Relaxing Walk in Kiso Valley, Kiso-Fukushima | Nagano Japan

The Kiso Fukushima is the 37th post town from Tokyo on the Nakasendo. It is now and was in the Edo period (1603-1867), the biggest, most populous, and bustling town of the Kiso Valley. It was the location of one of the largest, most important checkpoints in all of Japan. But it was largely destroyed in a major fire in 1927. The area known as “Kaminodan” still retains the atmosphere of an old post town. The quaint winding alleys and the shopping streets give off a retro Showa-era feel. Enjoy the atmosphere of good old Japan!
