「TravelAZ」 Review Lake Biwa, Shirahige Shrine, Ukimido One Day Tour from Osaka/Kyoto

[Music] The itinerary package was an excellent choice. Our guide Vivian was very kind. The only thing is that they changed guides at the last minute because 99% of the tourists were Chinese and would have liked a little explanation in English about each area we were visiting. Thank you. Guidewin Hua is amazing. He helped us take a lot of pretty group photos. Driver was also quite skilled and careful. Tour was great, but we got unlucky with the weather. Our favorite part of the trip was definitely the cake factory. Andy was very interactive and communicated travel plans as we went despite the language barrier. The tour itself was amazing and we loved being away from the busy city for the day. If you’re keen on a day trip seeing spots that you don’t even see on social media, this is the tour for you. The day tour is really worth it. We highly recommend. Our guide, Mr. O Yang Jing, is very sincere, friendly, and caring. My family and I did truly enjoy our time. Thanks also to the driver. He did a good job, too. Sanzen was the highlight of the trip. The entrance and time it takes to get there is well worth it. This day trip is a good way to spend a day if you’ve already explored the highlights of Kyoto, don’t have a car, and want to go further out without worrying about car rental. Extra point. All the places in the itinerary were unique and beautiful. The weather was perfect as well, and Andy, our tour guide, was very well organized and enthusiastic all throughout. It is very convenient to have a tour bus to pick up and drop off four scenic spots on this trip. The winter snow scene of Sansen in this beautiful Sherasu shrine, Shento shrine, emoji, and Msuji temple on the floating BW wall are even more popular spots. Lalina has gardens and lawns and the design of the main building complex is amazing. Amazing. Even though it is actually a bakery cafe doing business, the boss has I joined the Chinese tour group on February 20th and was lucky to meet the tour guide, Zach. From the moment we got on the bus in Kyoto, he carefully introduced the knowledge of the attractions along the way and shared his life experience. He also took appropriate care of the group members which added a lot to the trip. The winter trip will first go to Sanszen in temple. It is a very beautiful and shocking experience to encounter Sanszen in temple with snow. Then we went to Shyrahi Shrine to see the water Tory gate. Please note that the main body of the shrine is still under repair. So we will focus on checking in at the Tory gate. Considering lunch, we stopped at the 7 to 11 in front of the Tory gate. Next, we went to the itinerary was well arranged and compact. Fortunately, most of the group members were punctual. The tour guide’s explanation was also clear, which was good because it was not inclusive. There were no rest stops along the way, so there was no food to replenish. You can try to improve the route and it will be more perfect. It is worth noting that the this itinerary is very rich, including the lake to shy shrine, the refreshing scenery of Szin and Temple, the Aimedo Hall, where you can enjoy the beautiful lake biwa and the delicious fresh balukin. Finally, I would like to praise our driver and tour guide, Mr. Chen Wenban. He was very friendly.

Pre-trip notice: On the night before the trip, between 19:00 and 21:00, we will send you detailed guide and vehicle information by email, please be sure to check it in time.
Today we will go to 4 attractions in total, Biwako Shirahige Shrine-Biwako Observation Deck or Sanzenin-Mangetsuji Ukimido-La Collina Omihachiman, a fulfilling itinerary, starting now
– First stop: ⛩️ Biwako Shirahige Shrine, one of the oldest shrines in Omi Province. The shrine is famous for its unique water torii, which is like a mysterious door floating on the lake. In the early morning or dusk, the lake is calm, and the torii and the lake complement each other, forming a beautiful picture.
– Second stop: Biwako Observation Deck (August 9, 2024-November 4, 2024) The scenery here is excellent, as if the sky and the lake are connected by a line. Standing on the observation deck at an altitude of 1,100 meters, you can overlook the entire Lake Biwa 360 degrees without obstruction. The beautiful scenery is intoxicating. It is a great place to take photos and check in.
Sanzen-in Temple (from November 5, 2024 to April 15, 2025) Tendai-sensei Temple, spring cherry blossoms, summer hydrangeas, autumn maples, and winter snow, beautiful as a painting. The courtyard is covered with moss, ancient trees are towering, and the stone statue of Jizo is lovely. The sun shines through the branches and leaves, quiet and peaceful. Enjoy the scenery while tasting matcha and feeling the beauty of Zen.
– The third stop: Mangetsu-ji Temple Ukimido, standing on the shore of Lake Biwa, is an important part of “Katata Falling Wild Geese”, one of the “Eight Views of Omi”. This historic Buddhist pavilion is connected to the lakeshore by a stone bridge about 17 meters long, and the Guanyin Bodhisattva is enshrined in the hall. The surrounding scenery is picturesque, the lake is sparkling, and the quaint buildings complement each other. You can feel the strong historical atmosphere and tranquil Zen here.
– The fourth stop: La Collina Omihachiman, which cleverly combines natural beauty with dessert art. The “Grassroots House” in the park echoes the surrounding hills with its green grass roof. Architect Terunobu Fujimori used this to express his awe of nature. Here you can not only taste the exquisite Japanese and Western confectionery provided by Toraya, but also visit the production process of the annual ring cake. It is a secret place where people can find peace and healing in their hearts.
