【飛騨高山旅行2】 飛騨高山グルメ&観光!宮川朝市 高山ラーメン 静寂の古い町並| 飛騨高山1泊2日 2日目

Good morning! It’s Day 2 of our trip to Takayama. Here’s the schedule for today’s journey. This video is all about Day 2 of our Takayama trip. You can find the video for Day 1 linked in the description below. At the end of this video, I’ll also share the expenses for Day 2 and the total cost of our 2-day trip. I hope this helps you plan your own trip! I woke up early to stroll through the Old Streets. Some people are already out taking photos. The streets are so quiet and peaceful in the early morning. I turned back at Nakabashi Bridge. On my way back, I took a different route. I walked back along the Higashiyama Walking Trail. Back at the hotel, I soaked in the onsen and relaxed for a while. After checking out, we headed to Miyagawa Morning Market. We plan to buy some food here for breakfast. A shop called Nichi-Nichi-Kore-Koujitsu. I’m getting some rice balls to-go here. Which one should I choose? We’re planning to eat by the riverside. For breakfast, we got the “Nikusui” set. They served it on a tray, which is really convenient. Taka-san chose a plum rice ball. It’s a small rice ball with a big plum on top. “Let’s eat!” “Mmm.” “The rice is so soft.” The rice balls are gently packed, so they’re quite soft. “Yeah! It’s delicious!” “Having rice balls for breakfast outdoors is great.” I got the brown rice and plum rice ball. “It’s tasty.” “The rice ball might fall apart.” “Nikusui soup.” “It has tofu in it.” “There’s a lot of meat in here!” “It’s Hida beef, for sure.” “The meat is absolutely delicious.” “The broth is similar to Osaka’s famous Nikusui.” “The beef is so incredibly good.” “Ahh.” “This would go great with rice.” What should we eat next? I spotted a pudding shop. NOIX DE COCO. This shop serves Takayama Pudding, made by a former pâtissier. “Our pudding is completely additive-free.” “The top layer is a bit firm due to the milk fat, and it gets softer as you go down.” “So don’t mix it—eat it layer by layer from the top.” There’s a bench right next to the shop, so we’ll eat it there. “Start from the top.” “Oh.”
“It’s quite firm.” “Mmm!” “This is so good! 💛” “The top is firm, and it gets softer in the middle.” “The egg flavor is amazing.” “So tasty! 💛” “I want to try the caramel.” “Mmm!” “It’s so cold and delicious!” “It’s super tasty!” Next up after the friendly and cheerful pudding shop… Mitara Dango Tocco. We got mitarashi dango and aburae gohei-mochi. “Let’s start with the dango.” “Mmm, just a hint of soy sauce flavor.” Takayama-style mitarashi dango with a savory soy sauce touch. “Alright.” “Now…” “This gohei-mochi has a flavor I’ve never had before.” “It’s not nutty…” “Not at all.” “Hmm? Could it be sesame-flavored?” “This gohei-mochi is so unique.” “Totally new.” It’s neither sweet soy nor nutty miso-based. The sesame flavor takes the spotlight with subtle sweetness and saltiness. I really like this kind of gohei-mochi too! It’s a must-try for gohei-mochi enthusiasts! Andersen. A shop specializing in croissants. We’re going to enjoy them on a riverside bench. “They look so crispy.” “They look delicious.” “Mmm!” “The chocolate is so good.” “This is amazing.” “Makes me crave some coffee.” “Mmm, so much chocolate!” Surrounded by the lovely aroma of butter, it’s absolutely delightful. Miyagawa Morning Market was bustling with food and traditional crafts for sale. So lively! Inpoen. A popular wagashi (Japanese sweets) shop. We waited in line a bit. Our goal was the Shofuku Nekoko Manju. They’re so adorable! 🥹 I brought home all five of them. 💕 Next, we’re heading to the Takayama Festival Float Exhibition Hall. The Takayama Festival Float Exhibition Hall is located within the grounds of Sakurayama Hachiman Shrine. Admission is ¥1,000 for adults. There’s also a free audio guide available. Enter a number from the board into the guide to hear explanations. Listening to the guide while viewing the floats makes it even more enjoyable. You can take a close look at the floats, which are usually only seen during the festival. The “Hida Takumi” (master craftsmen of Hida) sent over 100 artisans annually… …to the Yamato Court for around 600 years, contributing to the capital’s construction. There’s a massive, towering door here. Oh, it’s for moving the floats in and out. Seeing the floats up close was way more impressive than I expected. It made me truly appreciate the skills of the Hida Takumi craftsmen. The ticket also included entry to Sakurayama Nikko-kan, so we decided to check it out. The air conditioning inside was blissful—pure heaven! There were incredibly detailed miniatures of pagodas and shrines. According to the pamphlet, these were models of Nikko Toshogu Shrine, made in the Taisho era. It took 33 artisans 15 years to complete them. Once again, I was blown away by the craftsmanship of the Hida Takumi. Neko no Tsuki Sakurayama. A cat café housed in a renovated 130-year-old traditional home. First, you check in at the café and get an explanation. The café and the cat area are completely separate spaces. We booked a 30-minute session, got drinks, and bought some treats for the cats. Since I was barefoot, I also purchased socks (¥300). With socks on and disposable covers over them, we were all set. After washing our hands, we entered the cat room. Lockers were available to store our belongings. When having drinks in the cat area, lids were provided to prevent spills. Time to meet the cats! “So cute!” “Oh, it’s coming over here!” “Adorable!” “This one eats a lot.” “Wow! It just reached out with its paw!” “There, there, there.” “So cute!” “Adorable.” “So cute.” “Good kitty, good kitty.” “Good kitty, good kitty.” “So cute.” “It’s eyeing the treats.” “Here you go.” “Here you go.” “Huh? You don’t want it?” “Not interested, huh?” Cats living freely and contentedly in this old-style house. Did any of the cats catch your eye? You can check out adoptable cats on their website or Instagram. Links are available in the video description. Take a look! Time to head out for lunch. Tsuzumi Soba. I ordered the weekday special, “Staff Meal” Char Siu Ramen. Ah, I see. It’s a ramen cleverly made using offcuts of char siu. Looks absolutely delicious! The dark soup typical of Takayama ramen with thin, curly noodles. “It’s so light.” “The dashi flavor is strong.” “Tastes nostalgic.” “Let’s dig in.” “Mmm.” “The dashi is so flavorful.” Even the thin bamboo shoots are delicious. 😋 The soup-soaked char siu is packed in generously. “So these are offcuts of char siu, huh.” “So good!” This is classic soy sauce ramen that doesn’t disappoint. Dependably delicious Takayama ramen. Finally, I tried adding vinegar for a flavor change. “Ahh…” “Adding vinegar makes it tasty, right?” “Yep.” Next, we’re off to the Hida Takayama Retro Museum. Takayama actually has another similar facility called the Takayama Showa Museum. If you’re curious about it, check out the first day’s video. You can compare the two. 😉 We’re getting close to the Hida Takayama Retro Museum. “Huh?” “Oops, we’re at the back entrance. My bad.” Even though it’s the wrong side, it’s a nice photo spot. Now we’ve reached the front entrance. Admission is ¥800 for adults. You can even eat nostalgic school lunches here for ¥750. Is Alisa Mizuki just barely Showa-era? The place is full of nostalgic games. The Hida Takayama Retro Museum has many interactive exhibits. Pixelated rain makes it impossible to see ahead. LOL. “If anything breaks, please report it to the staff immediately.” “It says, ‘We won’t get mad (probably).'” (lol) Rows of nostalgic pachinko machines. “Got it!” (lol) I had a serious competition with Taka-san. It’s getting heated! I caught up to a tie! And now I’ve taken the lead! Just a few seconds left on the clock! Who’s going to win!? Taka-san launches an all-out attack and ties it! (lol) Yay! I won!!! I might have gotten a little too excited… Next, we visited a charming café I spotted during my morning walk. Falò Coffee Brewers. These snacks look so delicious… “Yum.” “Cocoa.” “What’s this?” “It has grains in it.” “It’s chewy.” “The chocolate flavor is so rich and delicious.” “It’s quite firm.” “Well, it’s a brownie.” “Ah, I see.” “The nuts…” “There’s so many in here.” “This is amazing!” “Wow! The coffee is strong.” “It’s a nice, deep roast.” “Let me try it after I stir it up.” “Yeah, it’s even stronger than Starbucks’ triple espresso latte.” “This is totally my kind of coffee.” “I thought so.” “It’s firm.” “Firmer than I expected.” “Mmm!” “Delicious!” “The crunchiness and…” “The not-too-sweet chocolate is just perfect.” “The generous amount of nuts is great, isn’t it?” “Yeah.” Thank you for the delicious treats! We’re here to try something in Hida Takayama that we haven’t yet had. Kinnokottegyu. It’s a sister shop of Kottegyu. They use the same ingredients as Kottegyu. We didn’t have to wait too long to get ours. We chose to eat it in the attached café next door. We picked seats with a view of the garden. “Let’s start with the ginger soy sauce flavor.” “Delicious!” “It’s so good!” “I want to savor this slowly.” “It’s that good, huh?” Alright, now it’s my turn to try. “Mmmm!” The lightly seared beef is absolutely incredible. 🤩 “The ginger adds a nice, refreshing touch.” Next, I’ll try the bamboo charcoal salt flavor. “Mmmm!” “So tasty!” “I can see why there’s always a line!” Next, we’re heading to Hida no Sato. There are two parking lots: the first and second. At the entrance, you pay both the admission fee (¥700 for adults) and the parking fee (¥300). They offer 20-minute, 40-minute, and 60-minute walking courses. Alright, let’s try the 40-minute course! Most of the stone statues here were made during the Edo period. Hida no Sato is an open-air museum recreating the old village life of the Hida region. From relocated traditional houses and tools, you can feel the essence of Hida’s culture. This large thatched-roof house is open for visitors to explore inside. If you climb the stairs, you can see the inside of the roof structure. Oh! I found Taka-san! There was a foot bath, so I decided to give it a try. It was too hot, so we gave up on the 40-minute course… And just like that, our fun trip to Hida Takayama has come to an end. Now, let’s reveal the expenses for Day 2 and the total cost of this 2-day, 1-night trip. First, the expenses for Day 2 were… And the total cost of our 2-day, 1-night trip to Hida Takayama is… Thank you so much for watching until the end! 🫶 See you on our next trip!
