southern Cross Center is right in front of me. There’s a torii gate. The stone walls stretch for over 500 meters. Unfortunately, the Southern Cross Center is closed today. This museum is packed with Yoron’s history, culture, and nature. Yoron Castle Ruins is a Ryukyu-style castle ruin influenced by Okinawan culture. Built on a hill about 90 meters above sea level, it’s known for its spectacular views of the entire island . The walkways are well paved. The view is breathtaking! And the sunset. It’s energizing. The castle walls stretch out for quite a distance. The sunset and horizon are incredibly beautiful. It’s overwhelmingly majestic. It’s soul-cleansing. The view at dusk is said to be “Yoron’s most breathtaking view.” It’s almost dinner time, so let’s head home. That torii gate was Kotohira Shrine. I stopped at a supermarket on the way and bought some water. Food prices are comparable to those in Osaka. The sashimi looked delicious. (^^) This is Yoron’s main street. It’s the only traffic light on the island. I’m back at the hotel. I have a dinner reservation at the hotel restaurant. It’s “Tara,” which is right in front of me. Since it starts at 6:30, I head back to my room. I’ll use the JAL Pack option again. I could see the sunset from here, too. It’s ready! This is like an appetizer or appetizer. This time, the menu is mainly local cuisine. Here’s the drink menu. I decided on beer. Many of the dishes were slightly adapted from local cuisine. They all had a gentle flavor. The sashimi was whitebait tuna and flathead horse mackerel. The whitebait tuna was chewy and light with little fat. The island tofu was delicious. It had a texture similar to jimami tofu. Then came the cartilage tonkotsu. The cartilage itself wasn’t “crunchy” but rather ” soft and fluffy.” The sweet, rich seasoning was delicious. The grilled Spanish mackerel arrived! It was thick and filling. The food was lightly salted. It was fatty and delicious. The sweet soy sauce was also a nice touch. Then came rice and miso soup. The rice was served in a rice container, and there was plenty of it. Finally, we had “Petit Muchcha,” a Yoron specialty. It’s a traditional mugwort rice cake, and it’s packed with mugwort. It was a very satisfying dinner (^^). We returned to our room. Before that, we decided to take a look at the starry sky. While you can see quite a few stars with the naked eye, they’re hard to see in the video… My dog suddenly started barking. I was wondering what was going on , when an earthquake hit Akusekijima. I’m off to bed now. Good morning. The weather is nice again today (^^). I’m off to breakfast now. The venue is the same as yesterday, “Tara.” The setting is the same as yesterday. For breakfast, we had a standard menu and local dishes. It’s about time to check out. Now that the checkout is complete, let’s go. A final greeting. No interest yet? (><) I have a dog at home, too. He's just as capricious. First, we went to Terasaki Beach. Terasaki Beach is around here. About 7 minutes from the hotel. Oh! An Anywhere Door! There was an Anywhere Door right here. There was also a Doraemon bell. This is the Terasaki Beach parking lot. This is the restroom. The Tomai entrance. This was the filming location for the movie "Megane." It feels like a secret entrance. It's beautiful! The blue of the ocean, the white of the sand, and the silhouette of the rocks are lovely (^^). The beach is pure white, with fine sand. It feels smooth when you walk on it. I wonder if they filmed it here? Let's go to the other side. Apparently there are a pair of dragons. This area is paved. I fell... there seem to be fish around here. It's slippery, so I'll tread carefully. The horizon is beautiful. Surprisingly, there aren't many fish. They're not around here. Is this the area ? This area was an aquarium tank (^^). This is really it. The blue of the sea, the white of the sand, and the silhouettes of the rocks make a spectacular sight. Is this the filming location? I'm starting to lose my mind. But this was the perfect place for "Twilight." Twilight. This place is so nice. Perfect for lost in thought. Quiet. It's time to head back to the car. Is that a dragon? It looks like a dragon. Next, we head to the main event of this trip: the Yurigahama tour . The meeting point for the Yurigahama tour is Oganeku Beach. It's about 10 minutes from here. We arrived at Oganeku Beach. They asked us the name of the tour we were booking. Parking was free. We wanted to park in the shade. Let's head to the meeting point. By this point, we'd already changed into rash guards. That's a newly built complex over there. There's a cafe inside. Let's go. Wow. Emerald green. It's beautiful. I wonder where Yurigahama Beach will appear. Let's get closer. It might be the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. It's so clear. At the tour reception. The tour starts at 10:30. Today, we were on that cruise ship. We paid the captain later. This tour cost 3,800 yen. The boat was the type that allowed us to see underneath. Because the ocean floor was shallow, the propellers were scraping against the water. The ocean was beautiful. It felt amazing. Today was a perfect day for Yurigahama. I came here at low tide, but apparently the beach didn't appear... What a shame. I wonder why the water is so clear. A fantastic blue. The waves were slowly swaying. Perhaps it had something to do with the shape of the ocean floor. We could see Yurigahama. What an incredible crowd. As expected, the beach didn't appear . Let's land at Yurigahama. It was so beautiful it cleared my heart. We almost saw the beach, but... It's like a "paradise on Earth." I didn't expect it to be this beautiful. Inside, a cobalt blue world unfolds. Unfortunately, I didn't find any star sand. This is a place you should visit at least once in your life. I'll be back. I'll come back to see this beach again. Next, I'll go to Chahana Beach for lunch. The showers and changing rooms here were incredibly clean. I'm returning my rental car, so I'll fill up. I haven't driven it much, so it was cheap. Right in front of me is Yoron Island's only traffic light, the coastal road . It's open today because it's early. The restaurant is located right next to Chahana Beach. Lunch is primarily a cafe menu. The interior is reminiscent of a beach hut. It has a casual, relaxed feel befitting the seaside. Small items evoking the ocean are displayed all over the walls. As for the menu, they offer pasta, curry, toast, and pizza. The lunch menu is primarily cafe-style. They also have parfaits and hamburgers. The cheese hamburger set is 1,300 yen. It comes with a large cheese hamburger, salad , miso soup, and rice. The hamburger was classic and delicious. The homey atmosphere was nice too (^^). Finally, let's go to Chahana Beach. Unlike the first day, today is a beautiful day, so the sea is beautiful. (^^) It's emerald green. The weather really makes a difference. You can even see the fish swimming. Every single piece of scenery is soothing. It's almost time for my flight, so let's go. The rental car shop is right there. I'll be taken to the airport. A trip to Yoron Island. Soothed by the crystal clear sea. Relaxed island time. It gently melted away the hustle and bustle of everyday life. This small island is packed with great charm. I want to come back here to reset my mind. That's the kind of place I felt. Thank you for watching this far. See you in the next video! This time, I was connecting at Naha Airport. This is the Hyatt Regency Seragaki from above. I'd love to stay there again. And the ANA InterContinental. This is Manza Beach Resort. I had soki soba at Kuukou Shokudo. I'd love to come to Okinawa again.
