今回は山口県柳井市にあります誓光寺（せいこうじ）の紹介です。

浄土真宗の寺。（じょうどしんしゅう）
応仁（1467～69年）の頃に開基。第3世教願の代に白潟より移したと伝える。
江戸時代には柳井坊主職の地位をもち、大島郡、熊毛郡、玖珂郡に33余寺の末寺、末庵を抱えた。
本堂は正徳年中（1711～16年）の建立といわれている。
山門の前にイブキの仲間、ビャクシン雌株の巨木、境内にはヒマラヤスギの雌株がある。
This Jodo Shinshu temple was founded around the Onin period (1467-1469). It is said to have been moved from Shiragata during the reign of the third head priest, Kyogan.
During the Edo period, it held the position of head priest of Yanai, and had over 33 branch temples and hermitages in Oshima, Kumage, and Kuga counties.
The main hall is said to have been built during the Shotoku era (1711-16).
In front of the temple gate stands a huge female juniper tree, a member of the Chinese juniper family, and within the grounds there is a female Himalayan cedar.

Such stunning architecture and beautifully designed grounds. Seikoji Temple is truly a gem. Surrounded by lovely landscapes and rich history, it carries a deep sense of peace and tradition. The ancient trees and elegant temple structures make it a place full of character and quiet beauty.
