【6泊7日宮城一周②】仙台グルメ食べ歩き!牛タン・ずんだ餅・ひょうたん揚げ【仙台・石巻旅】
On my last trip, I stayed at Pension Hidamari in Zao, where I soaked in the Togatta hot springs, which flow directly from the source, and enjoyed delicious Western cuisine made with Zao ingredients. The next day, I had Shiraishi’s specialty, Shiraishi Onmen, for lunch.Today, on the second day of my 7-day, 6-night trip around Miyagi, I stayed at Sauna & Capsule Cure Kokubuncho in Sendai City. From Yamabuki-tei in Shiraishi City, where I had lunch, I took National Route 4, which is about 50 km away, a 1.5-hour journey.I passed through Shiraishi City and entered Ogawara Town.Ogawara Town, which belongs to Shibata County, Miyagi Prefecture, flourished as a post town on the Oshu Kaido road, and the Hitome Senbonzakura cherry blossoms bloom on the banks of the Shiraishi River. The area is famous for its rows of cherry blossom trees called ” Senju-no-Yori” (Shinjuku-cho). The adjacent city of Iwanuma also has a history of thriving as a post town and is known as a key transportation hub in the Tohoku region. Finally, we enter Natori City, next to Sendai. It’s famous for the ark shells of Yuriage, and Sendai Airport is also located in Natori City. Finally, we enter Sendai City. It’s the prefectural capital of Miyagi Prefecture, and the only designated city in the Tohoku region , known as the “City of Forests.” It has developed as a central city in Tohoku since the time of Date Masamune. Arriving at our lodging, we are shown where to park. “D Parking KY Building PS No. 1” in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. It’s affiliated with Cure Kokubuncho, and parking is available for 1,000 yen for 24 hours. “Sauna & Capsule Cure Kokubuncho” in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. Check-in: 12:00. Check-out: 10:30 The capsule rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floors , but the rooms are only available from 15:00 First, put your luggage in the locker and head to the large public bath on the 5th floor. There is a huge open-air bath using germanium ore , a 90°C dry sauna, and a Korean-style sauna at 70-80°C. A 90cm deep cold water bath. Once you’ve relaxed in the bath and sauna, lie down for a while in the reclining room on the 4th floor. Having refreshed yourself, you can walk around the city of Sendai. Fortunately, the rain has stopped. Abe Kamabokoten Main Store, Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. The name “Sasakamaboko” comes from Abe Kamabokoten Main Store, the creator of Sasakamaboko! However, this time I tried the specialty, “Hyotanage.” There’s a dedicated shop for “Hyotanage” next to the main entrance. “Hyotanage” costs 300 yen. It’s a crispy batter with chewy kamaboko fish cake inside, and it has a great texture. It ‘s basically a kamaboko version of an corn hot dog, but it’s delicious! Back at the inn, I went to my capsule room, “3049.” Being a capsule, it’s naturally small, but it’s clean enough for just sleeping. It’s also equipped with a TV, power outlet, and Wi-Fi. In the evening, I went to eat beef tongue. It’s said that beef tongue first became available in Sendai during the postwar chaos, when Keishiro Sano, the first owner of “Tasuke,” invented it. It then spread throughout the country during the period of rapid economic growth, driven by people who visited Sendai for work or business trips. “Sendai Gyutan Taka” in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture , earned a Michelin Plate in the 2017 Michelin Guide Miyagi . Without hesitation, I ordered the beef tongue set meal. Apparently, the beef tongue is sourced from designated farms. The “Beef Tongue Set Meal (3 slices/6 slices)” arrived , 2,700 yen. Wow, what a visual! It looks delicious! The thick beef tongue is surprisingly tender, likely due to the use of a cut close to the core! The fragrant charcoal-grilled beef tongue pairs perfectly with rice! The Nanban miso, with whole green chili peppers, adds a nice accent. The gentle flavor of the oxtail soup is enhanced by the restaurant’s recommended chili pepper, which brings out the sweetness of the beef tongue . It was beyond my imagination! Thank you for the meal! It was one of the best beef tongues I’ve ever eaten. Feeling completely satisfied, I returned to the inn. The next morning , I checked out and left the parking lot. Today, I’m heading to Ishinomaki, but before that, I’ll have breakfast. I parked my car in a pay parking lot and headed to Endo Mochiten in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. Founded in 1948, the restaurant is bustling with activity from the morning. I was looking forward to the in-store-only menu, the “Zunda Mochi Tasting Set” (500 yen). Zunda mochi is said to have originated in Sendai. This restaurant uses freshly picked soybeans and green soybeans, which are boiled and flash-frozen. The edamame have a rich aroma, and the mochi is soft! I’m excited to try the other dish, the Gokumi Zunda, too. It feels like they’ve taken the Zunda flavor to the next level ! The Great East Japan Earthquake caused serious tsunami damage, and after this we went to see the Tsunami Memorial Museum. It’s definitely a place worth visiting at least once, so before that we had lunch at Fujiya Shokudo in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture. ” The Original Ishinomaki Brown Fried Noodles.” This restaurant serves Ishinomaki’s soul food, “Ishinomaki yakisoba.” The distinctive brown noodles are said to have turned brown when steamed twice. Another feature is that they are cooked in seafood broth, and at first you eat it without any sauce. “Special yakisoba (all inclusive)” 750 yen . Wow, it’s browner than I imagined. The special is topped with meat, egg, and vegetables. I tried it as is first. It was delicious , with a faint aroma of broth, and the noodles were delicious as expected. The soft -boiled fried egg was a delight. I tried the sauce here , and the noodles, sauce, and fried egg blended together to create an indescribable deliciousness. It was my first time eating Ishinomaki yakisoba, and it was great! Thank you for the meal. Finally, we headed to the Tsunami Memorial Museum, the main reason we came to Ishinomaki. It is located in the Ishinomaki Minamihama Tsunami Memorial Park .
