“Please refrain from boarding the train if you are not careful. The doors will close soon”. I’m heading out on a summer trip. This time, I’m going to Nagoya for two days and one night. Thanks to an ANA sale, a flight from Fukuoka Airport to Chubu Centrair International Airport cost ¥9,550. (For two people, it’s four times that amount.) Be careful, though, as security checkpoints can get crowded at domestic flights at Fukuoka Airport! (New equipment was installed last year, so it may have improved somewhat.) Fukuoka has beautiful weather. We departed safely and on time. We arrived at Chubu Centrair International Airport in about an hour and 15 minutes. Buchan from Yabaton greeted us at the baggage checkpoint. Chubu Centrair International Airport has an atmosphere reminiscent of an airport in a foreign country. Why? It’s currently 10:30 AM. Before heading to Nagoya, let’s have brunch at the airport. The sister restaurant of the famous Nagoya restaurant, Miya Kishimen, is located on the fourth floor. We’ve been there several times in the past because of its casual Nagoya cuisine and convenient opening hours of 9 AM. The seating is counter-style. As a Kyushu resident, the soy sauce soup is fresh. (In Japan, udon soups vary by region.) I also ordered a small miso katsudon (pork cutlet bowl). This restaurant serves delicious kishimen noodles, and I often visit here because it allows me to enjoy a Nagoya-style meal immediately upon arrival. After my meal, I headed to Nagoya. I took the Meitetsu train from Chubu Centrair International Airport. Express and semi-express trains operate from Chubu Centrair International Airport Station to Meitetsu Nagoya Station, but we recommend the μSKY, which requires a separate μTicket. For 450 yen per person, you can reserve a seat and enjoy the fastest 28-minute journey. A small ticket and a large ticket are issued, but please only use the small ticket at the ticket gate. There is a warning sign that says, “Do not use the large ticket!” Therefore, it is possible to purchase only the μTicket at the ticket machine and use a credit card to pass through the gate. Once on the train, please sit in the seat you selected on the machine screen. We departed. Chubu Centrair International Airport is an offshore airport, so you can enjoy ocean views for a while. It’s been a year since we last visited Nagoya. Come to think of it, it was also our first time flying this year. He seemed happy to be out of Fukuoka. The μSKY takes us nonstop to Jingumae Station for over 20 minutes. The next stop is Kanayama Station, and then Meitetsu Nagoya Station. We arrived in the area around Nagoya Station, commonly known as “Meieki.” We left our suitcases and headed to our hotel. Our hotel is Montblanc Hotel Raffine Nagoya Ekimae, a three-minute walk from the Sakuradori Exit. It’s not yet time to check in, so we’ll do it when we return in the evening. We’re so happy we’ll have less luggage! I was looking for a certain store at Takashimaya. I found it. It’s a costume jewelry shop I saw online. Apparently, their direct stores are only in Ginza, Osaka, and Nagoya. It was a rare opportunity to see the products in person, so I bought two necklaces. We had heard in advance that a new cafe had opened in Nagoya in August. It’s located across from Noritake Garden. Cafe Colmar is actually the second branch of Cafe Vincennes Deux, a popular restaurant in the Sakae area. The reason for Cafe Vincennes Deux’s popularity is, its gleaming golden apple pie! We first tried it at Cafe Vincennes Deux a few years ago. It was so delicious that we’ve been visiting it every time we’ve been to Nagoya ever since. We had planned to visit Cafe Vincennes Deux during our recent trip, but when we found out that the second branch had opened just a few weeks ago, we decided to visit Cafe Colmar. The cutlery is made by Noritake. It takes 20 minutes for the apple pie to bake. However, the restaurant itself wasn’t crowded, so we were able to get a seat right away. This apple pie is just as delicious as the original! We recommend adding vanilla ice cream, an optional topping, for an additional fee, to pair with the warm pie. “Why is it so delicious?” “It’s just as good as the apple pie at the main branch.” It’s a 13-minute walk from Nagoya Station. This is a must-visit for anyone visiting the Noritake area. We’re back at Nagoya Station. I’m searching for my next destination on the map again. Stations are so big in big cities. This is a capsule toy shop run by KENELEPHANT, a company that designs and manufactures miniatures. You might be thinking, “Why would I want to visit a toy capsule on a trip?” But like the jewelry shop, I feel that visiting stores not found in my hometown is one of the joys of traveling. Naturally, there are many toy capsules not found in Fukuoka. This is “Plush Doll” from umao. These are “Pokkoshi 2” and “Pokkoshi 3.” I hope they open a shop in Fukuoka someday! Let’s move on to the Sakae area. We’ll use the “24-Hour Subway All-Line Ticket.” We briefly stop by the Chunichi Building, which opened last year in the heart of the Sakae area. After that, we take a short ride to Yabacho, where PARCO is located. We take a look at the Pokémon Center, which we also visited during our trip to Hiroshima. (Please also watch the Hiroshima video.) Like the Pokémon Centers in Hiroshima and Fukuoka, Nagoya’s Pokémon Center recently relocated and reopened. While it looks like Nagoya’s famous Golden Shachi, it’s actually a golden Magikarp. Since it was summer vacation, the area was bustling with families with children. From PARCO, we headed toward Osu. That’s the main branch of Yabaton. It’s huge. This is YabaMisen. I’d like to go there someday, but it was closed on this day. Osu is a neighborhood filled with second-hand clothing stores. This store is located in a corner of Osu. ciatre has a cafe attached. Let’s take a break before browsing the apparel. It was a quiet time, so it was empty . If you order a drink on the first floor, they’ll bring it to you on the second floor. It’s served in a cute shoe-shaped glass, similar to Komeda’s cream soda. It’s hot outside, so it’s nice to be able to cool down slowly. There seemed to be a wide selection of food and alcohol. Now that I’d recovered, I headed to the first floor. After browsing, I bought some small items like socks and key chains. I’m glad I made it. Let’s have dinner! This place is pronounced Gokiso. It’s a place name that’s known to be difficult even for Japanese people to pronounce. For years, we’ve been coming to the main branch of Misen for dinner in Nagoya. It’s a popular and well-known Nagoya staple, but its long history, reliability, and guaranteed deliciousness make it a staple, so we visit every time we travel. Misen’s specialty is Taiwan Ramen, but we can’t stand the spiciness, so we always order something else. Our first order was stir-fried greens and sweet and sour pork. We also had this exceptionally delicious fried rice. Our second order was stir-fried tomato and egg, and then leek and liver. Then, we ordered a second helping of the delicious fried rice. This time, we chose the fried rice with garlic. Everything was so delicious, we couldn’t stop eating. The fried rice is small, so each person can comfortably eat one plate. For dessert, we had sesame dumplings! They were filled with smooth bean paste. It was busy, but there were plenty of seats, so it wasn’t a problem. Misen is a restaurant where you can enjoy a meal even if you don’t drink much alcohol. We bought mineral water from Suzuka City, Mie Prefecture, at Piago, which is headquartered in Aichi Prefecture. This branch is headquartered in Kuwana City, Aichi Prefecture. We’re from Kyushu, so these were all new to us. We returned to the Nagoya Station area. It’s windy! We returned safely to the hotel and checked in. We picked up the amenities we needed and headed to our room. From the eight room types available, we chose a double room with a bathtub. It was a warm room with a yellow theme. It was equipped with a bench and a table. Very convenient. The hair dryer and shower head were products of the Japanese high-tech brand ReFa. (Sorry, the shower is not shown in the video.) The bathroom and toilet are separate. There’s a sink and a capsule coffee maker. There are plenty of power adapters available. This video ends with the first day of the trip. Next time, we’ll be showing the second day of the trip as the second part of our Nagoya trip. Be sure to watch. Please subscribe to our channel to prepare for your next trip in Japan. Thank you for watching again this time. See you next time.
