Ichikyu was founded in 1943 ( Showa 18), completely rebuilt in 1991, and renovated again in 2005 (Heisei 17) . The dining room and some of the guest rooms will undergo a major renovation in 2022. Today, Ichikyu has 19 rooms with spectacular ocean views, four floors above ground and one floor below ground, making it a private hot spring inn. In the summer, changing rooms and showers for washing off sand are provided so you can easily go to the sea right in front of you . Ichikyu is about 20 minutes from Tsuruoka IC on the expressway, or about 40 minutes by bus from JR Tsuruoka Station (no shuttle bus). Enter the building through the entrance with its charming logo. The water is colorless, clear, and odorless, making it comfortable to soak in. It’s a natural hot spring, but if it’s too hot, water can be added to adjust the temperature. There’s a wash area with a shower. The shampoos are POLA. The view of the Sea of ​​Japan from the large window is like a painting. 👍 You can see beachgoers on the beach. ^^ There’s a counter table, so you can work while admiring the ocean view. ♪ Renovated in 2022. The 6-tatami Japanese-style room and bedroom have semi-double twin beds. There’s a USB charging socket next to the bed. 👍 There’s a sofa and wall- mounted TV on the wall, a closet, and a bathtub basket. ♪ The plain face towels and face masks are perfect for women. ♪ I tried on a yukata (Japanese kimono). ^^♪ In addition to the original Ichikyu yukata, you can also choose colored yukatas. Dinner is at Naminotari, a dining room at the back of the first floor, which has an ocean view and was renovated in 2022.
